Agreed. Taking breaks during a playthrough, I'd always listen to the codex.

Honestly, the narrated codex entries bothered me. I can read faster than a person can talk so I always muted my TV when flipping through the codex. I have nothing against bringing them back, the mute button exists for a reason.

Oh yes, definitely.

There should be a mute button for those who are worried.

I have no opposition to such but I would like to see more of those things incorporated into the game world. It's far more satisfying to learn about the universe through in-game conversations with companions and NPC's as well as action sequences. As pretty much every writing teacher I ever had told me: Show, don't tell.

Which so many defenders of DA:I fail to grasp.

I did but I still prefer reading them to the slower narration of the guy. Then again I've always preferred the encyclopedia books to the CDs.
But I'm fine with it being in game though, it does give some life to the codex rather than just being a mountain of text.

It was the first thing I thought of the first time I heard that voice, the first time I played Mass Effect 1. ![]()

Y'see, the issue here is that now I just want that dude's brother narrating the codex. And literally everything else.

He has a voice like most other VO people from the eighties-nineties do though. You could hear them doing ads on commercials all the time. It's not that I didn't like listening to him, I did. But he's a dime a dozen.

We need the major codex entries to use that same codex narrator! It was so cool! I don't know of any other game codex that is audibly narrated....my god, that was it! That was why the Mass Effect world drew me in. It reminded me of the 90's, popping in a disc of Encyclopedia Britannica to learn about gross medical terms and human anatomy. It doesn't get any more factual than this! The facts...the lore... the fictional history, the First Contact War....they factually happened. The droning male voice of authority said so.
I'm going to be hella mad if they don't bring back that voice.
AGREED! ![]()
