Unless the bioware staff are all crazy fanatic SJW then please recognise that the 2 last games have been complete sausage fests. And boring for that matter. Get it right next game.

How were they sausage fests?

(Wow I wish I had a link to ye olde post complaining about too many female characters in leadership positions -- Cassandra, Leliana, Justinia, Celene, Briala, Fiona, Vivienne, Calpernia, Clarel... ha ha ha it's so awesome <3.)

[edit]

Men who are into women got two options: Cassandra, Josephine. (2)

Women who are into women got two options: Josephine, Sera. (2)

Men who are into men got two options: Dorian, Iron Bull. (2)

The only group that got more options were women into men: Blackwall, Iron Bull, Cullen (human, elf only), Solas (elf only). (4)

If it hadn't been for Cullen and Solas which were added ONLY as a result of the extra year of development time, women into men would have two options, like everyone else.

I daresay, as far as general female taste goes, while both Blackwall and Iron Bull DO have their female fans, both the Cullen and Solas romances are by far the more popular options for that preference. If those two hadn't been added as extra options, many female players would have felt shafted in terms of romance options.

In DA2, since all followers were bi, everyone got the same amount, regardless of preference. (2)

Sebastian was a DLC follower, and some don't even consider his a complete romance.

Sorry if you didn't like the ladies available to you in those games, but they have been pretty equitable as far as raw numbers go. DAO was actually far less equitable, as men into men could only romance Zevran (1), and women into women could only romance Leliana (1), while both men into women and women into men got two (2).

^ That's because Iron Bull's sausage has a sensor bar over it... er, a rectangular cuboid (it's 3d, after all).

I would not consider sausagefests to be a thing that SJWs are attempting to promote? While I kind of agree with you, given the 6/3 ratio of men to women in the companions (and 2 has the same ratio if you play as a mage), I think you're attacking the wrong targets.

It's also true that 2 and Inquisition both had more men than women available as romance options, and I admit that I do find that a bit vexing. Of course, Sebastian was pathetic enough in 2 that I don't consider him to really count, but Inquisition took it into irksome territory.

That's because someone went all Theon Greyjoy on the boy's and the view was all fuzzy.  :)  I swear I almost fell off my chair when Dorian started to turn around and them those a-holes (sorry, but that's how I felt) quickly switched to an above the waiste shot...ugh. Bunch of teases. Cullen's scene not quite as bad, but still a disappointment.  :(  Oh, yeah...I won't complain about the long look I got of Dorian's sweet behind though, yeah, it was nice.   :D

Sebastian was a waste of space in the romance department. Now that I have him I have to spare Anders just to make him go away. I'd rather have a moody mage abomination than Chantry boy.  :D  Although his quests weren't too bad.

Devs need to give non-humans(yeah devs kinda forget about 2-3 of 3-4 male player hero options) and mages, non-andrastian male heroes some non-humans and mages, non-andrastian  females companions/advisors to romance

srly only human nonmage Travelian(from templars family) could like humans non-mages andrastians like dull Josephine and Cassandra

why only human Hawke was to have Merril and not Aveline who was more suited for him

why Grey Warden does not have Vellanna and Sigrun/Dagna to romance

only females especially in DAI have almost everything exept dwarf male what is partially covered by greywarden Blackwall

3 DA games and males heroes only have LI for humans and nothing for nonhumans

Keep in mind they're also calling DA2 a sausage fest. Someone explain to me how the most equitable game in the franchise is a sausage fest

This is the only sentence of yours that made actual vaguely grammatical sense so I'll respond to it by saying... Merrill?

i am not remember that in DA2 we could be a non-human Hawke to have  romance with non-human Merril

yeah Merril was the only female non-human romance for males heroes for 3 games and again only for a human hero

and her romance with Hawke was not make much sense, especially that rivalty romance....it would be much better to have Aveline as romance for Hawke

It does have a 5/3 companion gender ratio if you play as a mage, let's be fair.

Is the OP talking about romance options or companions in general?

They'll usually be linked either way.

I think the only real criticism of the choices available in romances is the fact that in the 2 games we could play a non human there has not been the possibility for a dwarf to romance a dwarf.      I don't play dwarves myself and I gather they are in a minority but it does seem hard on fans of dwarves, particularly from a role playing perspective.   Let's face it some people are attracted only to their own race; it is not prejudice, it is just the way they are.

It has also been disappointing that heterosexual male elves have not yet had a female elf option for romance.    However, I found this easier to role play since I assumed that in Dalish communities they are encouraged to marry young, so if they did not already have a partner, they are either gay or somewhat rebellious in nature and thus more likely to be willing to romance a non-elf.      With the city elf origin in DAO we had already been hooked up and in the case of the male elf our fiancée was still alive, so if I really didn't want to role play being gay or romance a non-elf, then I could just stay loyal to the girl back home.      In DAI I was disappointed that Sera was not going to be an option for my male elf until I actually met her; then I didn't mind at all.

Well the thread is called "the romance," so I assume it is referring to romance options. While it is true that they are linked, the ratio of total followers to romance options is not always the same.

In DAO we had 4 romances -- Alistair, Zevran, Morrigan, Leliana,

and 3 non-romances -- Sten, Oghren, and Wynne are not + Dog, and Shale who are both non-gender (Dog doesn't have genitals, but can be erroneously referred to as "he" regardless of the player's name for them, while Shale used to be a "she," Shale doesn't have an expressed gender identity.)

In DA2 we had 5 romances -- Anders, Fenris, Merrill, Isabela, and Sebastian,

and 3 non-romances -- Varric, Avaline, Hawke Sibling.

In DAI we had 8 romances -- Cassandra, Blackwall, Iron Bull, Dorian, Solas, Sera, Josephine, Cullen,

and 4 non-romances -- Vivienne, Cole, Varric, Leliana.

Strange... I thought DAO and DA2 provided the player with the very best sausage fests Bioware has to offer...

Dwarf romance is something DA4 needs to have. If only just for a change.

This is the time in the thead where I appear out of nowhere and point out that since they started doing romances, BioWare have written full relationships with forty humans, eleven aliens, eight elves, two half-elves, an azer, a nymph, a tiefling and a one-eyed Qunari. And zero dwarves. (Apparently an azer is a bit like a dwarf that is on fire, though. I never played Kingmaker.)

It is indeed time for dwarf romance in DA4.

If I remember right, and I might not, azer are dwarves or dwarf like creatures that come from the elemental plane of fire.
