Actually yes. It's a video game. I have done playthroughs where my character was a gay male that romanced other gay/bi companions. I would be fine with only having gay romances in a video game. But anyway, if you enjoyed the romances, and thought they were meaningful, that's all that matters, what I think is irrelevant . In my opinion though, since there are so many, because it helps sales and what not, most of them feel rather rushed, with one or two of them getting more attention than the others.

Why do you think that having more makes them feel rushed? There were six to begin with, all with the same word budget, all different characters who contributed to the story and relate to the protagonist in a unique way. Later, Cullen and Solas got added, and they're immensely popular despite the fact that Solas's romance has a fraction of the content of the others. Almost all of his romantic scenes are just added onto his regular ones, and you can't even kiss him casually. He still has a huge fanbase because they like his connection to the story. Is his romance rushed? Is it still meaningful?

I guess I just don't get which romances were supposedly shafted. Which ones are you thinking of, specifically?

At the Winter Palace, there is a noble gay couple. You can hear them having an argument in the vestibule as you wander around trying to eavesdrop and other such things. They may or may not be married, but they live together because one says to the other "I'm not talking to you until we get home!" They definitely bicker like an old married couple, I can tell you that. :)

OMG YOU'RE RIGHT I REMEMBER THEM NOW.

I love those two. They were great. But I thought one of them was married? Well, I'll see for myself soon enough. I just picked the game up again after several months of not playing and I have to get to the Winter Palace again to see what they say.

Not looking forward to those horrible uniforms though. Ugh... must headcanon something pretty and flattering.

Also- I fail to see how a romance got 'shafted' when it wasn't even going to be there at all originally. As far as I see it, the Cullen and Solas romances are extra icing and toppings on the cake. We weren't supposed to get them, but we did. Complaining about them is very counter productive in my mind. If you don't like the amount of romance content that an LI has, remember that they might not have been an LI at all. That always makes me feel less upset about a romance.

But I never felt that way about a romance in the DA universe (except for the Sebastian romance, but I never romanced him to begin with; he held no appeal for me). I've loved them all and thought they were great. Or at least, the male romances were great. As a straight female, I play a female PC who romances men, so I can only speak for roughly a half of the options. But I thought they were all great (except, again, for Sebastian.)

^ Well, it's really a matter of perspective.

I don't think it's helpful to compare one romance to another; they're all crafted to suit that particular character, their personality, their personal history, and so on. But some people can't help doing that, and in so doing they feel they have gotten less for their choice than some other player got for theirs.

Sebastian WAS a big disappointment as a romance, his personality was very grating on the nerves. I only romanced him partially, then gave up. I was glad not killing Anders got rid of him. Cullen, Dorian and Zevran were my favorite romances out of all the games, Then Fenris, Alister and Anders.  I would like the cut scenes to be like a cross between DAO & DAI though.

Unless the bioware staff are all crazy fanatic kittens then please recognise that the 2 last games have been complete sausage fests. And boring for that matter. Get it right next game.

I'm telling you, an SJW to kitten extension would do wonders for the internet.
