What do you suppose came of all those contracts we purchased?   Presumably if you disband the Inquisition they are now null and void but what if you only reduced it in size?

Mind you, if the plot wasn't so stacked against you that you are compelled to take either choice presented, it does seem a wonder that you had to surrender your power at all.    According to the epilogue the Inquisition is either a military force, spy network or diplomatic force to be reckoned with at the end of DAI.   These contracts provide additional means to turn the screw on anyone who would challenge your organisation by one of the most effective means possible, your stranglehold on the movement of trade.   The most expensive of the contracts allowed you trading partnerships throughout the Freemarches (the breadbasket of Thedas) and also had an accord with trustworthy members of the Felicissima Armada to attack the shipping of your enemies.    To my mind, what the Inquisitor should have done was move their base of operation to Kirkwall, since they have the friendship of the Viscount there and then effectively put two fingers up to the monarchy of Ferelden and Orlais.    Other nations, like Nevarra and the individual states of the Freemarches, that had suffered from Orlesian aggression in the past, would surely have welcomed an independent organisation to help protect them in the future.

As it is, it seems to me that Morrigan was using her usual inflated hyperbole when describing our situation in the epilogue. Either we did have the power to threaten nations or we didn't.   No one with that amount of power would have surrendered it so tamely, particularly when they would have had the overwhelming support of the general populace.   We were vulnerable up in Skyhold because of its remoteness when supplying it but really a wise Inquisitor would have foreseen that as a problem and once Corypheus was out of the way, moved their HQ to a better location.    As an organisation we were giving employment to large numbers of people and had the financial resources to do so.    Depending on our choices we could also have the friendship and backing of the College of Enchanters, the Red Jennies, the surviving Templars and the local Grey Wardens, which is more than could be said for the majority of rulers.   Yet we had not actively threatened any state and positively assisted all of them at one time or another.  The Orlesian ambassador called us a glorified mercenary band.   Very well, let us continue as a mercenary band, playing one set of rulers off against the other, whilst acting as a Thedas-wide conscience to them all.

You will gather that I was rather disappointed that we were promised a scenario where we were developing a Jedi-like order from the ground up and yet ultimately it came to nothing.    Putting it under the Divine was doing exactly what happened to the first Inquisition and we all know how that turned out.     It went from being an independent organisation that protected the common people and treated all equally, no matter what their status, to a Chantry stooge, with its mages shackled and its warriors put on a lyrium leash.

After DAA, DA2 and DAI, in each of which you are asked to build up a power base from nothing, only to have it taken away a few scant years later, not to mention the "boons" we received for saving Ferelden in DAO,  it would be nice, just for once, to do something that lasts.

'A rare consensus of guilds and trade partners in some of the influential city states of the Free Marches, though no magistrate could penetrate its obfuscating mire of language to draw out names' this from the protocols of passage which is what i think you mean? basically it says it's worthless. 'No magistate could penetrate its obfuscating' blah blah.

similarly 'the freedom to subdue and seize the vessels belonging to enemies of the issuing power. A sizable donation will ensure that vessels supplying the enemies of the Inquisition are included in that unfortunate number' seems to mean you can pirate with no backlash the enemies of those signed up. worthless once the inquisition is over.

they're all unamed favours, freedom to cross land, unnamed officials and promises to look the other way so you're not going to retire happily on the income.

Absolutely this. The whole game I approached every situation asking myself "what's best for the Inquisition?" Sometimes that meant doing something distasteful like recuiting Florianne and Vivienne; other times it meant doing things that turned my stomach like sacrifice the Chargers or let Thom Rainier escape justice. But I still did it because I thought it was important to grow the power of an organisation that was going to be there for the long haul. Guess that was a waste of time.

So what you are saying is that out choices should actually have a impact on the narrative and the Dragon Age world?

Perish the thought!

Why you mentioned DAA?To my knowledge the vigil and Amaranthine are of the PC you used to play in DAA.
