To what extent do you all believe Bioware will punch home the irony of the Milky Way races in effect becoming the Reapers of Andromeda, forcing the Khet and possibly others out of their native habitable areas?

Hopefully none, because doing that on the scale we are on, as in galactic colonization, is ridiculous since there are more than enough resources for both groups. It's not like in history where both groups are stuck on one planet with only limited resources.

Ok first and foremost if there ought to be a good reason for colonization I'm all for it. Like escaping the reaper threat on the Milky Way (it makes even more sense if the reapers were indeed confined to our galaxy or else they would just hop over to Andromeda which means the ark would have to be a Levithian tech prototype, in my point of view unless they find a better way, which I'm sure they will :P).

But colonization isn't so bad, the thing is, we are going to colonize planets without other races (I mean we are not going to invade other people's home planets are we?) though if the Andromeda has a council I'm sure the Milky Way races would have to follow their inter cluster's laws so it doesn't seem horrible (inter galactic laws? I'm so confused).

Hey....we gave you the language you speak today :P Otherwise you'd be naked in the jungle XD (jk). But yeah it has pros and cons.

Many cons. We are more civilized now and in MEA. I'm mostly Hispanic but I have a chunk of European descent.

Those ominous squids may win, but be sure of this: it's definetly going to be a phyrric victory.

Compare the murder rate of Hispanic countries to that of European countries. Stop acting like you're more civilized than somebody else - that's racism.

Nice racism. Europeans also settled uncharted land. Example, South Africa was largely unsettled except for the Khoisan nomadic Hunter-gatherer tribes that would migrate throughout the area - not sticking to one place. There was no fight between the two groups as I recall since there was land for both, then the Bantu speaking Africans from the north migrated south wards killed a vast majority of the khoisans and warred against Europeans for land.

Has nothing to do with racism. That's how everything was done back in the day and in some places it still happens. Not just Europeans. They're an example. We're a savage race. We like to conquer. Though as we become more civilized we can take the beast but it never goes away. That's why we have factions like Cerberus. It's human nature. In MEA we are not conquering. I made that pretty clear and considering what mass effect is and how we're supposed to be a hero I believe it's pretty clear. Colonising a galaxy is a lot different then colonising some land. There's a lot more space if you know what I mean. And the MW races are more civilized. If they weren't they would've conquered each other long ago.

The Reapers may be technically right, but my Shep was too much of a freedom lover.

I was talking about the MW races and how we are now. That's why we have NATO and the UN. What are you talking about?

I'm not denying that it isn't human nature because it is. However, you blatantly threw it out as a European thing when the colonized people were just as barbaric and backwards, even moreso.

We don't know much about the Khet so it's hard to say.

Where they not? Giving small pox to Aztecs and stealing gold from them out of greed is savage. The Aztecs were no different. They conquered rival tribes and cut people's hearts out for their gods. It's been that way forever. Sure it's nasty business and completely horrible to be conquered, you're people raped and murdered but 200,000 years out of Africa and our mentality hasn't changed. That's our history. Violence is our way. Sure as we have become more civilized we don't straight up "conquer" anymore but I can't speak for all types of people. we still have that savage mentality inside of us. Examples:Ku Klux Klan, gangs,ISIS, Kim Jong un's regime, etc. People like them are always gonna be around. But there are good people out there, still humans with flaws like any other but those who are willing to make the world a better place even if it's impossible. Now....about the khet. We probably come in looking to explore and settle some uncharted worlds, they don't like that. Try and be peaceful and they attack. They're probably not the sharing type. That starts conflict. From what I've heard we are in a race to gather remnant tech. We'll know more soon enough. I'm just saying that we're not conquering anyone in MEA. It makes absolutely no sense. The MW races promote coexistence and cooperation in citadel space. We are not going to Andromeda to conquer and take over. As far as I can tell we're going to explore and make homes on uncharted worlds not taking them over. I've mentioned this countless times before. We don't have the resources or fleets anyway even if we wanted to. Most of this is my view on human savagery. But Bioware told us our mission is pretty clear. And yet people question it.

My guess is Khet will be pretty much the new Reapers.

Doubt it. They're just another enemy like the geth I believe. It's the Remnant that I'm concerned about.

I think I've messed up words. It is the Remnant what will most likely be related to the Reapers.

Remnant, the name is certainly suspicious... the Reaper's Remnant? The Reaper creators' Remnant? This game could answer some things about the Reapers...

Doubt it. Probably another ancient race. Maybe evil. No reapers this time around. I wonder if the reapers will be mentioned or involved in some capacity because without them we would have relays or our tech if I remember correctly.

If that's what it takes to pretend the Bratalyst and the 3 colored ending never happened, so be it.

I'd like for them to say the Reapers have been to Andromeda in the past, but aren't there now or for the foreseeable future since the Reapers are busy with the Milky Way and/or the other galaxies in the Local Galactic Group. That eliminates there being a Leviathan-tier race that would crush us like bugs, and allows there to be familiar tech, including the iconic Mass Relays. Maybe a special Mass Relay is even how we get there.

This might be the beer talking here, but it would be the same if another country moved into say....   Idaho.  Or Montana.  They didn't take up the spaces where people were living of course.   They only took up the spaces that people weren't living in, built mega-structures, and started hanging around.

It's an affront to our sovereign land, just as it is to theirs.

Of course, this is all silly mish mash to start with, because we're gonna find out in so many hours.

Hmmm, didn't really think the Reapers were attempting to colonize the MWG.

Now as to whether MWG species are oppressive occupiers analogous to various colonial entities over history... that would be an interesting twist I suppose.  Granted, this assumes we would run into technologically (or at least militarily) inferior groups as opposed to superior ones.

Ugh. No, please.

Space is vast beyond comprehension. It's not like colonizing Rhode Island. There's plenty of room. Also, there are limits to how much realism is entertaining. There is no reason for the game to project the past horrors of colonialism into my Mass Effect experience.
