Ugh. No, please.

Space is vast beyond comprehension. It's not like colonizing Rhode Island. There's plenty of room. Also, there are limits to how much realism is entertaining. There is no reason for the game to project the past horrors of colonialism into my Mass Effect experience.

You? You understand?

Game's story is about finding a new home for humanity and other species of the Milky Way so the motive of our journey doesn't seem like we are going there to "conqueror". It's a fool thing to do as we are going into the unknown. I believe there is no reason to be hostile to the species of Andromeda unless one or few of them turn against us and we'd have to fight back for our survival. Also we should consider about what we are going to have/take with us, resources or whatever like the others said.

It's likely not our intention to conqueror but the species of Andromeda might take it that way. Maybe it could be the case by looking at the rumors (please avoid if you want to).

Spoiler

At this point, it's hard to conclude anything until we get to see the story setting.

Personally I'd like to take primitive species of this galaxy and make them sub-servient.

Yeah until we meet something that makes us the primitive. Come to think of it, it'd be interesting to see an advanced species that harvests other lesser primitive species(including humanity) for food, kinda like chicken.

You've gotta be ******* kidding me?! For the last ******* time we are not the Europeans. We are going to explore and settle uncharted worlds not conquering theirs. Apparently the Khet don't like to share. We don't have the ships or resources end of story. I swear this is the 100th ******* thread like this. Are we really that bored?

We are in compliance.

You choose to embrace your violent nature. Interesting.

Remnant, the name is certainly suspicious... the Reaper's Remnant? The Reaper creators' Remnant? This game could answer some things about the Reapers...

I hope to God not.  Leave the Reaper thing alone.  No point rehashing them only to then completely end up ruining the former established lore about them.

You mean like the reapers minus the chicken for food part?

I can see the concern, but I think parallels to refugees are probably more easily drawn; humanity fleeing a terrible war, searching for somewhere new to live, etc, etc.

I just think it's more fun to cause havoc then to fix it.

Nah reapers are too heavy handed, these would be more civilized and sophisticated. I mean they'd be doing this while doing their equivalent of sipping wine and listening to the opera, like it's just business.

I want the ability to decide on peacefulness or the ability to strong arm planets and take things. Its a game series based on decisions and if players should have the choice to be a stereotypical aggressor, just as much as others want to be peaceful explorers

if you compare this rumors with DAI,then you know how MEA look like:

just like  DAI,a big map & you send some body do this do that, then got got power or trophy.

collecting resources building colonies ?

Again DAI style,a fixed location where you kill some thing, then flag hanging, done.

i hope they do more than this.

if they copy all DAI style to MEA,no change, then that is boring,no good.

& i like VR in MEA,but VR is expensive now.

I read a dev post somewhere that DA:I style of things would not carry over to MEA. But I'm new dealing with Bioware in what comes to marketing and it's pretty much my first time in the forums here so I don't know. I didn't buy the games on release so I wouldn't know, it's funny because three years ago I thought this franchise was something completely different and then when I bought the first two games on sale I was so in love I bought the 3rd in the week after, I spent three weeks alone playing all the games in a row the first time I played them :P

The analogy is not quite right, in my mind. Refugees have no power.

We, on the other hand, have teeth, limited resources to start and are organized. Weak? Depends on who we meet.

This is true. It's not perfect.

But I'm hoping Bioware are leaning more towards space-refugees than towards space-colonists. I'm not sure I'm comfortable conquering planets out from under people. :S

This is exactly my problem. I don't want to invade and/or steal someone's planet especially not someone's home planet. :P

Bioware better have a good damn reason tfor us to go colonize in another galaxy. So far I think either escaping the reapers or the dark energy theory destroying our galaxy after the mass relays are destroyed would be good candidates :P

Shouldn't we turn them into our thralls to build our towns, plant our crops and farm our lands instead?

We won't be conquerors; it's not heroic, and too far outside BioWare's tried and true formula. Likely, we'll meet species who are open to alliance, and one or more squadmates will result. These friendly aliens won't like the Khet anymore than we do. Fighting the Khet won't be colonialism. It will be a favor to all Andromeda. This is simply how heroic games work; especially if you frequently choose those blue-Paragon options. Worst case, for you rascally Renegades there's an ambiguous evil empire vibe at the end, after we seize some powerful Remnant tech; and Andromeda is still likely better off than if the Khet had gotten it.

All of this assumes that the Khet/Remnant leak was legit, of course. Would be interesting if it wasn't, after we've latched onto it so readily, now.

You? You understand?

Absolutely. The modern world scene was largely built by European colonialism. Only on the internet would anyone bust your chops for suggesting as much. Trying to introduce corner-cases and shades of grey into the conversation doesn't change the truth of the big picture, which matches your initial generalization-- the powers of Europe attempted to colonize damn near anywhere they thought they could bleed some profit out of, and did it however they thought most expedient.

I do suspect Dutch was having fun with you.

It's funny because this is how it will most likely play out. Another cookie-cutter hero story, where the hero's main goal is to get everyone to hold hands and sing kumbaya.
