Some people are still in the mindset the women don't play video games. So why show a woman protagonist in the trailers? There are more women gamers than they think out there.

Not to mention there are more than a few male gamers that prefer female protagonists.  Personally I thought it was refreshing.

I read somewhere on a leak or survey that they were indeed aiming at differences between the same species. Like the krogan with a horn in the first graphics/jetpack teaser video.

(For the record, I think Asariator Furiosa looks fantastic, and the animation works much better when you don't cut out any frames, and slow it down slightly. So glad that we're actually gonna have aliens with different faces this time around!)

 

And... Well, to be honest, I'm pretty chuffed that our first look at a Ryder's face was a Sally rather than a Sam. Only makes sense, when you consider who she's named after!

Those ships with the rays of light make me so confused tho...why would those be on Earth? Do you think an Andromeda species would attack Earth after the Reaper events? But then they would have to make one or two endings canon.

It is informed talk. He was literally in that company, developing two games. He knows how productions work. Of course there is a possibility that there is a PR maneuver happening that he isn't aware of. But he said "safe to say." He was in there. He knows more than we do.

The last image looks like a slimmed down Avenger with a scope and different stock on it. I noticed that too.

 

The other image doesn't really have a good angle to look at the guns on the person's back unfortunately.

 

If customization is heading that direction (like different barrels, buttstocks, etc) I'm all for it.

 

Haha. That's the female protagonist's flat backside in that image. I snagged a still a few frames later to get a look at her armor.

That definitely lookes like an evolution of the old "battle tuna" assault rifle design. I was eager to see the weapon designs in this game. They look really good. I hope they're also a blast to use.

 

I wish they showed some more shooting, at least to see how some guns perform and feel, oh well...

That Asari look damn terrible aka Sera. It's like a human with painted skin.  What's with the generic looking protagonist at the end?  Can't believe any of these got approved.

 

aka your subjective opinion on someone's attractiveness is not absolute.  And I thought the (possible) FemTag looked pretty good and not generic at all.  Well, no worse than the default FemShep was, and much better graphically, obviously.

I still have little hope left that this wasn't Earth. Ark ships like this are kinda hard to miss by everyone, including Reapers. Implications for lore... unpleasant.

The only thing I didn't find exciting and impressive was the textures on the female protagonist at the end. She looked more plastic than lifelike. That was more than a bit disappointing after seeing the amazing textures on everything else.

Many will be excited by the longer hair, but it won't matter if we get a plastic doll wearing a plastic hat-o-hair. I hope they improve this significantly in the months before release. It's nowhere near par for the other games I've been playing since current gen systems launched.

I'll hold judgment until that's actually confirmed. A very dark, barely visible image without context is far from enough to be calling for heads.
