I for one am overjoyed that the fanboys who were enticed merely by the bangability of blue alien babes will be culled from our respectable franchise.

YES THIS TIMES A THOUSAND! Do you think that's all they have to say about the game at #E3?
Well it was better than I feared, worse than I hoped

I get why they showed nothing. Its 9 months away and they want to manage hype. The've seen games get over-hyped and then subsequently fail to ever live up to the massive hype.
HOWEVER,
There is such a thing as "managing expectations". EA/Bioware did absolute nothing to manage expectations around seeing more than just another sh1tty developer commentary, (with a few extra snippets than last time).
When you contrast this failure to meet expectations in the context of many ME hyper-consumers (myself included), who arnt really into sport games, having 30 minutes of sports games and 2 minutes of developer commentary ME footage resulted in something that was just impossible to be anything but disappointing. And this could have been so easily avoided by clear communication with fans about what to expect.
To clarify, if they were going to show nothing, 1) they had to "set the expectation", by telling people nothing was coming, IE, that the E3 presentation would be a developer commentary, not something we hoped for like a story trailer or gameplay demo, etc. And 2) they should have emphasized the 'we'll show you more in fall' a LOT more than they did during the conference.
Just a massive failure in marketing communication IMHO. So many Bioware staff tweeting about how awesome E3 would be etc, and we get a limited developer commentary without gameplay, and without story. If you compare this to the ME3 E3 reveal with the gameplay, its night and day.
Game is looking good, I will like it regardless, but somebody is really bad at their job.

Some cool things I noticed include:
1) Tempest is confirmed and looks pretty cool. It is reminiscent of Normandy, but different. It is seen numerous times landing on various worlds. We do still have shuttles as well, though. Nice.
2) There is both a Krogan and a Salarian on the deck of the Tempest with the protagonist as he activates a console. The console rises out of the floor. Is this our new Galaxy Map interface?
3) The new N7 armor is sweet. There are some good images of it without that stupid floppy collar bit that was featured in earlier images. Much improved. I also appreciated how dust and grime realistically accumulate on the PC. We'll see if hat holds true in the final game.
4) We got to see several combat scenes with numerous weapons in use. The weapons mount in the familiar locations, and I'm pretty certain I'm looking at a heavy weapon of some sort in one image. Combat looks fun as hell.
5) Environments looking f-ing incredible, in general. I didn't see one that didn't look amazing.
6) Motion capture looks good. There seems to be at least two varieties of armor. We see the N7 armor, but also the white and blue armor marked with an "A". Is that for Alliance? Arkon?
7) Was that a Vanguard doing some version of a biotic charge? Was it a biotic heavy melee attack? It looked sweet.
8) The Mako looks fast, agile and awesome.
9) That giant ass creature trying to eat, pummel or generally kill the protag was impressive. I look forward to getting acquainted.
10) I snagged some sweet images of both male and female protag in combat in that white and blue armor. Again, I like.
11) Krogan dropping that one dude we all should recognize off of a building. Does anyone catch the guy? I don't think I need to explain why this is awesome.
12) I wasn't overly impressed by the textures of the female protag at the end. She didn't look lifelike, but rubbery. The game is nearly a year away, so I hope that's changed by release.
13) The Arks look amazing lit up with all those lights. Beautiful. There seemed to be a gathering of Arks near the end of the trailer. Two are clear, but I think I see three or four, at least. Maybe the MW species are gathering for a big showdown with their foes?
Edit: typos. Probably lots more left. I was typing in a hurry.

For Fallout 4 last year, Bethesda gave us a look at: character customization, weapon/armor customization, settlement building, the prologue so we get the story, combat and gameplay. All at just E3.
But FO4 was a November release, so dumping that stuff today would put Bio months ahead of Bethesda's information release schedule.

Fallout 4 was released a few months later. MEA will be released at least four months later then F4.
I'm not saying it's necessarily good to release this type of trailer, but F4 had to release more info. MEA has more time.

Where my quarians at BioWare, huh!?
EA have determined that Quarrians doesn't have a fanbase loud enough to have them in the new game - it's a brave new world and money rules that world.

Actually there's a lot of information out now, since the Tempest being called the Tempest confirms the leak (that for example says there're 7 squadmates and the game is about a violent race for lost artifacts)
I actually think Bioware confirmed the seven squadmates thing a while ago, in a tweet if I remember well.

Exactly! That trailer actually means we can now be certain about a lot about this game.

Did anyone see a second "ark" in the distance?
Yep. There are two of them.
earth burning in the background. I wonder when exactly this thing is leaving. I won't be able to sleep now.
No. just normally lit cities. So departure will be before ME3.

Agree. Though it is also possible to have very little new footage and create a fantastic teaser.

These things used to happen in The Sims franchise too not long ago. People hyped too much, there was absolutely no control and everybody was let down. Thankfully now devs actually go to the forums and comment here and there and they have an actual forum community manager.

I thought she looked really good. Most asari in the trilogy had bland, interchangeable faces IMO. This one at least looks distinctive.
She isn't Miss Thessia, but not everyone has to be pretty. She actually looks unique, and not another dime a dozen Asari. I'd tone down her face parentheses a bit tho.
I thought the girl at the end looked good too. She does remind of Sera, but without the puffy lower lip which I thought made Sera look kind of weird.

'We'll be telling you a lot more this fall'
At fall
'We'll be telling you a lot more this summer'
Game comes out November 2017.
All this **** teasing has made me a cynic.

If not even a single Quarian is in I'm gonna cry like a baby.

It wouldn't be the BSN if guys weren't complaining that the female (or female-coded since it's an all-female species, whatever) character shown in the trailer looks too masculine/not pretty enough. Happened with Cassandra Pentaghast too. I thought Cass is beautiful and I think this Asari is pretty too.

I love these brief seconds of space visuals. There were ME2-ME2 shuttles, I tried to spot some type of vessel that was typical of particular Mass Effect races, but I didn't see anything that stood out. Maybe you guys can dissect this sequence better.
Edit: Yeah, the one in the center could be an Alliance dreadnought or a cruiser. But I think Turian dreadnoughts and cruisers, as shown when approaching Palaven in ME 3 were all very similar in design. I didn't see any quarian or geth ships, those seem to be more unique in design.

I actually feel more positive about it, probably because it feels like a clean break from the trilogy. I can sort of view it as a new IP inspired by ME.

Their plan of copying Bethesda was literally "don't show or talk about anything, then have big info dump at E3". Well, it's E3 so where's the info dump?
