So you didn't like the Normandy SR2? It's remarkably similar.I am not a fan of the Tempest. Don't like the overall look, the paintjob, or the interior.

The Normandy SR-2 was less flat, had a better paintjob, and had a better interior.

Since I forgot to actually contribute an opinion: I love it! Particularly the SR-1 tribute paintjob - always my favourite of the trilogy - and the way it's gonna be landing on planets, with us driving the Mako straight out of the garage:

I wouldn't be surprised if this takes place during the opening act of ME3. The Tempest, unlike the Normandy seems sleeker and actually slightly smaller than the SR-1. If they are keeping to the lore the Tempest is likely a frigate(?). The Mako seems to be about a quarter of the size of the ship. I don't know if the interior will reflect this size difference, but it doesn't really matter.
I wonder if the Alliance had other joint missions with the Asari or Salarians? Might be where the Tempest comes from. Or the Tempest could be a miniaturized version designed for exploration and thus is smaller.

Actually it looks like someone had taken SR1 model and randomly pulled the morph sliders.
I understand their desire to push the 'ME123-nostalgia' button, but I don't see why would it look like that. Normandy was unique, unlike any other ship we've seen. I'd rather have another unique ship, not screaming' hellooo! Remember Normandy?!' in my face.
The Normandy was unique for its drive and stealth system, not its outward appearance.
The colour scheme was always going to be similar if we're in the Alliance. Some sort of aerodynamic design makes sense if your ship is designed to operate in the atmosphere at some points, as this one is. So the similarities make sense to me.
And this design if anything makes more sense because long and thin allows for a more powerful mass accelerator main gun. Though knowing Bioware's attitude to that part of the lore, it'll probably turn out that this uses missiles instead.

Very judgemental are ya? One trailer and there's already a problem. Ah bioware forums. The Normandy SR-2 was less flat, had a better paintjob, and had a better interior.

'Tempest' is a word from old French 'tempeste', so there's your French connection

It's not just one trailer. It is several trailers, leaks, and discussions that have formed this view of mine.
What more would have to be shown for you to allow me to have this opinion?

I really like the design of the ship but the paint job resembles the Normandy too much. They should make the Tempest a memorable ship on it's own and not just the "Normandy 3.0".

Oh, and I still think it's named after Shakespeare's Tempest which, with what we know about the game so far, could be as thematically relevant as the Battle of Normandy was to the original trilogy.

I love the look, and especially love that the colors are red and black like the Normandy SR-1. It's a great callback, in my opinion.

the other ship "arc" or whaterever was even more interesting.
There are more than one ! and there are shipyards where they are presumably build around a planet who look a lot like earth. There also ships who look a lot like Allianz ships. An earth wasn't on fire, so:

I was hoping Bioware would make the Tempest be larger than the Normandy, maybe as large as an Alliance Cruiser or even a Dreadnought.
So disappointed...

Yeah? Have you seen anything remotely like Normandy during the mass fleet scenes (ME1 Citadel, ME3 opening, ME3 fleets arriving)?
Also, you can just recall your ship models collection. ![]()
Normandy did have the unique and 'iconic' design in ME. Tempest does look too much like 'SR3' , and they may even have their in-game explaination for that.
But, as I've already said, I'd rather have another unique ship.

Im thinking its probably a Corvette & not a Frigate as it looks a lot smaller than the SR1

lore wise they are named after big battles from history, so I was hoping for the Waterloo or Marathon
Maybe Tempest will be the name of the final battle against the Reapers on Earth? ![]()

Possibly. It would make sense since Tempest doesn't fit the naming scheme for Alliance Frigates, Cruisers, Dreadnoughts, or Carriers but we never learned the naming scheme for ship classes like Corvettes.

Perhaps.. Tepest is a hint to "the tempest" from shakespear an the known quote "Brave new World" out of that.
Or its the Storm the Rider in the Sky is riding on ... the interpretations contest can begin

They could have named it after another part of France?
Possibly, but Alliance frigates are named for battles. Meaning a good name would be the Stalingrad (Volgograd), Prokchorovka, Kursk, Cambrai, Ypres, Falaise, El Alamein, Midway, Coral Sea, Guadalcanal, something along these lines. Most of these are WWII battles, just like Normandy, with the odd WWI battles mixed in.
(Could even mix in Ostrava, Dukla and Prague - those would work, with the entire Ostrava-Opava Operation, Dukla Pass and Prague Uprising - just for me to stay close to home)
lore wise they are named after big battles from history, so I was hoping for the Waterloo or Marathon
Oh, yup. I would've loved for a reference to "us", but alas - a planet named after Karel Čapek will have to suffice. ![]()
It seems a bit too small for my taste, smaller than SR2/3. Landing on the planets is a plus, on the other hand.
I also did not like everyone just standing in front of consoles, it seems illogical not to have some seats to strap onself into for safety reasons.
Other than that it is certainly an interesting design, although i expected a bit less similarity to SR variants.
SR-2 and SR-3 in the Alliance Navy are actually vessels exactly like the Normandy SR-1, as they are Normandy-class.
Actually, thinking about it, the Normandy SR-2 being given to the Alliance must've been a real pain in the butt for the people doing the paper work.
The ACTUAL SR-2 is likely the SSV Ain Jalut.
I was hoping Bioware would make the Tempest be larger than the Normandy, maybe as large as an Alliance Cruiser or even a Dreadnought.
So disappointed...
There's always the Ark.
