They should include subtitles instead of English dub, realism is important... I have to assume that Milky Way aliens spoke English either because they have a translator device, using universal lingual drugs or attending English class back on their homeworlds.
ME2 confirms they have translators, as Shepard thinks it might have glitched in a conversation with Thane when it was unable to translate "Siha". Although some people apparently do learn to speak them anyway, as the Shadow Broker files on The Illusive Man reveals he speaks a couple Asari dialects fluently without the use of a translator.
I kind of enjoyed the strange polyglot nature of Star Wars in that regard, where most humans and aliens understand Basic as well as another language or two, so they can all converse in their native tongue and still understand one another.
KOTOR was a lot of fun when they averted this as well, having Revan understand a language that no-one else could (such as Wookie) and having to translate for the confused bystander.

Thematically uninteresting premise and has potential pacing pitfalls.
A game that is bogged down by "communications issues" becomes the focus of the game, which you definitely want to avoid. Why? Simple. You can't go forward until it's resolved. I have no desire to "wait" and twiddle my thumbs until it's done.
This is a shooter.. action game.... supposedly a fun game.
Bah. Humbug.
Make me at least think about a few advanced concepts before I go mindlessly running off for the next thing to kill.

Exactly. Why waste such creativity with an English dub? typical media crap.

While this could be an issue for some cases it seems easily resolved by importing a glyph.

On the other hand, unless they literally write an entire series of languages for the game you'll end up with something like SWTOR, where "bompa woola" means a thousand different things because there are only a couple dozen words in Huttese and every person who's supposed to be speaking it has to repeat them with different inflection and emphasis to make it sound like actual sentences.
I'd be thrilled with a short introduction to a new language with an explanation of the translation difficulties in the background but after that the babelfish answer is good enough for me if I don't have to hear the same phrase a hundred times in different orders.
