I think Liara is the only asari with eyebrows in orig til. Maybe it's a sign of adolescence as some people have claimed. Hmmm. Or they forgot to put them on the rest of the Asari. Prefer them without but don't care. I wonder.... do they have hair...... never mind. ah James Vega. I liked him in MEPL
Liara doesn't have eyebrows. She has face markings that look like eyebrows, but they're not actual eyebrows made of hair like the Asari in this trailer.

I think it's a child or whatever a "teenager" is to a being with a thousand year lifespan.
That was my first thought. She's probably only like 14/15 which is an infant in the eyes of the Asari.
People are going to have to accept that there are going to be errors/incosistencies in the ME lore. I don't know much about the history of the writers in this series, other than there being a big fuss in ME3 hence us being left with a bodged ending. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a majority whole new writing team, some of which probably don't know the universe as well we'd like...

I doubt it works like that. They probably grow up like we do but way, way slower like once they hit teen and young adult they have that appearance for like 90 years. And liara matured fast between ME1 and 2. Liara may appear but she way older than us. Way. I doubt this new asari will be any different. That was my first thought. She's probably only like 14/15 which is an infant in the eyes of the Asari.

I was pretty disturbed when I saw this, as well. Say what you will, but seriously, an asari with hair? This makes absolutely no sense, in my opinion.

The asari in the trilogy did have eyelashes. This "asari" does not. Reminds me of the ME2 import bug that makes sheps eyelashes vanish. Just something else that is throwing off the traditional look besides the smooth skin and eyebrow thing. Skin looks like its human just bluish.

I'm not sure if its not just a smudge of the stripe face paint.
(That resembles eyebrows because eyebrows really help a face look expressive)
that was really a need of other post after this one (the second)?

So Asari are now an all-male race with eyebrows, beards and blue dongs? I don't know if to LMFAO or to be disappointed, really. If they wanted to stay true to lore that thing would be a hideous deformed freak with some sort of genetic defect.
Forget the eyebrows for a moment and remember one thing.
The Asari are a race of BEAUTIFUL WOMEN.
You take the beautiful part out and make them look like men and eyebrows are barely worth rating in terms of the lore.
I should have never chosen Synthesis, this is obviously a side effect.

It would make sense.
I didn't mind the Asari being blue space vixens though
My favorite looking Asari has always been councilor Tevos. She was beautiful, intelligent and strong
Her "face paint" looks very turian to me (and Asari were presumeably mating with Turians long before they started mating with humans. Perhaps some of the "randomizing" some Asari have decided to do with their solely Asari DNA is to adopt some human looking features, such as eyebrows.

Well, sure, that's an idea, but I don't think it's a possible one. Although you pointed out that Tevos' face paint highly resembles that of a turian's, which I can agree with, there's a fine line of difference between painting your face in turian colony markings, and being born with legitimate, human eyebrows.
Tevos obviously wasn't born with that paint on her face. Unless if the asari we saw in that trailer was genetically modified in some way, it should be physically impossible for her to have real eyebrows.

Are we absolutely sure that Tevos' Turian markings (or any of the Asari markings for that matter) are "painted on" rather than a part of the "randomizing" DNA process. Yes, the Turian's paint them on, but perhaps the Asari can incorporate them through that DNA randomizing process. Didn't the bachelors on Illium even speculate that the Asari could make each of the "see" an Asari to look more like themselves than any other species (i.e. the Turian felt the dancer look exactly like a Turian the Salarian thought she looked Salarian, etc.).

There's also the possibility, since the asari was from a segment when they were working on face animations, especially expression, that the eyebrows were there because eyebrows are important in how we as humans gauge emotions. So they might have only been there for a reference for the animators, and they had not finished that scene yet.

Like, hair, real hair. What happened? They don't have hair, asari don't have hair.
Also, she is ugly.
1) You know, a lot of women use pencils to make those "real" brows. They have a whole section of industry surrounding this little bit of haired area.
2) [Why must everyone be so pretty, all so pretty?]

I can't remember who it was exactly, whether matriarch Aethyta or Ereba, likely the latter... well, she said that the asari sometimes dye their head tentacles. Makes you wonder whether they paint their face, as well. I'm really curious now as to whether Liara's eyebrows were "make-up" or natural markings. Benezia had them, so maybe Liara just took after her mother. It's still an oddly specific and un-asari shape of markings to have. Even as paint it would be quite curious because, well, do eyebrows even mean anything to the asari? I mean, I understand why the devs went for it, since it makes Liara's face more expressive and nice. (I assume the asari in the trailer has them for the same reason.) But she and her mother seem unique, almost strange, among the asari, especially considering we never meet any other with markings or paint like that. Interesting. I'd like to know the devs' thoughts on that.

OMFG! sorry for swearing.. what did Bioware just did? I haven't seen something so freaking ugly in my life. Is there really a need to make things so ugly? Or make females flat? Is this the trend we are going into?

Here's a couple of Asari with notable "eyebrows" including Liara;

Good memory! And thanks. Those definitely have an eyebrowy shape. I still think Liara's eyebrows look more human than that, though...

Maybe it's just me, but it kind of reminds me of how women in old black and white movies used to do their eyebrows...

Well, sometimes.
That's not a complaint against Liara's design. Personally, I think it's cute and it suits her. I do think she stands out a bit, however. I take back the thing about "un-asari" shape, though.

Right, they put some markings over their eyes so they could emulate human expressions when they used the same animations.

Maybe the eyebrows are indicative of her human/ Asari parentage and Bioware decided to make such things more perceptible in Andromeda? Maybe they are an animation error, I remember from the DAI trailer that they placed a helmet on Cullen to obscure his faulty animations, they aren't infallible and it could be a small mistake. Or it could be evolution?
From my perspective, I don't think she resembles a man at all and if she looks that bad to you, I pity your standards and judgements of beauty because they are unobtainable to a game that is committed to a more pervasive appeal to gamers.
