Great to see salarians, but krogan were never neglected. Every single game had a story arc dedicated to krogan, which is more than we can say for any species other than humanity (who we are) and the asari (who were Shatner fantasy)
Neglected Races in Trilogy Getting Redemption in Andromeda?

Andromeda I think presents an opportunity for the non-council (back in the Milky Way) races to gain more prominence. Since this is a new galaxy the races almost start on the same footing - it's not like any of them have a planet or city waiting for them there. They need to start from scratch.
What might be really interesting is if things flipped. The non-council races become the more powerful and council races the less powerful.
I'd like to see more Batarian and Drell stuff for sure - hell, we haven't even seen the females of their races. Seeing a Quarian civilization that wasn't at just about the bottom of the food chain like they were in the original trilogy would be cool, especially since it might be like getting a glimpse into what would happen if the Quarians had peace or won on Rannoch.
Volus and Vorcha are almost joke races so I don't expect much for them, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong.
What I don't want to see is a ton of Asari stuff. They were head honcho in the trilogy and we were all told they are so wise, beautiful, smart and desireable already so let's have someone else have the limelight.
Azzuming it takes off from ME3.
- Krogan obviously need new planets. Their options are to explore or fight in the MW for space
- Batarians have nothing to lose and need a new home after having their Star System blow up
- Drells need a new home because the Hanar system is bad for their health
- The war gave Turians an opportunity to look good. Turians were the 2nd or 3rd most heroic race in the war.
- Quarians joined but much later. I think they'll be too content rebuilding Rannoch to focus on an Andromeda pilgrimage
- Salarians didn't contribute much to war effort. Their standing in the galactic community didn't rise
- Asari were slow to react. Their standing in the galactic community didn't rise. They were comfortably at the top and couldn't be azzed
In terms of eagerness to head to Andromeda: Batarians, Krogan, Salarian (they like discovering new aliens), Drell, Turian, Asari (buncha sissies who act late), and Quarian
Turians strike me as the galaxy's security. Their resources will be dedicated to maintaining order in the Milk Way.
I can definitely agree that it would be nice to see some of the others races receive a more upfront spotlight. If we could get a salarian on our squad, one that will last for more than single game (like Garrus and Tali), I think that would be awesome. Perhaps we will even gain the opportunity to have some squad mates from races that did not once accompany us in the trilogy, such as batarians, vorcha, volus and so fourth.
As for the average crew of the Tempest, it would be great if they avoid filling it with a pure human crew, like they did with the Normandy, and make it entirely multicultural, instead. I want to see salarians, turians, asari, volus, elcor, hanar, batarians, you name it; I would accept just about any species on my ship. The possibilities have me excited.
Was reading about Garrus work on Omega. He recruited a tech expert Batarian.
I just want to see the Raloi. Is that too much to ask? And maybe have someone mention those aliens that uploaded their consciousness into the giant spaceship computer.
Maybe those virtual aliens will be our new EDI.
