Okay i have to say ive been looking at this trailer now and theres a problem:

Some questions arise, that have been bothering me, mainly when, why and how.

If we had this colonization project over Earth before the reapers came, who funds it? Where does the tech come from? How much time did they have to build those ships, when was the project started? How many species are a part of it? Did they take the reaper threat seriously to have a back up plan or is this just some unrelated science project for Citadel species to expand to the universe. Why was this not news at the time in the galaxy(i know why, retcons retcons retcons, but still), you would think something huge like this got mentioned(apparently Shepard was there to mention something about it as we see from n7 trailer).

I think their gonna have a problem fitting this into our known history and universe, which of course means: MORE RETCONS, yee!

A few things I noticed in the trailer:

- There are Alliance ships and shuttles in the space around the ark ship, which is in orbit around a planet. Earth maybe?

- It looks like there might be multiple ark ships in orbit.

So based on the trailer, I'm guessing that the ark or arks were constructed and launched after the war with the Reapers.

It is Earth. You can see the Great Lakes, the east coastline of North America, and the metropolises in that region are right where they would be.

If its after the reaper war, how are they gonna explain the endings, especially the ones wiht the green wire skins, if you know what i mean?

At that point putting it into our galaxy would have made more sense, if they would you know just over look it. Clearly putting us into andromeda is a way of not explaining or ruining the ending of ME3 they so want to keep and love,

Well, now we know why we were gathering all those resources for: not the Crucible.

Definitely makes me think it's set after the war then. The only other option is the arks being built and launched between ME2 and ME3, which seems unlikely.

Yeah i dont think this question is going to be answered until the game comes, if even then in any adequate way.

And i dont think people are going to like the answers either.

It's simple, they reference them in passing and keep it vague because it's ancient history, some XXX amount of time ago.

Whether people like that answer or not is a whole other story.

If they wanted to do that, they wouldn't have had to go to Andromeda at all.

Then what about the super intelligent new cyber organics and the feeling machines, that feature in one ending only? How are they gonna explain those, since some people chose that ending.

But then why would they need to search for a new home for humanity? Why cross to a whole new galaxy?

It could literally be something simple like a dampener that goes over the green cybernetics, and they contain their cyber organics but are invisible.

So Synthesis has zero actual impact on the game? The ending that makes everyone into cyborgs?

Merging the endings into one big amorphous mass is no better than choosing a canon. It's arguably worse. And again, if they were willing to do it, there's no reason to go to Andromeda. The whole point of that was to avoid having to deal with the endings, and maybe some of the other major choices from ME3.

yes but these cyborgs can interface with machines freely vs ordinary humans that cant in other endings, not to mention everyone from milky way is supposed to be super intelligent now, making calculations like machines in their own heads. You dont see the problem this raises?

It is never stated what the synthesized organics can do. The effects of Syntheses, at least with the Extended Cut, are left very vague other than the green lines and that it brings about peace.

Plus the people going to Andromeda could all get cybernetic upgrades like the Quarians do. There, now regardless of endings the result is the same.

I think its pretty much given concerning how the catalyst explains synthesis, its supposed to make organics as capable as machines, which means the stuff i just explained. The fact that they were not was what was problem with the created surpassing and beating their creators in the first place.

"Organics will be perfected by integrating fully with synthetic technology."

And as I put in my post, for the non-Synthesis endings they can simply have those going get implants that will make the mission more likely for success, resulting in doing the same things Synthesis does.

It was built between the time autism was cured by aging, and Volus started going toe to toe with banshees.

How about the chance that the Ark is alien in nature...? I'm not that keen about it being human tech... not again

Crud, that's the EASIEST variable to explain. Either the green light faded as the races adapted to the change, making them appear identical, or the game just has an on-off switch for a Synthesis character texture glow if the Synthesis variable is in there. Add some dialogue variations to reference the Synthesis weirdness and you are golden, my friend.

After the reaper wars?!?! Don't make me laugh. Tell me, which ending did you choose?
