Everytime someone is about mention the date someone else will cough uncontrollably.

Travel to Andromeda without a Mass Relay would realistically take centuries even in the most idealized faster-than-light sci-fi situation, so... yeah... they may not even know the date.

So Synthesis has zero actual impact on the game? The ending that makes everyone into cyborgs?

Merging the endings into one big amorphous mass is no better than choosing a canon. It's arguably worse. And again, if they were willing to do it, there's no reason to go to Andromeda. The whole point of that was to avoid having to deal with the endings, and maybe some of the other major choices from ME3.

Oh well then?

Would you rather they choose one as canon, retcon the previous games, or go forward and make it vague?

Which of those is the lesser of three evils?

You seem to be operating under the assumption that they decided they (the developers) wanted to go to Andromeda (just because) and tried to fit that with the endings. I'm fairly confident is the other way around: they were thinking of a way to circumvent the endings and going to Andromeda was the best they could come up with.

So that's my bet: the Ark will leave before the ending of ME3. There's no point in going there otherwise, narratively speaking. No need to do anything you said.

Just because they want to circumvent the endings does not mean there won't be a different narrative reason presented to us, no matter how poor that might be. It's still wide open, to me it seems more likely that the ship(s) leave well after ME3 and there will be some explanation as to why that we don't know of yet. After all, we really don't know crap about the story so far. Totally expecting some retcons or some vague invented explanations as to why we're going and why we need a new home in the first place.

Actually I assume nothing of the sort, but even in side-stepping the endings its going to be one of the three choice I presented anyway.

Only thing I presume ultimately is that it will be addressed somehow, because it's unavoidable. You are right, its likely that the developers are going to side-step it by design (hence going to Andromeda.)

That doesn't mean they won't address it though. They kind of have to anyway regardless of how it goes down.

My guess is this was plan as part of the "ongoing plan" when Shapear was take under arrest between Mass Effect 2 and 3.

Ofcurse we going to find out later, but it make more sense that this was all part of Hacket plan to preserve humanity .

That's been known for quite awhile now. One of the main question is when they left. ME:A may be taking place X number of years in the future, but when did the crew go into stasis? I'll dig up my "Asari was covering their butts" theory later. Until they give us a little more to go on besides a cinematic trailer with almost no dialogue, folks will be speculating their little brains out. :P

- It looks like there might be multiple ark ships in orbit.
.

There are at least three of them gathered together in one scene.

So yeah, multiple dreadnought+ sized vessels. Capable of intergalactic travel.

Built with "resources"?

Well, a Gerald Ford-class supercarrier-- how'd he get one named after him, anyway? -- costs something like $13 billion. $40 billion is a lot of money, but I imagine such an expenditure could be hidden for a good long while if you worked at it.

Its possible a lot of the richest folks in the galaxy pooled their resources together to build the ships to go to Andromeda. Why? For bragging rights. For the adventure. Because they can.  All that are going are volunteers. Each species sends of few units of soldiers from their military to provide security and any other help that may be needed.

I still believe the ships leave before the events of ME3. Did anyone know about the project? Sure. Most likey didn't give it much thought once the reapers showed up.

If they leave after the events of ME3, I would be curious how long after. I would also be curious what explanation Bioware has for what ending they chose or more than likely the game will give some vague explanation.

Which, of course, isn't possible since nobody knows the story yet. Just a bunch of hemming and hawing.

Didn't we go through this before Dreamgazer? I don't care about your opinion.

I seem to remember such a conversation. Doesn't mean I won't point out faulty, asinine logic when I see it.
