-The story will be weak. I'm worried about it at this point, because they keep saying "exploration! Yay!" Which is great! But for a game coming out next year that never mentions the actual story is worrying for me.

-Excessive diversity just because. I don't care about equality. I love that there were more Lesbian and Gay romance options (I played enough times that I've romanced everyone anyway), but I don't think that they need to make every character none-straight white male (are we all that bad? Don't flame me.)
Honestly though; I hope that came out reasonably. I'm not worried about having a trans character, trans people exist irl too, representation can mean a lot to people. But it can start to feel forced when every character is.

-The character will be Pathfinder instead of Ryder.
I don't want my close friends calling me by a title like DA, I much preferred the last name (which i felt fit in the military setting). It's a small detail but I really don't want to be called pathfinder.

-Too much multiplayer focus. The story and characters should be first in this franchise in my opinion.

-not a fear but is am curious to see: ME1-3 was almost all male Shepard for advertisements. In this game, it they switch between male and female, will people call them sexist, or honor them for taking a step up? In either scenario: if they make a new protagonist after (I hope s/he is called) Ryder, will they have to advertise female for all their IP's to avoid "taking a step back". (As in if they choose to make their new IP have a male protagonist on the poster, will tumblr hate them?)

You had me until trans. Can't change chromosones or your actual reproductive organs.

Nah I know, thats why people are trans instead of post-op sometimes, right? Sorry I'm just confused by your criticism.

Also that isn't very long. I didn't have you for long at all.

yeah it seems "someone, whoever" has to find a new home for humanity, so i guess that is the quest.

But i do share your concern a bit about so much mention of exploration , and new worlds ( how about new people ??)

So what kind of story could be built on that ? " Hi darling did you find some new worlds today? "

Therefore that also implies lots of exploration and encounters of the worst kind.

I'm sure in the midst of a battle we'll be compelled to pick up some elfroot and eezo too .

But starting with a clean slate, there is potential for a good story, but it  requires talented writers ...so let's hope .  .

" You know, i've never been to Andromeda !"

"I was born in Andromeda"... " ...really?? "

And let's throw in a rogue human faction,i mean some are bound to disagree with " someone, whoever" ..  :P

ah, and there is no such thing as too much multiplayer.  ^_^

After sleeping on it and looking at that Asari again.

My worst fears are that we get inquisition styled mancandy, next to inquisition style female romance options.

I really hope they haven't ruined the Asari.

The lack of Quarians is a worry.

Lack of release date is a worry.

The lack of gameplay footage is a worry.

Outside of that there's a lot to like in what we saw. I'm just starting to see things that remind me too much of Inquisition.

I do not understand why you have fears or why threads like these are even necessary. We know the answers. If we analyze, think rationally, and put all the pieces together we would be arguing oflver whether the game will be bad, when we leave MW, or the protag's name. They gave us all the pieces. We have to put them together.

My biggest fear is the exploration. I hope they don't go too overboard and it becomes a grind fetching items. DAI lost its replay appeal due to this and I traded it in after one play through. Although ME3's ending was disappointing, I loved the game, story, characters and its replayability. I finished it 10 plus times

- BioWare never explains the story in their early trailers. This is actually a step up in a sense. Normally we just get some totally context-free CG action trailer which tells us nothing but is pretty to look at.

- "Excessive diversity just because." You might as well complain that Sega is making another Sonic game. BioWare just DOES that. They've done it for a long time. They're trying to do it more gracefully than in the past, but that's not a new thing on its own. And it's hardly, ahem, "excessive."

- "Too much multiplayer focus." You're worried about this because Mass Effect 3 had a multiplayer mode with barely any focus and Dragon Age: Inquisition had a multiplayer mode that wasn't focused on at all? Okay, then. Well, keep worrying about passing butterflies becoming dragons, I suppose.

- They'll probably keep the protag faceless and helmet-ed in most of the adverts and just deploy male and female armored models at random during the trailers. There's no need to have a Shepard-like mascot face in a game like this.

-that's true, but for mass effect 2, there was an entire stage.

-Not really excessive in the past. It's a worry, only because the rapid jumps. Dragon age has some light characters, cool. Dragon age 2 has all Love Interests become bisexual because....because. Dragon age Inquisition had almost every other character be lgbt, which if fine it doesn't really harm the game, but it was confusing, as it doesn't seem accurate to real life (proportionally)

-from leaks and rumors I've heard, and because gamers seem to be drifting towards multiplayer games-and mass effect 3 locked off the best ending for single player only (at first)

-Maybe, there isn't a need at all. But I don't think they will (no reason to think this)

Haha. I wasn't a fan of Asari by design or many Asari that we met unfortunately. I liked Shadow Broker Liara, but not as an LI, which I felt they forced too much.

I was against so much DAI stuff. I have an old thread on it which is why I didn't include it, but fetch quests, messy/clunky maps (hills were beyond annoying), power system, and pretty boring character recruitment and loyalty quests overall, not really a fan of the love interests from personality (or appearance) except Dorian, who I ship with Bull anyway. Interesting characters though.

Note: When you're working with a tiny population and you want to provide players with choices, some of your characters are going to have to be "excessively diverse", because that's how the math works.

I believe people can be whoever they want to be but yeah....that's crazy for a vidgame. I kind of agree. I don't hate trans people and have nothing against them but it's a little weird.

My biggest fear is that too much exploration, and all the resources pushed into that, will lead to a game weaker in other (and imo more important) areas like story, pacing, combat.

It had wide open spaces with practically nothing in them, anyway.

But would every single character? Because that's not how math works.

The only time BioWare ever did that was Dragon Age II.

And that was the least of that game's problems.

DAI toons weren't all GLBT- Cassandra, Blackwall, Cullen, Varric, Vivienne, and Solas are all (ostensibly) straight. Vivienne and Cassandra are the only ones among that group who are POC (even if Cass is much lighter than her DA2 version).

If there are 7 companions and they want to offer players of all orientations a choice between two available LIs, then at least four of them will need to be LGBT. If it was a situation like DA2, where there are only four love interests in the main game, then making them all bisexual is the only way for those choices to be available.

But Foooooorth, if a person is diiiiifferent they're exceeessive

God fracking forbid a world with elves, dwarves, and horned giants who speak in monotone should have a bloody shucking brown guy who likes men in it.

The simple fact of the matter is that after the straight-dude-friendly orientation symmetry in Mass Effect and the bi-friendly symmetry in Dragon Age: Origins, BioWare has just been flailing to find a balance with orientation diversity. Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect 3 were their attempts to have diversity that was actually a characterization aspect. Prior to that you have Liara (monogendered because why the hell not, space vixens!) and you had Leliana and Zevran who existed just to provide straight characters with a second option and gay characters with a single option. And Dragon Age II, which attempted to have its cake and eat it too by just forgetting that human beings have gender preferences at all. And Mass Effect 2. Which had its bisexual options nixed because "Straight players don't want to hear about [Character X] being gay in someone else's game."

Inquisition and ME3 were where BioWare decided to say "Okay, THIS character is straight. THAT character is gay. THIS OTHER character is bi. If you want to ship against those orientations, then TOUGH NOOGIES, that's not how the world works, these are people with their own wants and needs, not your personal Ken and Barbie collection." That is apparently "excessive diversity" according to some people. Bah.

Biggest fear #1 is that mp will suck because it's made with the pretty but crappy frost bite engine.

Biggest fear #2 is the explore angle, we just had a bioware explore game.  If you make me explore don;t make some of your tasks mind bendingly awful just to tack on time played.

I get that. What I meant was if you played as a man the only good looking LI was Dorian. Loved the characters though. Cassandra mostly.

That's similar reasons to why I praised me3? And I wasn't saying a person is excessive, but that, hypothetically, 4/4 is excessive. It's nowhere near accurate.
80/100 probably isn't either.

Don't really get why it's that upsetting. But I am open to an actual discussion of someone is sincerely offended by me saying that, then I'll listen.

But with how the comment has been skewed, overblown, and mocked, I'm really not learning much about other people's opinions. Don't get how mockery is supposed to make society progressive, but it really is all I see online.
