You would think that with so many perks, people would play PC version more, but people would still play more on console. As long as people are willing to pay for it, they would keep churning it out. PC often also gets game a lot later, I guess, in fear of pirates. You win some, you lose some. Porting games are always full price, it's not just Bethesda as mentioned but because it's a port.

Personally, I don't because I'm bad with computers. Had Morrowind on a Dell laptop as a kid, the broke the damn thing trying to upgrade the display driver when Kotor wouldn't let me play past Taris without a better one. Then I couldn't play anything with better graphics than minesweeper for a few months before a friend of my parents was able to fix it. I have upgrade trauma, and it drove me into the arms of subpar, but reliable(ish) consoles ever since.

Joker. Not a squad mate but a major character. Shepard depending on how you make/play him also counts IMO, but even without him there's still Joker.

My bad, I thought we were talking party members.

-The story will be weak. I'm worried about it at this point, because they keep saying "exploration! Yay!" Which is great! But for a game coming out next year that never mentions the actual story is worrying for me.

-Excessive diversity just because. I don't care about equality. I love that there were more Lesbian and Gay romance options (I played enough times that I've romanced everyone anyway), but I don't think that they need to make every character none-straight white male (are we all that bad? Don't flame me.)
Honestly though; I hope that came out reasonably. I'm not worried about having a trans character, trans people exist irl too, representation can mean a lot to people. But it can start to feel forced when every character is.

-The character will be Pathfinder instead of Ryder.
I don't want my close friends calling me by a title like DA, I much preferred the last name (which i felt fit in the military setting). It's a small detail but I really don't want to be called pathfinder.

-Too much multiplayer focus. The story and characters should be first in this franchise in my opinion.

-not a fear but is am curious to see: ME1-3 was almost all male Shepard for advertisements. In this game, it they switch between male and female, will people call them sexist, or honor them for taking a step up? In either scenario: if they make a new protagonist after (I hope s/he is called) Ryder, will they have to advertise female for all their IP's to avoid "taking a step back". (As in if they choose to make their new IP have a male protagonist on the poster, will tumblr hate them?)

I think what they are doing is quite clever because they are pretty much doing what DIsney did with Ep 7 and not give anything away so as we get a really big surprise when we play the game... hopefully not a bad surprise but one that we can relish in and talk about for months or years after

That's what fans get when they want to be able to play as other races than human. It was intended you could only be human in Inquisition, which would've paved the way for last names in voice acting, but BioWare tried to please fans. So this is why the Mass Effect community should never ask for multiple races to choose from.

Jade Empire?

Oh yea true, but that's setting with like one white person in it and everyone else asian.

Also only one game, and was pretty long ago...basically I'm just saying that OP doesn't need to worry about straight white male representation much :P

My biggest concerns

- ugly eyebrows and generally disappointing customization

- not enough lesbians

- that they focus too much on giving nods to the original trilogy, rather than telling a new story

Well, here's my two:

1) Technical problems. Things like COD, stuttering, getting stuck in the terrain and more kill my immersion no matter what. Now that they aren't trying to work on 5 platforms and 2 generations of consoles, I'm hoping that the game is cleaner this time. The patch cycle was bonkers as a result.

Related to that, there is also the DLC problems I've constantly had over the last few years. In every single ME and DA game I've ever bought, I've had to do varying degrees of fighting just to get most of the DLCs to work. From reinstalling the game twice to get both the DLCs and the expansion to work, (DA:O Ultimate Edition,) moving files in and out of my game due to conflicting DLCs (Legacy and the Exalted Prince, DA2) to needing a third party program (ME2 with all of the DLC,) or file replacements (ME3.)

Even JoH, which was the last DLC I got to play, didn't have the schematics show up at Haven or at Skyhold. Despite me trying every trick in the book including reinstalling the entire frigging game. It doesn't matter if I go through Origin or the offical site either. I have a lot of trouble installing the DLC I paid for legally. <glare>

2) Lack of music. I can't let this one go, and I've tried to. I'm still very annoyed to this day that the DA:I OC had almost no music outside of quests like Wicked Hearts. I'm also not going to be very happy if they go, "A lack music is immersive," again. That maybe true for some, but at least allow us to hear any planet/zone music. Otherwise, the sounds of nature isn't something that engages me. Give us a memorable soundtrack, one that always makes me think of the game. Aside from "The Dawn Will Come," most of the DA:I soundtrack doesn't stand out to me. What little there is. Whereas I hear the galaxy map theme or Vigil's Theme, I immediately think of ME.

Well we do have an Asari squadmate if you analyze the trailer.

You mean the Asari hanging out with the Krogan at the crashsite?

I disagree about the straight white male reference. Surely they aren't the only players of the game, but they do represent a large majority. Let's try not to deliberately offend the largest potential purchasing group behind the game, if we want to have future games, that is. Most straight white males can't stomach (and we are talking regurgitation) male on male interaction. That's just biology, and that should be able to be locked out.

Why is diversity a bad thing?

Because it becomes unrealistic and silly if it's hyper exaggerated.

Most combat roles are filled with tough white guys.

It'd be weird if they're made into a very small minority

This game also takes place in a future where cultures and races are much more globalized than they are now. It makes sense to see more people of more ethnicities. White people are only the majority in countries with European background. That still leaves the entire rest of the world... Most "combat roles" are only filled with "tough white guys" because you're seeing that through the lens of someone who lives in a country with mostly white people.

Compared to a space alien, a transperson really wouldn't be that big a deal.

I am the farthest thing from a SJW you can imagine, but come on. LGBT, women and people of color exist, and they have just as much right to see themselves in the game and to have romance options as straight white men. 4-5 characters belonging to a minority group is not unrealistic or lore-breaking.

At the moment, one of my biggest question marks (fear is a strong word) is how they will resolve the question of how we get to Andromeda without completely screwing up the established ME lore. My worst case scenario is that they'll just say that "yea, they built some sleeper ships and went there, now we are here, don't think about it too much" (i.e. Mac Walters style story telling).
My problem is, I can't just not think about it. There needs to be a clever way to explain why it was possible for the ARK ship to leave but why this technology was unavailable to anyone else (and why we are out of contact with the MW despite stuff like QECs).
My hopes that this will be handled adequately are not high though and if they start this soft reboot with a huge idiot plot about how it all works, than that would seriously sour my disposition towards Andromeda from the get-go.

Hasn't ME3 demonstrated there are far more important things to worry about in a game?

  • The story will be weak.
Far too early to be concerned, telling stories, particularly character stories , is something BioWare do better than most.
This trailer is dropping 8 months pre-launch, it's too early for the story trailer, that doesn't mean there won't be one.
  • Excessive diversity
Diversity is great as long as it is, er, diverse.
It's easy to be worried when we don't know the characters, again this is usually a strong area for BioWare.
  • Pathfinder instead of Ryder.
Too early to tell, I'm sure it will be fine.
  • Too much multiplayer focus.
The story and characters will always be first in this franchise in my opinion (but the last multiplayer was a ton of fun).
