I'm GLAD that MEA had a minimal E3 showing yet again.

Let's be honest, Bioware has a track record with showing too much of their games prior to the release. They have been known of showing off light plot spoilers in their marketing going all the way back to E3 2007 where the Virmire/Wrex ordeal was played out during Mass Effect 1 demonstrations.

Had Bioware stuck to their normal approaches, we would, by now know already:

1) How the game begins

2) Who the main villain is

3) A good number of our party members, their names, their backgrounds, and a hint of who we can romance

4) A few locations that are critical to the plot

5) Core background on the protagonist and how he/she came to their current position.

6) A critical plot point in the game that would have been better experienced had it not been shown off by Bioware (Like the Virmire/Wrexham situation)

So yeah, I am glad that Bioware is doing what they are doing.

Or we'd just have a pretty CG trailer that tells us nothing.

I wonder which would be worse.

I like the piecemeal progress trailer, actually, but BioWare don't seem to realize that a substantial portion of the fans are needing more substance at this point.

I would rather have the vague "In Engine" trailer that gives me an idea of the tone and setting of the game rather than the typical "hype train" game play trailer that is more of a trailer that spoils a few plot points of the game.

I was thinking more along the lines of, well, this:

sure. but at this point doing this would only pay off if the game delivers on what content gets locked in later on. ppl have been saying that they've shown little content because they dont want a crestwood repeat. =|. an obvious defence anyone would run to. so when they do begin showing content, lets hope none of it gets removed.

nope, they dont seem to understand that. 3 times now they cant wait to show us "more". i guess they mean "more of the same."

because that's all they are, these vague videos.

While I do agree that this was a good thing I also fail to see how this is relevant to what they have done before.  We are still a *while* before release.  Like what...7 months before march 2017?  Its expected drop date? 7 months before DA I...March...we had only roughly one or two trailers from what I remember.  One that bit about showing off the world of DA I, and the second one announcing that the release date had been pushed back.

I'm not trying to start anything or trying to invoke fanboyism but like last time Bethesda kicked EA's ass again. I'm sorry. They mostly showed what they're producing and not teasing and telling. I mean, vagueness is fine but when you're at a conference like E3 (and after Bethesda's conference last year) you'd think EA would step it up. But I guess there wasn't enough time to brag on their friggin sports games.

they could have showed us more without any major spoilers. Besides we've already been spoiled by the leaks.

The problem with this logic is that it's unfalsifiable. "If a hypothetical change occurred it would play out in the exact way I say it would, because I said so." There is a middle ground between information overload and a dry tap.

There's also the matter of consumer choice. If you don't want to see all of the marketing and online hype you don't have to. I always see people complaining about spoilers in trailers and online marketing, like they didn't make the choice to view those materials. "I just wanted to know more about this thing, not know more about this thing!"

Grow up, behave like an adult, and stop acting like spoilers are the end of your pathetic little world when you can easily avoid them.

OK, I will bite.

With DAI, I tried to avoid the marketing. However, I still wanted to know details like game play mechanice such as the classes, customization, and character creation. So while I avoided the forums, I still followed Bioware on Facebook. With that being said, I was still spoiled by minor details as they always announced new locations, images, and characters on their FB page without any type of warning. Might not be a spoiler to you but to others they were.

So I will say it again, I am glad they are finally keeping their mouth shut about the game cause when they open their mouth, they ruin the experience by revealing too much.

There is a difference between not showing too many spoilers and showing so little that even game developers start to belive ME:A is in a troubled development.

But that's still your fault for doing so, not Bioware's.

Andromeda has been shown at 3 straight E3's.
And even at 3 different shows,Bioware has shown next to nothing. That is not okay.
Even more so,if the game doesn't launch (have serious doubts)early next year. This was basically the last E3 it will be at. A 2 minute trailer with no gameplay just doesn't cut it.

Till I see some proper in-game trailer I can't get hyped...but I think as usual we will know everything (squad, romances and a general description of the setting) before the main game release as per usual BW marketing strategy. Fall is certainly a crucial season for more info as they game is not going to be out till early 2017 (maybe March).

Mass Effect is a well known franchise so it will sell, and EA knows that, but wouldn't it be in their best Interest to market it so that more get into it? Yes it would. This is my problem with how EA is letting Bioware present, its vague and it has no substance as to what the overall game experience will be like. They could've shown 5 minutes of some Mako exploration and it would have been better. Granted what we saw of actual in-game footage looks amazing, and finally some motion capture work going on. Doesn't feel like enough though, not since this was the 3rd time we saw Andromeda at E3 and it was the same as the last two. Opinions and all that.

Also on an off-topic note - Why didn't they mention Mirrors Edge Catalyst? Bethesda even took time out of their conference to remind everyone that fracking Doom is out and let people play some of it for free this E3 week. It is like EA doesn't want the lesser known franchises they have to succeed.

The problem is that we still don't know a lot about the plot of the game.

We saw what the game will look like. The gameplay will probably not gonna be changed that much. I don't see crafting in ME despite the leak been almost 100% spot on at this point.

We still don't for sure who is the protagonist. Let's say the girl at the end is protagonist then why you don't the show the male too?

We know for sure we'll colonize Andromeda but don't know when we're gonna leave Earth - during the events of the first ME trilogy or years after that. We haven't see any main villians yet, just some alien creatures that we fight.

My main concern is that with the little we've seen the big news in the fall would be that game is not gonna come in Early 2017 at all and it's going to be pushed up even further.

Hope I'm wrong but if you're planning to release the game in the next 6-9 months, you would have show a lot more than what we have seen.

The truth is they showed us what little they could, padded with filler and most of it was pre-rendered. You can talk it up as much as you want but the progress has been uncharacteristically slow and rather troubling. You'd have expected dev commentary teaser stuff like this last year (under normal circumstances) and they've already said they aren't going to show more until fall - majorly hints that it's not remotely ready for the projected release date.

This Fallout 4 inspired info blackout is a b.s. People who point to Bethesda last year seem to forget that they demonstrated extensive gameplay footage and built their entire conference around it, and forget to mention that Fallout 4s trailer was crammed to the gills with so much in engine content that people were already creating world maps from it. That's what you expect from a game 6-9 months away.

Going by previous years what we got was closer to an announcement trailer than the traditional promo material you'd expect for a game expected to launch in the post E3 release window. Face it N7 day will be another after-thought and we're going to have to wait for next year's E3 before we get a proper first look at it - it's that far off.

Please show me the promo material for Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 from January. EA didn't reveal those games until last months and showed us first gameplay yesterday. That's only four months before release. We should expect the same with ME:A.

Those games weren't formally announced until a few months ago. ME:A was announced three years ago.

I bet you $10 all of the above will be shown by the turn of the year. It's obvious they didn't have much to show for E3 (which is weird, but that's another story).
