They really pushing the exploration theme.
The beauty of the environments on the new planets is what shined in the trailer.
Again, I would posit that, none of that matters unless we understand the stakes and the framing device.

Soul? Maybe Molag Bal took it........oh wait!
Or it's sitting around in a gem in the bowels of that huge unkept house midway down the path in Solitude. You know. The "Thain's" house. Bum. Literally a bum. I only went to his ceremony for the free Firebrand wine and the Cliff racer action figure they handed out at the door. Wait, I digress. I sound bitter. No...

It's nice to see some of the new art (the new ship. etc.) and to get some further idea of what the gameplay might be like. That's really all I want from a trailer. Everything else should ideally be left secret or at the very least only be revealed close to release.
Also, look at the ME1 trailers back in 2006/7. They didn't really talk much about specific characters or the story. They were all about the concepts behind the game, much like this trailer is.

Again, no one seems to be addressing the base issue here though.
Why are they trying to get us excited about things in the game that are the least exciting?
People love Mass Effect for the immersion and the characterization, not this....
I'd guess because that stuff is the most controversial. Also the most personal and subjective.

This thread is frustrating even by BSN standards. I'm not sure how you can so thoroughly critique something with so little real information. Whatever works for you, man. I'll wait until I see more to get to worked up in either direction; and I'll wait until I play it before I judge it "soulless", "good" or "great".
That's just it there is NO information. Beyond "EXPLORATION!!!"
Who is the protagonist?
Why are we in Andromeda?
How did we get there?
Why are we there?
When does this take place?
Who are some of our companions?
These are very basic background checks that we are not being told squat about. There was nothing in that trailer worth getting invested in. Nothing to get excited about. It's just "generic scifi shooter #1234"

Honestly, i wouldn't be excited about the game even if the trailer showed something more than cool graphics and a Normandy look-a-like. Mostly because BW(or EA, dunno whose fault it is), when it comes to marketing campaigns, behave like pathological liars

I don't want a trailer to answer all these questions...neccessarily...though, there has to be some reason to play the game, for if a trailer reveals all the infos then what's the point?

All very true, unfortunately. People are acting out in desperation.

And I need more info than "guns, Mako, and jump jets" to actually interest me in a game.

See this,
THIS is what I'm talking about - if you didn't know this was a Mass Effect game would any of you truly be excited about what was shown?
We are Legion, I understand but compare it to ANY other demo shown at E3? Seriously wanting.

ME:A never had a soul because we never got enough information about the game for it to actually have one.
It makes sense if you're holding off until closer to launch to drop the big info dump but if that's the case, why even show at all right now? Let EA have their Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 and wait until N7 day to drop us something.

Both answers are just plain bad.
You just want to be told everything about the game so you didnt have nothign new to discover and them complain that they show everything important on the trailer.
You guys make me sick.
Really why you want to know any of those quest. And your whole threat about ME soul have 0 interesting points. Really the soul on ME is on the lore on the game. And really the trailer was just to keep the ppl interesting, if they show mechanics or gameplay part that them later get cut (like happen with DA I) fans will complains.
You guys just complain about everything. Really you are becoming worst that 5 years olds.
At least Biofan try and analyses the video, no like you did about complain bc you didnt get what you want.

Why do I want to know what character you play in the game?
Why do I want to know anything about the setting?
Why do I want to know what my character is doing in Andromeda?
This is "knowing everything"? This is back background to the narrative?
Is it spoiling everything to know the name "Nathan Drake", and that he's a treasure hunter? Whelp, guess I shouldn't bother with the Uncharted series, I already know everything about that!

you part of that info already, you will be part of the Alliance military program and you are set to go to Andromeda to find a future for humanity.
But knowing about the setting is just spoiling the story. Why we are on Andromeda is too.
This isnt ME2 or 3 that we where part of a ongoing story already this is ME 1 again, we staring from 0 again. When ME 1 trailer come out we didnt know much about the setting or the story.

So, wait, are we a stowaway, then? Press-ganged into joining the crew?
Our character has no idea where we're going, or why?
