So long as the campaign isn't dependant upon it. No one should be forced to play a single player as a multiplayer if they don't want to.

Could always have it where they make a second set of dialog options, which are for the second player and having nothing to actually do with the story. They'd be like the side comments were use to hearing from other squadmates.

I think at the end of the day my concern is that what I learned from Dragon Age: Inquisition is you can't make a game to please everyone especially if they require major design differences.  I have seen good single player games, good co-op games, games that had both and had a good single player portion, and games that had both and the co-op option was good.  I can't recall ever playing a game that had a good single player aspect and a good co-op aspect at the same time, it just seems to be that a co-op game requires different design elements that aren't a requirement for a good single player game.

Not gonna happen. In the future though I hollow the make an ME game like the old republic. Creating a co op campaign defeats everything bioware has done. Those games are made for single player. That's why they have multiplayer. We wouldn't have many choices and a whack story.

What's the first thing we do when someone makes a stupid thread that's tailor made to push everyone's buttons?

Check to see if the OP is a member since today, that's what.

I was kinda thinking of Ikari Warriors co-op, minus the dragging through walls bug. It would be still kinda boring as the second/third player but i'd play it with friends, especially if we kept bouncing the main controller around.

Maybe could have it so that the extra player is the _fourth squad member (fifth Beatle) who just runs around while the first player does all the dialogs. *shrug*

Nope. No conspiracy here. Just a genuine request for coop support. If Bioware can add a coop mode without affecting the intended single player campaign, then I don't understand why people have to get so butthurt about it. No one is forcing anyone to play a mode they don't want to play. I'm not asking for the single player to be scrapped. Other devs manage fine with single player and coop campaign modes, I'm sure Bioware can manage being a high caliber developer.

I can't see Co-op working in Mass Effect Campaigns because the story is affected by player choices.

-If there is more than once character who gets to make the choice

-if both players can make the choice how will they settle disputes in the story arc

-what if one player is unhappy with a choice another player made

-what if the one character is playing then leaves the game then someone else comes in and starts making different choices completely changing the story.

-Would you have to restart a game if you can find the person you have been playing the campaign with.

it would just make the story too difficult to structure or player choices would be simplified heavily to take into account multiple players.

Co-op for smaller side missions would be best were there are no major choices to be made or it's a simple skirmish that can be done in about half an hour.

I wouldn't mind a co-op 'campaign' in the same vein as State of Decay 2 personally; a large, open world with drop in/drop out co-op play for up to four players. Granted, State of Decay can get away with something like this because it isn't as story heavy, but still, a separate mode, taking place on a single planet where a person and three of their buddies can run around an do whatever would be appealing I think.

Bioware is simply the team that made Neverwinter Nights and Baldurs Gate great games that also featured great co-op play in the main campaign. So if there is one team that can pull co-op, is Bioware! And lets not forget that both games were RPG and very focused on story!!

After playing all Mass Effect games I really hope Bioware get back to its roots and add full co-op campaign to Andromeda. That would be so awesome!!!!

The MP fans will not be forgotten. No need for co-op, though. It doesn't mix with a story heavy game when the players all hit space to skip the dialogue to get into the fight. Besides, they even get microtransactions. Isn't that cool enough?

The ME3 MP was essentially a co-op mode to play with friends. They can try and integrate something like that into the new MP, there would be nothing wrong with that. But I really don't see it working for single player.

ME is a one player RPG shooter with companions. Co-op would be pretty disastrous.

Go play Destiny!

AMEN!

The problem I have with making a BioWare game co-op is that going by my experience with The Old Republic is that I don't think story and character interactions translate well to when you have multiple people playing.

This.  Mass Effect is a game about player choice.  It's impossible to stay true to that mechanic when integrating co-op.

I wouldn't mind a co-op as a drop-in/drop-out option, I just would prefer they don't waste time trying to make it work.

There are 2 ways to get story coop

- To get an extra character for player to join up. This character doesn't have anything to do with story, only an additional help in combat. And the game's difficulty increases a bit. In return the the player who joins up gets in-game currency and xp.

- Coop player can only choose between the 2 squadmates but can't control dialog (it's host's game and story after all). In return the the player who joins up gets in-game currency and xp.

It's a way for people to experience different story without multiple playthrough by joining other's game. And it could help hosts go through higher difficulty for achievement if the game is too hard for them. Although it's not quite necessary.

Just out of curiosity did you ever play The Old Republic and do one of the group missions? At least when I played people complained a lot about how they felt like they were losing control of "their story".  I think both of those approaches will lead to a similar attitude and I really think BioWare is trying to avoid people saying as much negative about the game as they can control just after launch.

Yes!

This would make so much more sense in terms of this game as it is mainly exploration with a side of kickassery,

But it would be cool to go along with your friends exploring new planets and fighting along side them with some of the squadmates

Well... people said it was impossible to have fps on consoles, that Diablo wouldnt be good with console controls, that you cant have a good rpg with coop (divinity, nwn, Bg) ... I mean, people love to speculate what they dont know. Seems to me that a lot of players simply lack imagination on how things would work.

It can be done and Id love to see it working.

What do the additional players do while the main character is running around talking to people, making decisions, and doing everything else that isn't shooting people?

There's a reason Bio gave up on co-op campaigns with HotU.
