Not worth the zots. Not many people enjoyed playing that way, apparently.

I hope not.   Terrible idea.   Every co-op game I have ever seen made huge sacrifices in quality in order to accomodate cooperative play.   I don't want to see a good game ruined by adding an option so few people would even use.

All for it...just this time don't let choices there depend on our solo outcomes. That was a BAD idea in my book.

So many games was way more fun because of co-op, like Divinity, Diablo, Resident Evil 5, Dark Souls, Gears of War, etc . The only game that is worse on co-op is Fable 2 lol All other games I played were actually better in co-op

Co-Op is a difficult prospect to pitch. Either you have two fully-functional player characters vying for control or you have a second or third player controlling individual squadmates, which would be fun during combat, but which would place those players firmly in an inactive role during vehicular and non-combat situations.

The reason ME3's multiplayer was separate from singleplayer was for this very reason: Mass Effect co-op is only valuable so long as combat is the only thing you're doing. That meant the ongoing war elsewhere in the galaxy was the logical place to put it. Single-player is too full of slower-paced segments where you spend too much time not doing any fighting.

Then there is a number of other problems, I don't some random person to team up with, I would want a friend but since I have friends that live in different countries that mean dealing with very different time zones, both my and their availability (due to jobs, school, etc), their fondness for the game might not be as great as mine or vice versa, they might want to play as a renegade and I might play as a paragon (or vice versa) and so on.

So no thanks on co-op.

How about we keep the MP out of the SP and keep the SP out of the MP.

That way everybody wins.

I'd love this. I love mp in ME games as it is, so co-op would be fantastic.

I wish, but a co-op campaign doesn't sell microtransactions, and that's the entire reason the MP exists.

How would a co-op campaign play if you weren't the PC? As near as I can tell you'd spend something like a third of the time doing nothing.

Has anyone coined the term "co-ompaign?"

If not, I hereby patent, trademark, and copyright "co-ompaign." If you even think about that word, send me fifty bucks.

If you've read this far, you owe me $100*.

I know plenty of people that disliked Resident Evil 5 with how they handled co-op and it was even worse with Resident Evil 6.  Dead Space 3 had very similar complaints about co-op ruining the story elements of the game.  I haven't played Divinity, but the other games you talk about aren't very story driven and that is what Mass Effect is all about unless you want BioWare to remove story elements to make Mass Effect more like Gears of War.

Just out of curiosity did you ever play The Old Republic and do one of the group missions? At least when I played people complained a lot about how they felt like they were losing control of "their story".  I think both of those approaches will lead to a similar attitude and I really think BioWare is trying to avoid people saying as much negative about the game as they can control just after launch.

The Old Republic is different because it's an MMO, you do co-op sessions most of the time. Mass Effect's story is SP oriented. I suggested the 2 ways for co-op campaign is because Dungeon Siege 3 was intended to deliver co-op choices, it kinda screwed up. Dialog control without limitation can be quite bizarre.

Unless BioWare make exclusive story for co-op campaign.

Time spent making co-op is time not making new content(not that it is happening at this point in development).

Divinity: Original Sin created multiplayer with story choices and made it so that both players must agree in order to proceed. Conflict between players is resolved by a mini-game between the players.

I would be ok with coop just for the combat situations, but how would this work? During exploration and dialogue your friend would do nothing. They could do it but its extra work that don't makes a lot of sense, since they already have the Multiplayer.

I don't think that the forums are that bad... I've dealt with things far, far worse on wikia though, so I'm bias. But otherwise, your correct though.

Oh man this would embody everything I hate about having to interact with rando jerks online, let alone having to cooperate with them. Turrible.

Please no. Can't we just keep the campaign and the multi player separate. What's so wrong with that? I still get my dedicated single player experience, and the people that want multiplayer get that too.
