Warden Alistair. That was a bad idea.

I think Loghain will never get a chance to redeem himself later, either his old age or something else will get him anyway. And he needs that redemption.

Its a real dilemma when it comes to stroud.

I think Alistair is favored. He is the youngest and he can still be called to Ferelden if there is another successor crisis. Overall more important as a character.

Now that Weekes is lead writer i hope he crush the HoF in DA4 with a codex entry that say they died in the deep roads the end.

All branches ending of DAO are finally tied up.

I just hope Weekes can stay on course with the story line without all those WTH moments.

I would like to see a cameo by the HOF in DA4.

The possibility of a cure exists.

It does not for me as i said Bioware will not split their story in two branches if the US sacrifice is committed this quest does not exist.

More probably they will tie up everything in a single state by making the warden fail and die not that all the new players of DA4 will care for a protagonist of a game old of ten years(10 years when DA4 will be released)

Its very easy to fix that though, see mass effect.

A person was working on a cure but he can be dead on the previous game, another will easily take his place who also worked on the cure and the player didn't need to be aware of it. So it won't be split in two branches, it will be a matter of who came up with the cure. The warden in case he is alive, or someone else if the warden is dead.

They could have done it before but they didn't.
They decided to not involve the Orlesian warden commander in this quest which is a sort of hint for me,they used this quest just to remove the HoF from Ferelden during the events of DAI.  And where is the cure? Far far in the west......

Meh, could be any reason. Not to mention that this is text based quest so literally anything is possible.

I'm an expert on Mass effect thus i think we cannot draw a parallel here.
This quest was triggered by some notes left in WH so is  for the HoF in specific
Saying that someone else somewhere could do it(i assume another warden because only they will care..) in an US world without those hints it's improbable, and beside the GW seem to not care to find a cure they never bothered to research it in a thousand of years since the taint is their anthem.

Oh my maker.

All I said was potentially untrue. Please don't quote me twice to say the same thing two different times.

Sorry, just... Am I not being understood? Because it feels like I'm not being understood.

Anyway, since none of us are the writers or developers of DA, none of us can say what will and won't be.

Possibility exists until unproven -- and it has not yet been unproven.

The HOF could make a return in a  DLC  (maybe like Leliana's Story for a modest price?) for those of us that would like to see his/her return as far as the game being old its still quite popular and probably remain popular for several more years. One can't overlook several of the older Final Fantasy games remains popular even though many are reaching the age of antiquity. .

I've never had Alistair as a Warden, but I would never under any circumstances sacrifice Hawke.

Pardon me but I don't hope that. I kinda like my serana. I hope she lives happily ever after because after reading the calling I rather her not find out the truth of what the calling is and what could happen. We don't have to die to have an ending. I think if a cure can be found we should find it and wardens should have the choice of curing or not. Imho

I'm hoping to sacrifice everyone at least once and spare everyone at least once, just on the off chance that Bioware does something cool with this choice. So far I've got Loghain, Warrior!Hawke, and Mage!Hawke as sacrifices and Mage!Hawke, Stroud, and Alistair as saved. Next playthrough I was planning to sacrifice Stroud for Rogue!Hawke.

I've got no problem sacrificing Alistair. It's Loghain who I don't want to be left behind, so sorry Hawke.

I always lop off loghains head in dao. Thou shalt not suffer a slaver to live. He's dead to me.

I love Alistair. Love him. But my love for Hawke apparently knows no bounds. I can't leave her in the Fade. First PT Alistair was the Warden contact. After a very long time...I left him in the Fade. Oh!!! The Boo Boo face he gave me.

Besides which, I figure Hawke has endured enough. She deserves to have a chance at life. Alistair had a good run, but he is blighted, or tainted. And it was the Warden's fault.

Soo, yeah. After that Alistair is always king in my PT's because to hell with that. I think BW likes that, too. Seeing as how Alistair is always king in their comics and whatnot.

Haha, yes. I never have Loghain as a warden either. Because he's a slaver. And slavers stop breathing soon after I meet them;)

Said by Anders is not that believable...

I find this idea of "they're sick/gonna die anyway" to be a little strange. Just because their natural lifespan has been shortened and they carry the Blight that somehow means they can't still live a meaningful life compared to Hawke? It is quantity over quality, then?

It's not about their lifespan but more about Corypheus.
Why i should prefer a tainted person as an ally over someone which is not tainted with Corypheus as opponent?
Plus should the well of sorrow failed in theory we could have still used Hawke blood to imprison Corypheus
In short Hawke is more valuable than Alistair in the eye of any rational Inquisitor who is not making the choice for the sake of the HoF.
