I like the Viper. I just thought the general opinion of it on the BSN was pretty low?

Well, compared to beasts like the Javelin and BW, that's somewhat understandable.  And of course it's not as good as it was in ME2 (alas, poor Locust/Viper/Eviscerator/Phalanx etc etc).

But TBH, none of the sniper rifles are actually bad.  The poor old, much maligned Raptor can also do decent work (before your trigger finger falls off) and even the Krysae still does well (though that RoF...).  Then again, this is the weapon class where the starter weapon is actually still good once levelled, so maybe that should be expected.

^^^^^ yeah, a real shame about the Locust, I actually love(d) that gun very much ... but on Gold it always feels like it's shooting tiny little fluffy cotton balls :crying:

Krysae with either cryo or incendiary ammo on engies isnt that bad...lots of fire / cryo explosions

Incisor.

OT: Gold 95% of the time. The other 5% are silver solos. And I echo the sentiment that plat sucks.

Used to pug on gold/plat.

I just started playing again after an 8 month hiatus, and for some reason i promoted all my characters. So i've been playing bronze and silver to get their levels up. I did play a few gold once they were at level 18, god that was painful! Made it through the matches but used up a lot of consumables. Will take a bit more practice to feel comfortable playing gold Pugs again (I did have a very easy match but I had Rusty in the game plus an ok pug so there was no reason to worry about the incompetent pug). I wont be going back to platinum anytime soon.

Gold, either:

(1) carried by Hamletic Tortoise

or

(2) Krentinel with full fitness build and cyclonics level XXXVIII

or

(3) both (1) and (2)

Mmrraww! I mean YAHOOOO!!

95% gold/pug...5% Plat and that is with friends only. I try not to drop to silver too much if at all now, just for fear of getting too relaxed there and getting overwhelmed again when I go back up to gold... ...I have never pugged Plat...that is a recipe for disaster...

Once you have an indra, no use for a raptor. What kills me on the krysae is the reload delay. It's like what happen to sabotage which was one of the best utility powers back in the day.

I'll take the Raptor over the Indra ANY day. Even the Viper and Incisor are more fun. One of the worst designed guns in the game.

I Know! Lets make the bullets look really bright and explodey! Now lets put a scope on it, and give the player a damage penalty if they don't want their screen filled with bright, explodey stuff!

Right up there with marksman/rage/hm/scanner/ar/etc overlays. Whoever designed these things needs to be shot. For the sake of the future of gaming.

Gold and Silver. Mostly Gold now. I go for Silver when I want to fool around, test out new builds or farm credits without having to use any consumables.

I have had two Platinum games as well. Both successful but... I don't know. Gold just feels more balanced for me, it offers challenge but also leaves more room for different kind of playstyles whereas in Platinum it was more tedious. Though I do liked the mixed spawns.

Lol. Incisor? Now I know you're smoking crack. Dps on that thing is horrid plus it's muzzle climb is like a full auto ptrs-41.

Really? Incisor DPS is higher than most ARs. And about the same DPS as the Indra (At level X). If you Incisor is a higher level than your Indra, then it has higher DPS than your Indra.

Excluding URs, only the Mattock and the Revenant (For ARs) have higher DPS, and good luck getting maximum DPS out of those.

It's also quite stable with a Stabilization Module (You know those things nobody uses? Yeah, it makes guns better, like a Turian, only even more effect on Recoil).

If you include Infiltrators, most also have a Sniper Rifle specific boost.

Maybe you should, I dunno, check some data sheets, maybe try something out before you bash it and the people who use it.

Straight up 100% pug gold. In almost 1200 hrs, never pugged a plat. Now I've played a few pug plats because, it was bumped in the lobby. Haven't pugged silver in probably a year. Maybe, I will now since maxed manifest problems are over. But, I don't promote anymore either, so I don't need to level characters in silvers.

I've improved a bit and I do much more gold runs now, don't want to get stuck on Silver, someone gave me that advice a while back and it's working. I've done Platinum a lot of times too but friends have carried me through it with me mostly cowering in the corner or dying or running away screaming like a little girl. Wouldn't dream of doing it with pugs or with someone I don't know that well, gotta be someone who has patience with me and who's willing to curry me.

I havent tried the incisor yet i dont think... I need to :)

Im playing silver a lot more now... im getting a little better I think... but I cant play silver with anything... I can do it with the Asari Vanguard and the Geth Juggernaut and basically every engineer... also most adepts and infiltrators... some sentinels too... the ones I struggle with are the Krogan Warlord and the phoenix adept???

... I think the Krogan is mainly my build and low level thats the problem but also people... if no one was around I could kill things and it would be fine but its the people around me who make me get assists because they steal the kills and then I die because I dont kill anything...

The phoenix Adept just doesnt make sense... I tried it on silver and I know I only have 2 medi gel but most other things are a little higher... I ran out of medi gel and the ops pack things on wave 5... I just couldnt survive... I put all points into health and shields and it was still not enough... if smash had double range it might be better... or if it had 1000 shields and 900 health... it would be great... but it just feels too weak to me :( im gonna use one of my armor equipment things to increase the shields and go play bronze with it later... kinda disappointed... I thought the whips would be more fun... if it had much higher health and shields and you could then use melee instead that would be fun but its just so weak :( you need to be at close range for smash but its bad at close range... as i said im gonna use equipment and play bronze and see if I can get used to it but thats just my thoughts so far... apparently theres a vanguard one and I think that would be something much better... it would let you get in at close range for melee or smash or something instead of having to get yourself into close range and die... it would also make up for bad shields like volus shield boost <3 the Adept is my least favorite character so far though... but the others ive tried are some of my favorites...

I see more people using the Incisor than the Indra.

That doesn't prove anything though.

Well, apparently I have completed the incisor challenge 12 times :P To be honest, I have completed the Indra one 17 times

They both are atypical SRs, so I understand if people don't like either, or both. I do think that the Indra is easier to make work, since it's pretty much an Assault Rifle masquerading as a SR.

I did try to make the Incisor work just to complete its challenge, but once I realized how hard it hits after you account for its lack of stability, I have enjoyed taking it out every now and then.

This is what I usually use. A staggering power really helps in lining the burst up and maximizing damage. The 3-round burst on a SR is pretty gimmick, but it turns into an advantage against shield-heavy factions IMO.

I almost never see the Incisor, outside of new players just building their manifests; the Indra is quite rare in the wild too, though there are so many guns out there, it's impossible to really account for their frequency.

And I've never seen anyone use it on hundreds of hours of gold and I've seen Indra plenty, anecdotal evidence is anecdotal

It is bad. Needs much sweat to make it work well. Although possible, just tedious and sounds like a job and not entertainment. I had to do silver solo with it just to get the challenge done. Once. Not looking forward to repeat. I'll take raptor or viper over it any time.
