Look it's definitely Earth in the vid - you can eve see the great lakes - that means that the launch happens before ME 3 and ALL the species are possible or that it takes place after ME 3, Which seems very unlikely since that would open all the cans of worms for Bioware.
So about this leaving MW dilemma.

Who said it was a small amount of time? Looks like we're being put into cryo.
1000 years is small relative to the age of the universe.
Also this is less of a problem if your propulsion system doesn't sidestep time dilation since it is beneficial from the perspective of the ship and crew.
Nevertheless, Lazarus cost a mere 4 billion credits. SR1's Tantalus drive core cost 120 billion. How much for the drive core on an Ark?

Yeah, who cares about the fans who will have their favorite races left out? Those fan's feelings are expendable, as long as we appeal to the other fans.
He's right though. Both have a small (albiet disproportionately vocal) fanbase. Hell, the quarians are pretty universally disliked (BSN turbonerds aside). Deleting them both doesn't meaningfully affect sales and would conveniently sidestep controversy from the wider fanbase over the choices regarding them.

Also heard a rumor early on that Bio's survey asked what races would you mind not returning.
Quarians were high on votes

You're so cold.
I do agree with new fans though. Been trying to get more people interested for years.
I'm only cold because if this is true I'm one of the fans being left in the cold.

While I like them I do think the Quarians and Geth are kinda at the end of where their development can go. What can Bioware do with either race without feeling their repeating themselves? Quarians especially. The entire milky race are now travellers that are looking for a new home. That in itself makes the Quarians role in the universe obsolete.
In an ideal world I'd take both over the Asari but we all know that ain't gonna happen.
In fact, in an even more ideal world I'd leave all three in favour of the Batarians but we all know that ain't gonna happen either.

I changed my mind. I do want them. They can live as long as they're in their suits. But I suppose it doesn't matter. Also heard a rumor early on that Bio's survey asked what races would you mind not returning.

Alliance cruisers if you ever seen one.
Hmm...after looking at some concept arts they do look alike somewhat but I'm not sure if they were always like that.

I would like your post but sadly I'm out of likes. I don't understand these forums :\

I would also like to point out that theres more than 1 ark
So perhaps they landed different places and you have to hunt around before adding other races.

I blame it on Tali and that desperate moron who tried to stab us in the back by blowing up the Geth ship while we were on it.
Tali was a nice girl to many, me included, but had minimal charisma.
In ME2 the Quarians were hyper antagonistic during the bulk of our time spent in their community.

There are definitely three, with weird circular tech rings surrounding them.

Yes.
Ditch the Asari for a Drell. Drells are in dire need of a new home world also. Their original is a war torn piece of crap. Their adopted Hanar home is bad for their health.
So was Krogan, and yet we know they are in.
Three words: Redundant Nervous Systems
Krogan are buff guys who can survive the most extreme environmental conditions. A Quarian is severely limited if a hole gets into their suit.
The ME universe knows Krogan would be great explorers. Explorers Wanted poster featured the one and only.

I'd take em along but as crew members. Leave the squad roster to other races. Tali didn't have the combat prowess of our Krogan, Turian, Drell, Asari, etc squaddies.

She was very skilled. What are you talkin about? She may not have been as durable but quarians have proven themselves in combat.Yes.

The desert world we saw twice now on the trailers would be perfect for Drell. And they wouldn't have to work for the Hanar any longer.

I'd actually argue that this would make them even more relevant. The whole of your expedition finds itself in the exact circumstance of the quarian people. It makes sense to bring along the group with centuries of experience in planetary scouting, liveship management, and vessel maintenance.

Ending and choice issues aside leaving the milky way galaxy to avoid certain death makes total sense, leaving just because you can for no particular reason does not sit right with me at all when 99% of our own galaxy is left unexplored. Is exploring the rest of your own galaxy not cool anymore? Wouldn't the rest of our galaxy be a much more logical place to start looking for new home worlds?
Man on the moon was the first step. Achieving the technology to reach Andromeda in a reasonable timeframe is surely the last. Aren't we skipping the entire journey in between just to side step a crappy multiple choice ending? Ridiculous premise.

Extra galactic travel is so fascinating. Think of it like star trek. That's probably the best thing I can relate it to. Given the numerous ark ships and the urgency I'm confident survival is the motive for Andromeda exploration.
Here's what I don't understand. Our priority is the survival and prosperity of humanity. Why would we start the game off with a Krogan squaddie

Bringing a dead person back to life may in fact be easier than getting to another galaxy in a relatively small amount of time.
Err, i believe it was said to be in the hundreds of years. People here have been stating 200 but no specific number's been mentioned so far, at least with the update that was referenced.
We could just take the Quarians and leave the toasters behind.
Heyyy, but i like toasters! How am i supposed to fast-cook my grilled cheese sandwiches now?
Spoiler

I really hope we're refugees fleeing disaster not a bunch of tourist space hipsters.
