Mass Effect: Andromeda - We Get Answers About The New Galaxy

An interview with Aaryn Flynn, no less! Thanks for posting this.

He seemed to be pretty careful with a few details, as if he was unaware that Mac had already spilled those beans. I wonder which interview happened first? Discretion is no doubt reflexive, at this point, for these guys. Very cool interview.

That's not good news since his work on the ME3 story.

What about his work in ME1 and ME2? People conveniently forget he might be one of the few people left over from the beginning of the project  :D

ME3 story was good. It hard to make a final to make everyone happy.

Really taking out the green option, i have 0 issues with blue or red options .

I think his work from ME3 is what people are worried about =P

I don't know everything he worked on, and I imagine as most of it was probably pretty good but he's forever known as the guy who wrote the ME3 ending around these parts until the end of time itself.

Who's worse: Casey Hudson, who co-wrote the ending and weaseled out afterwards, or Mac Walters, who also co-wrote the ending but stayed to clear his name?

yeah but ppl fail to see that ME 1-3 never have a whole plot write from day one and they were remaking the story as each game came out. That why there are plots whole or lines of plots droop from 1 game to another. Like the Dark mater line of plots.

Well I've always said that the problems with how the writing was going to end up being was there in the first game because they built the Reapers up as this big unstoppable foe. We were always going to need some kind of BS space magic in order to beat them.

If you believe the internet, neither of them should ever work again apparently. We're kind of overly harsh like that.

Though I'll give it a chance. My main concern is that if they're going to do the big explorable zones thing again, I want them filled with higher quality side content than what DA:I had.

Do that, give us the standard BioWare companion stuff, and give us the solid combat gameplay they built with ME3 and I should be pretty happy with it overall.

Just so. I expect the game to be okay like the trilogy, fear it will be as boring as DAI, and hope it will be as good as DAO. Right now I feel like I have too little information to make a more accurate prediction.

Or we didn't need to beat them but instead trap them forever. Could be an interesting story as well.

His work in ME1 wasn't that noticable (Drew was the lead writer after all). And ME2 had a very messy main plot and it doesn't really help Mac's reputation.

Mass Effect has several advantages, in this regard.

First, it has great gameplay, as opposed to DAI's suicide-inducing gameplay.

Secondly, we will have that awesome new Mako. That thing is co-designed by the Need for Speed team. It looks like it's going to be fun. It will definitely be much better for traveling large "zones" than those terrible mounts in DAI.

Thirdly, I'm pretty certain they won't make the same mistakes made by the DAI team, in this regard. The games have always been largely different, and they've had years to listen to us ****** and moan about those pointless, empty expanses and vapid fetch quests. Even lovers of DAI offered that as a point for improvement. I'm confident the MEA team got the message.

That's another failing, not an excuse for failure.

Good side-content, to balance out the filler, is my main hope, as well--if only 'cause my greatest worry about Andromeda is that they'll repeat the Inquisition, 'This zone/planet sure is pretty, shame there's **** all in it but rifts, shards and notes (etc)' mistake.

I have some faith that they'll deliver on that front, even with the leak, purely because it's actually rather rare for BioWare to repeat the same mistake twice. As has often been observed, they generally fix what was wrong with the last one, but in the process come up with new and revolutionary problems.

Whether you end up loving the game or not is contingent on the new compromise they've achieved being more or less to your taste than the last one.

My point was rather that he was involved with ME1 and ME2 and yet most people around here love those games. There's no need to think MEA is destined for failure just because he is one of the many people making it. Maybe Creative Director suits him better than being part of the writing team. People don't usually get promoted in hopes their game will suck.
