Found a new interview, not sure how old it is, seems recent.

"It's important for us to have elements from the Trilogy for fans to have in the background," Walters explained. "Ultimately this is intended to be a fresh story, but we want to have things for people to find and go 'oh, I remember that character'.

I found this quote intriguing. Does that mean a character from the trilogy will show its face in Andromeda? Or was it meant in a more general way?

I'm pretty sure they ruled that out, already. They've stated in several of these recent interviews that there will be references, or "Easter eggs" in MEA that refer to trilogy characters. Fans of the trilogy will get the hint and smile; new players will be blissfully ignorant.

If that's the case, I hope it's not someone overly important. In another thread someone proposed Maeko Matsuo for the cameo and I think it's a good candidate. Appeared in only one game in only one location, didn't die by player's decisions and was quite likable. And I liked the voice actress.

Right, that makes more sense. To be honest, I'd be happy with just some small references and easter eggs as nods to the trilogy.

What Im curious about is whether this will actually be good, or fan-pandering schlock like Inquisition.

I bet the N7 is our brother or something.

This is my guess, as well. Moreover, I am willing to bet that the 'trick' is that you either get to play as N7 BroRy (Dark Knight), or as ? SisRy (White Knight). Since I have been lead to believe through playing Shep that an N7 is humanities most kick-ass individual, I am deeply troubled that Andromeda's female protagonist may be less than desirable to play.

They'd never make one sibling weaker than the other, even by implication.

I think the N7 is actually daddy Ryder, the third Ryder in the family photo. This is the third time I've posted my theory online. Someone will adopt it and start spreading as their own, soon enough. ;)

They ruled out major characters showing up in Andromeda. Minor characters could still show up. They even said a long while ago that we would see a few familiar faces.

While I doubt they will and I do not have much interest in that, I do not think it is necessarily a bad idea so I don't mind the possibility.

The theory that the N7 is a parent character instead of a sibling character is not a bad one and the dynamic has the potential to be interesting  but I am still holding out hope for my Bro-Bro = N7  theory.

While it depends on how it may be executed, I have the potential to be happy with either theory turning out to be true so let's keep on hoping  :)

Bro-Bro is basically what I've been calling the theorised N7 sibling character. What about Pa7 or Papa-7 for the parent character theory? Papa-7 = N7 theory?

I recall one sibling definitely looked older in that family photo, so the older sibling could definitely be the N7. (I need to look it up, again.)

I think it's humorous how obsessed people have become with the "N7 antagonist" idea. When I suggested it, I didn't really have a lot of evidence. My reasoning was simply that they said he was "not our PC", but "is plot critical". People have latched onto that passing thought/theory and refused to put it aside, for now.

Hopefully the first novel releases on schedule, and isn't delayed to match the game delay. The novel should answer a number of questions.

There are a lot of theories going on and with what little information we have combined with how there is a fair number that do not read the interviews themselves and rely on word-of-mouth, there is bound to be speculation mistaken for facts.

There is a lot of potential in the premise so I'm infinitely curious as to what we'll see upon the game's release. I'm planning a blackout so I can be more or less blind even to what companions we'll have: the wait has the potential to be horrible but the experience tends to be worth it.

I do plan on getting the book if I find the story teaser for it interesting.

Yeah, I usually go "blackout", as well. They'd spoil everything, otherwise, between official spoilers and the community's ability to deduce.

Dragon Age: Inquisition had a very spoiler-rich time before release. One of the trailers even spoiled Hawke's appearance for me and was disappointed at that. This time I want to dodge as much as I can.

It is why I don't mind that we haven't recieved that much information especially since I like hanging out on the forums to participate in the discussions and the speculations. The premise of the game and such information is information I am fine with knowing before the game's release.

Yeah, I'm also going to flee from this forum like it's on fire. ME1 basically spoiled all of its story beats for me through marketing and that wrecked my enjoyment of the title relatively speaking. Ever since I've gone full blackout once the information comes out. About the only thing I care to know are companion names.

According to interviews, the team are planning on going into details in the fall so unless information I don't want to know comes out earlier than that then I'm planning on leaving the forums in the fall.

I know the moderators usually set up a spoiler-free forum but even then I worry about spoilers especially since people sometimes seem to have different definitions of what they think constitutes a spoiler.

I've never understood why they reveal so much. A few pics, a few names, and a brief, relatively spoiler-free gameplay trailer would be enough to satisfy so many, it would seem. BioWare seems like they always hold it tight to the vest for a time, only to give way a third of the game just before release.

I'm looking forward to the spoilers. If I like the spoilers, that increasing my anticipation for the game. If I don't like the spoilers, I know the product is not worth my time or money.

It has sounded like you're on the fence with this game. I can see the appeal, if that's the case.

I can understand that: I assume a similar strategy with most games for the same reason. Bioware is one of the very few exceptions I have: as I've enjoyed every game I've played of theirs, I feel it is likely that I'll enjoy this one as well and so I have already decided on buying it. Telltale is an exception as well.

Undertale was an unusual exception since I'd heard the game was best played unspoiled and I heard enough praise that made me believe it.  It was worth it.

I'm on the fence, but realistically know that I will eventually buy the game. But at this point I think I will wait for some time. Wait for major bugs to be patched out, wait for the price to lower or used copies to be available. Depending on fan reviews and overall reception, I might actually see if I have willpower enough to wait for a GOTY edition.

Despite everything I just finished saying, I feel more than a bit of this myself, this time. I hate that I may have to spoil so many surprises for myself, but it is preferable to buying a shite game.

My worries aren't at all about gameplay, but about content. I need to see in which direction they are taking certain things. I almost have to hang around for spoilers to learn this. It's that, or read post-release reviews and forum posts, which would probably be far worse.

I'll make my actual purchase decision close to release. But this isn't DA or ME3. They may make missteps, but the devs can't do much more than annoy me because it's all a clean slate. I literally made myself sick over Miranda, but that can't happen yet.
