That might be interesting, particularly since the trailer might hint at N7 guy going missing in action. N7's companions during that hostile alien attack look likely could be Drack and Cora, two rumored companions for the protagonist.

I'm glad that MP seems connected to SP. Hopefully Mac's simply using marketing speak for the drones, and the better players actually get better content for playing MP, as they rightfully should.

Ryder?  The fan nickname is canon?  Also, who was the ponytail girl in the trailer?  Was that the player?

 

It wasn't so much a fan nickname in the sense that the fans made it up. It was a theory based on a dogtag that was glimpsed in an early teaser.

Let me remind you that the most treasured Dragon Age game of all time also "tied you" to family. Remember the Couslands?

 

I hate family in real life and family feels, but I found the family the DA:O and DA2 worked very well.

My main concern is the family. From a RP perspective parents and siblings are fine(just don't make their only purpose to die like in DA2), but I don't want to get stuck with a spouse and kids if I didn't want that for my character.

 

Especially if the game is going to try to use them as a cheap way to get me invested. Simply throwing a kid at me and saying "you care about them now" doesn't work and 50 hours later I've completely forgotten who the hell Shaun is or why I'm supposed to care about him because I'm too busy looking for more adhesives for my gun mods because every god damn mod requires it.

 

It's a good point. I don't mind them limiting our motivations within reason, but I hope they avoid a situation where our main story goal is finding or protecting someone the main character is related to.

it honestly pisses me off.


Because they want to feed a small amount of info to feed the hype and get everyone excited. Though it'll probably end up disappointing like ME3.

I hope people will stop saying the MEA team is taking the "Fallout 4 approach" to PR. This is clearly the opposite of that. They're going the "tell, don't show" route instead. Because why show gamers a game when you can give them text instead?

Reapers: Trapped in Dark Space as of ME1 by vast distances. Floor the throttle and reach MW galaxy via conventional FTL in the few months before ME3 anyway.

 

I've no doubt the Andromeda colonists will simply do the same.

Nothing will stop people from saying it's either the Fallout 4 approach or that this obviously means the game is terrible because they would show us something if they had it.

 

Though this is still really minimal even as a "tell, don't show" route.

Because we've played BioWare's games? The lore of Mass Effect and Dragon Age changes from game to game. 

That happens in pretty much every piece of fiction. Small retcons to make things fit, and if you can't roll with that then you can't enjoy anything, atleast not sequels. Point out something that doesn't do small lore changes to make the setting fit together.

You forgot to count the time Shepard was dead, the timeline in Mass Effect 2 the time period between ME1 and 2 which is a minimum 2.5- 3 years.  It is safe to assume the Reapers had a plan C if the Citadel Relay malfunctioned or was disabled and Saren failed.
