It wasn't just unbalanced. P/R system was also inconsistent. In ME1 and 2 if you're Renegade, for some reason you're a jerk to everybody and a xenophobe pro-human. In ME3 you're a monster that betrays his allies. If you're a Paragon then you're cliche hero-type but also naive as hell. If they would strictly determine that Paragon = Idealist and Renegade = Pragmatist then it would be better. No need to be a jerk to everybody and no need to suck up to authority figures.

I agree completely. I love the dychotomy a lot, but mostly because I played the three games so many times I can choose renegade options without fear. I know which Renegades are good dialogue actions and which Paragon are not boring. But at the beginning, pick a renegade option was so risky...

You know, I was watching a clip of the Simpsons and I couldn't help but imaging Ryder in Homer's situation.

N7!Ryder: "Here are your lunches, and no trading your fruit for firecrackers."
Ryder: "Aw, but Drack just got some bottle rockets!"
N7!Ryder: "You stay away from that Drack!"

Commander: *going over the recruits* "Tug in that shirt, shine those shoes- Oh, for the love-"
Ryder: *wearing a beer hat* "...A space seagull stole my helmet, sir."
Commander: "Alright, Ryder, I don't like you and you don't like me."
Ryder: "I like you, sir."
Commander: "Uhm,  alright, you like me but I don't like you."
Ryder: "Maybe you'd liked me more if you got to know me."
Commander: "What are you: a comedian?"
Ryder: "Well, I'm no Elcor Halmet but I do a pretty fair Commander Shepard impression. "Eh, this is Shepard- This is my favorite Commander- I should get a glass of water."
Commander: "Arrrgh."

Crash Course in Linguistics

Krogan squadmate: "Well, the ship's busted"
Turian squadmate: "Looks like water has leaked in."
Asari squadmate: "We still have the repair manual, right?"
Ryder: "Yeah but the English side is ruined. I guess we’ll have to use the instructions on the other side… Le Ship?! What the hell does that mean?!”
Turian squadmate: "“It means ship.”
Ryder: "“You can read this? Good because I don’t speak this strange new language.”
Krogan squadmate: "It's French."
Ryder: "“It sure as hell isn't from Earth!"

N7 Quits

(The N7 holds the ARK coalition hostage with planted explosives.)

N7: "Did you hear me? I said I quit, Monty! And since I quit, I can do anything I want..."
Councilor Monty: "Is that so?"
Elcor Councilor: "With great fear, what do you plan to do?"
N7: "Ohh, I have so many ideas. After you abandoned me on that planet, they threw me into a prison and oh, every night I kept myself sane with thoughts of what I'd do to you."
Coalition Councilors: *gasp*
Salarian Councilor: "You must believe us: we thought you were dead! It is not too late to stop this"
N7: "Oh but it is too late: a lifetime too late."
(N7 approaches the table where the coalition councilors are sitting)
Elcor Councilor: "With immense horror, no, not that, I beg of you."
N7: "Oh, what a lovely desk. It would be too bad if someone, ohh, I don't know... didn't use a coaster!"
(N7 removes the coaster from the under the glass. The coalition councilors gasps and N7 laughs.)
Councilor Monty: "That was mahogany, you madman!"
Elcor Councilor: "With despair, the stains will never come out. With great sadness, it was so young."

N7: "Such a nice tidy office. It must be so easy to think yourself above the rest of us who has to scramble in the dirt... maybe it is time you start living like pigs!"
(N7 upturns the garbage can and a single piece of crumbled paper falls onto the floor.)
Turian Councilor: "I- why you-"
Asari Councilor: "You- You do not even respect recycling: there is truely nothing decent left in you!"
N7: "Ohh, I hope I haven't upset you... Bongo head!"
(N7 starts playing bongos on the asari councilor's head)
Asari Councilor: "Ohhh, I should be resisting this but I'm paralysed with rage... and island rythms"

(N7 stops by the window, holding the detonator to the planted explosives in hand)
Coalition Councilors: *gasp*
N7's brain: "Alright, now to say something badass while I escape"
(N7 presses the button and the bomb explodes)
N7: "That's for employing me for eight years!"
N7's brain: "Genius"
(N7 leaps out of the window and into the get-away shuttle. It cuts back to coalition councilors perfectly fine but with their table slightly burned)
Elcor Councilor: "With unbelivable rage, for this there shall be no refuge, there shall be heaven, there shall be no hell, there shall only be vengeance and the cries of the guilty."

Note: I was bored?

Oh man. I was really hoping to at least take control of the Tempest and ride somewhere. But alas. And also, requirements similar to DAI? the trailer was in game wasn't it? It looked way better than DAI graphics. Probably gonna need a 970 for higher for this.

Definitely agree. Let me make tough/pragmatic decisions without turning into Space-Hitler.

Bioware getting rid of the p/r system is my favourite bit of info so far. Hopefully they'll implement those shiny new "grey options" well.

DA:I was really early on the new generation of consoles and frostbite in general, they improved a lot since then. The tech isn't different, they just handle it better now.

Wow.  Lots of information.  This was needed for me.  Thank you.

A lot of good stuff going into ME:A.  I think my heart skipped a beat when I read they almost didn't do ME:A (ME4).  To me,  ME is like Final Fantasy.  It should just never end.  I can understand that ME3 had an effect on them from the response.  My opinion doesn't matter.  You just pick up the pieces and move on.  I was one that didn't quite understand the ending of ME3, but I had no problem with looking forward to the next ME.

Anyways, I wish the best for the ME:A team and hope they are enjoying the process of creating their next masterpiece.
