Let's say they got reaper tech, and go 30 light years a day.

*divides 2.5 million by 30*
*divides that by 365*

Oh.... that's only 228.

Okay.

Yeah they already space-magic'd the existence of "conventional FTL" outside the mass relay network =/ so there you go.

*sigh* Okay

Reaper tech works. All it requires is an expansion of the lore - no retcons, no breaks. The collectors manage to build a damn reaper easily enough, and Cerberus (yeah yeah, I know) manages to co-opt the tech as well. It's not a stretch for the council and humanity's greatest minds to take a reaper drive apart and put it back together again.

Of course, in saying this, I know I'm summoning a few posters who say that's impossible because they don't like the idea of it for whatever reason.

If they had Reaper tech FTL drives, why are they using them for some exploratory boondoggle rather than in warships to fight the Reapers?

What would faster FTL drives do to the Reapers? Make them angry?

How about the space travel concept in Dune were instead of physically traveling the distance they "Fold" the two points in space like a sheet of paper, travel through where the to points meet, then arrive on the other side when space is unfolded.

I don't believe a word said in that interview

well it all sounds really nice. but none of it can be proven true or false until we know more. it sounds promising but i'm not gonna get my hopes up again after expecting so much from EAPlay concerning ME:A and receiving so little.

Hell those interviews tell me alot more than that video.

but yea, massive chunk of salt required.

Lol I kind of forgot the whole point of eezo actually. You don't need mass relays to go FTL, it's just that the way they utilize eezo to reduce mass isn't efficient enough to go fast enough to zip around the whole galaxy. But the eezo still allows conventional FTL at 12-15 light years a day.

So we're fine.

sorry, I was suddenly freaking out for nothing.

I wasn't ever against it.

I was merely pointing out that people aren't going to stop with the "They're pulling a Fallout 4" thing or the "They aren't showing us as much as I want, so the game is in trouble".

and that what they did tell us was still very minimal.

Here is video from Ashe (aka Lady Insanity) addressing some of these points.

From the YouTube Gaming interview

  • The dialogue wheel will be pretty much the same, but instead of clear black and white choices (paragon/renegade) there will be more 'grey' options
  • The protoganist is called Ryder, there is no default gender, the player chooses it
  • 'There is more than one Ryder. There is a Ryder family, we're going to tie that in to the story.' (This wil start in character customization, which will be quite different.)
  • There will be some, but not much references to the old games, instead the whole point of Andromeda is creating room 'to look forward'
  • Multiplayer is optional and you can experience everything the singleplayer has to offer without participating in multiplayer. But when you do choose to play multiplayer, the experience will feel seamless from the singleplayer experience.
  • The only vehicle you can control is the Mako, no space battles for you
  • The game is in it's 'final stretch', now it's mainly 'polish, polish, polish'

From this IGN interview

  • Relations will be more realistic, they will evolve more organic
  • Romances will no longer be choosing the flirty dialogue options, which lead to a romance scene after a while
  • This also applies to non-romantic relations with squadmates, they too are more dynamic

From this Kotaku interview

  • When you land on a planet, you don't just visit for one single objective goal, they want you to hang around and explore
  • ME:A will be a bigger game 'all around' compared to previous Mass Effect games
  • The journey to Andromeda took hundreds of years, so the game is set hundreds of years in the future

From this Games Radar interview (with Flynn)

  • The Need for Speed team helped creating the Mako
  • Mako won't be doing crazy stuff anymore, like in ME1
  • Driving the Mako will be 'actually fun' (their words, not mine)

Things that were already confirmed:

  • The female from the trailer is default (female) Ryder
  • You 'wake up' in Andromeda (so you're frozen/in stasis during the centuries long trip)
  • The new Normandy is called Tempest

It sounds nice but I'll hold out my joy for now. I'll believe it when I see it. And no info about the writers involved with this game? If the game is at the polishing stage right now then it means the story should be ready at this point, right? Did Mac write the plot by himself?..

I'm really happy about Ryder having family. I like it when we can determine how our protagonist relates to people they're apready connected to.

Well, the main issue is that they should react to your relations. Malcolm Hawke was good, because player could headcanon him in any way, same true for the Trevelyans.  DA2 siblings or Leandra on the other hand were hard-coded preset characters with little room for interpretations. Not to mention that player had little to none reasons to be emotionally invested in the orge scene on their first PT.

They'd better explain that 'family thing' before the release, really. How it works, who are those people (mother? father? siblings?) etc.

I don't really tend to watch commentary videos for stuff like this, so if you're expecting a response or for me to not keep saying what I noted you'll have to summarize that video =P

We're not actually, they need to drop the accumulated charge all the time, remember? That, or the PC becomes Fryeder.

The same thing acquiring nuclear power does in relation to using steam or sail vessels in terms of naval warfare?

Other stuff:

  • Forum-member DextroDNA asked Michael Gamble about the default male protoganist. Gamble replied that he looks awesome, that we'll see him and that Gamble plays the default male protoganist in his playtroughs.

Man this intriguing....WHY NOT LITERALLY SHOW ALL OF THAT IN THE ****** TRAILER!

Instead of creating this AVant garde crap!

There was supposed to be a lengthy scene in DA2 before fleeing Lothering, but it was cut because they made the entire game in like 9 months.

What in the actual **** are you talking about? Nuclear-powered subs aren't dangerous because they run on nuclear power. They're dangerous because they have nuclear warheads on board. Just having a Reaper FTL drive would do nothing to even the odds against the Reapers. Even if we had faster FTL drives than the Reapers the only advantage it would yield is being able to escape the Reapers in space more easily.

Right, Reapers supposedly go twice as fast as council ships, don't need to discharge, and apparently have unlimited energy.  Strange they wouldn't have just magically taken over Andromeda if they didn't have any range limitations.

A ship that can move twice as fast without the need to discharge allows for a lot of possibilities.

The advantage of a nuclear submarine is that they can stay submerged nearly indefinitely.  That was the major advantage over diesel-electrics.

I'm assuming, given the player character's surname, that romance fans will call themselves (LI's name here)-Ryders.

And I thought the names that the players would use for the PC would be bad. Thanks for putting that eventuality in my head. Take your honorary like. I've got coffee with a side of Brain Bleach to go consume.
