Thought this space could use the nicer twin-brother of the ventilation thread. Instead of a space to vent, why not a space to just share those little good things of your day?

Nothing big, nothing serious, just sharing the things that make life a bit more worth living at the moment.

For starters...

Saw the Andromeda trailer, and read that the female speaker at the end is the default Ryder.

Default female protagonist for the first trailer, as brief as it is?

I am surprisingly okay with that. It didn't feel forced or shoehorned at all. :)

Happy early birthday, Steelcan! :wizard:

All that overtime is paying off and I'm making a little extra money, which is a happy thing I suppose.

Happy early birthday Steel!

For me, it's seeing my family this weekend. We've got my parents 36th anniversary, Father's Day, I get to see my niece and it's right around my 10th wedding anniversary as well. We're going to have bbq and hang out as a family. Things were pretty rough for us over the last couple of years, so we love having some peaceful moments to be together. :)

Family's always good. Good to hear.

Probably should have posted this yesterday, but spent about 5 hours cleaning my new office that probably hasn't gotten a thorough cleaning in about 5 years. 30 pounds of trash paper and obsolete records later, and... it's still a mess, but now one that just needs to be organized on a single bookshelf, rather than swamping every table and half the floor.

This may sound like a vent, since the guy I'm replacing responsible for the room more or less stood over my shoulder the whole time doing nothing, but it was actually quite soothing. There's a feeling of accomplishment when you handle something that's been left unresolved for who-knows-how-long.

Thanks. :)

Hey, congratulations on getting that office cleaned! It is a great feeling to see a mess organized and conquered, even if it isn't your own.

Despite my rant in the vent thread earlier, another little thing that's making me happy is how nice it is outside today. It's a little hot, but it looks like we aren't going to get thunderstorms today. Which is good. I love them, but my poor terrier does not. :P

Every year during the summer we do a general sweep of the flat. Throwing out/giving away stuff you don't need and getting a better view of what you have is super satisfying, for some reason.

Started a new book last night and it's been pretty fantastic. It actually got me laughing pretty hard too.

I get the keys to my first house on Monday, so I'm terrified excited about that. Lots of responsibility and budgeting, but freedom! Freeeeeedom!  ^_^ I'll be able to do so many things I can't right now. It also nicely coincides with Father's Day, so I can go do something nice with my dad after he inspects the house (he's a building inspector, so he can tell me what needs doing and how).

I also made a cake with my brother last weekend, since he's home from the military. We made icing animals for the top of it (which look more like aliens/ghosts/who-knows-what) and too much neon pink food dye. It also tastes like a shoe. But it was so much fun!

Congrats- and good timing. Family can make any major life transition easier. When I did my first big move, my father and I made a road trip out of it, and he helped me find my first real apartment and move in.

That's sweet, and probably means more to him than you know. I don't know his situation, but a lot of people don't realize how it's moments like this that help soldiers and siblings a lot. It gives them something to remember during long missions or hard times.

Thank you. Not just for sharing, but doing something nice with your brother.

YAY!  That's awesome for you!  Congratulations!

On a similar note:  The hubs and I are moving this week.  We are moving "back to NY", which in reality is actually a little misleading because I work in NYC and currently live, literally, 3 miles (the distance of the tunnel plus a half mile) to Times Square.  The new place is "upstate", which again - misleading, is north of the city, but in New York (versus New Jersey).  We're excited.  We need a change of pace.  We get the keys on Saturday and the movers are coming on Friday, so we can do a slow move of the small stuff between then.  And the best part?  The new place is dog friendly, so it's puppy shopping (i.e. rescue) time!

Oh, awesome! Good luck with the puppy. Can't wait to see pictures.

Today is my 10 year anniversary with the Sasquatch and he took last night off. :)

Congrats on your anniversary, Nat! And congrats to Dave on the move (and the puppy?! I HAVE A FIERCE NEED).

Several things on my Yay list: I know I trash talk the BSN as much as anyone and there are times when it's so cringeworthy I just have to disappear for a few weeks, but in all honesty I am happy AF to be here and to have met all of you. Not only are the DA discussions fascinating (sometimes morbidly so ), but I'm really just grateful to have formed so many friendships over the years? Y'all are great, I'm just sayin'.

Also, I received my dog's ashes today, so I get to take her home at last. <3 Ah, I'll miss that old girl. Sixteen years was a long time. But it's good to have her 'back' in a way.

Aaaaand time for a confession: I just now bought Skyrim. I've never actually played it for more than ten minutes at a time, and that was at my uncle's house. But it was selling for twenty bucks and I did have fun with it, so...

Well, it was nice see you while you were here. [/saygoodbyetoyourlife]

In my amusing/goodish news of the moment...

I broke through writers block on something I was trying to write for a friend. On a break, but made real progress at long last. Feels good.

And...

Yesterday, I got a special award coin for giving a VIP a tour of a border area. Besides possibly passively making fun of a few dystopian border guards for five minutes, I got the award/token/thing as thanks for a history brief I got virtually no warning to do. It was basically 'hey, five minutes get on a bus.'

Went well, and I got the momento coin as thanks. Which brings me to today...

I decided to flip a coin to decide what gender of character I was going to play for my first Andromeda playthrough. In the interest of gender equality/fairness, and avoiding a certain dirty joke, I used the momento coin.

Turns out, I'll be playing FemRyder first. Cool.

And that's my good news of the day. We'll see how we can play it, but I think I'll take a break from the military-commander type of persona and try for a more 'civilian' main character. Maybe a geek-girl with guns?

My dog Wilbur is now almost a year old now. Every time I sleep, he likes to curl up in the crook of my arm. I've woken up more than once to find myself holding him like a stuffed animal. He's a scotty/doxie mix, so he isn't going to get very big.

And thanks for the well wishes guys. Much appreciated. :)

If you have bought the legendary edition for PC, you will be able to get the remaster for free when it's out in October.

A shocking thing happened last night: Cleveland's 52 year-long championship drought has finally ended as the Cavs came back from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Warriors. I was born in Cleveland and have a lot of my extended family over there, so I'm well acquainted with Cleveland's infamous history of sports heartbreak. But it's all over now, and we've got King James (who led all players in points, assists, blocks, rebounds and steals for the series) and company to thank for it.

Had two nights of mandatory fun, which went a little long, but had some genuine fun along the way.

One of the interesting bits, though, is that I might be introducing a Korean friend to Bioware in the not-so-distant future. He's looking at getting an XBone or PS4, and asked to try and play my games. I brought three with me- Destiny, FO4, and... Dragon Age: Inquisition.

At the very least, it'll be interesting.

The fact that this paragraph is a thing that exists:

Just 500 pages of Bull dry humping Shale's stones while Sten joylessly referees and Dorian and Cole wave little flags from the audience. The Hero of Ferelden and the Inquisitor jump on eithers' shoulders and chicken fight. It all ends with Hawke soaping Varric's chest with mud and a large orgy.

Went to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror with some friends last night; it was amazing. And we hit the bar beforehand where I had too many shots and a cute girl chatted me up and asked for my number. B)
