So according to Mac Walters, the multiplayer in ME:A will feel "seamless" from the multiplayer experience. I haven't seen anyone address this yet, but any ideas for what this could possibly mean? Or, is it just one of those words that the developers like to throw in to stir up some intrigue?

It generally refers to clothing appearing to have no seams. Even though they do they are just cleverly hidden from view. Which does sound like something BioWare would try to pull off.

I think it is 'just a term', what I took it to mean is that they were trying to reassure the masses that MEA mp will be reasonably close to ME3mp which worked pretty well.

I will be looking forward to MP as much as SP for this game but I am worried, their 1st foray into MP with the frostbite was not good.  I have played a ton of DAIMP and still play it but that product had an unacceptable level of bugs and performance issues and poor support.  (And I am not slagging the people who worked hard on it as they did their best and came up with some great creative classes and fun game play.)

I too am excited for the MP. I thought ME3's MP was great...

So basically what you're saying, is that MP will revolve around trying to find the article of clothing with the best-hidden seams? This sounds interesting. And quite fashionable.

What I think is is that the multiplayer will take some aspects of the single player and open them up for a group to undertake. I am going to take a guess and say that the "horde" type multiplayer will be coming back - ME3 multiplayer has a larger following still than Inquisitions. It would not make sense to remove that. Of course, they will expand on it though. Maybe it's not just one small arena type area it takes place in. Maybe it's a more linear type multiplayer experience where you progress from area to area, exploring as you go along. Maybe the multiplayer characters actually have some voice and personality, and converse with one another.

"Seamless"

This is an interesting one, because it implies that multiplayer won't be a separate button where never the twain will meet.

But that multiplayer missions can be accessed within the game world.

In DAI, your multiplayer team could be seen hanging around Skyhold (though they didn't have much to say for themselves).

In MEA I'm guessing mission access points that are embedded, but optionally embedded.

Probably mean combat and controls will be built with MP in mind and SP fans will be left feeling like they're playing an MMO solo.

Like, does no one read leaked surveys these days?  It basically explains the integration between MP and SP (i.e. there are extra side missions that can be played as MP, or solo or as something like Galaxy at War from ME3).

Didn't they mention some kind of strike missions you could either play yourself or send NPCs to handle? Maybe those will have the option to be played as a MP match... during your SP campaign.

Too bad Naked Mideon isn't around to benefit from this new trend.

Seamless sounds to be more like a "Multiplayer and Singleplayer Fusion", like in Dark Souls. Either that, or I must've ran against something today, because I have no clue what people in this thread see in the ME3 multiplayer as "seamless" and why everyone says the tweet implies, that ME:A's MP will be like ME3's. ME3's multiplayer was everything but seamless, it was it's own thing, and please don't tell me singleplayer and multiplayer were connected...^^

ME3's multiplayer was insanely good and fun, spent more hours with it than singleplayer, but the whole galaxy at war thing felt more like a companion app to me, nothing seamless there, again.

A seamless multiplayer and singleplayer experience in Andromeda... holy f***ing sh*t, that would be the most amazing thing after fried potatoes!

This matches my own thoughts. I didn't play DAI long enough to see MP implemented.

Assassin's Creed Unity, while it had its launch week woes, made an effort to implement seamless MP with some success. (I'm not here to defend or debate it's fun factor, quality or variety). In ACU, various Assassins were positioned throughout Paris. These guys had assignments for assassinations, rescue missions, heists, etc... These were the MP missions. You could access them by walking up to these assassins and "speaking" to them. (Alternately, you could access them instantly via a game menu, as well.) The missions could be played cooperatively, or solo. Either way, it was relatively seamless. There was a generally brief load time, and then you were playing.

I'd love to see MEA MP missions be playable both cooperatively and solo. Generally, if I'm playing ME, it's because I want to be immersed in the campaign. While it could be fun to quickly jump in and cooperatively take down a mission, having your buddies pester you to play CoOp could be annoying and immersion breaking. I really hope for Solo MP capability.

This is exactly what the survery leak says will be the case.

I assume he's referring to this, from the leaks

Active Strike Team Missions:

When you encounter a Strike Team mission in the Single-Player mode, you can leave your Strike Team at their base and decide to tackle the mission yourself with your multiplayer roster of characters. You also have the option of tackling the mission by yourself, or recruiting up to three friends to play with you. The more friends you bring, the greater the challenge and the greater the reward. These missions will play out using the Next Mass Effect's multiplayer Horde mode (more details on this later). These missions will include a variety of thematically appropriate objectives, like defending a Settlement against Khet attacks, or recovering a Remnant artefact off of a planet before an outlaw gang gets there first. By taking an active role in strike team missions, you can earn special Single-player rewards in addition to the usual multiplayer specific characters, weapons, weapon mods, and pieces of equipment which can be customised between missions. Additionally, players who join another person's Strike Team mission will receive bonus in-game currency and multiplayer XP for helping others with their missions.

Of course, it might have changed a bit from then.

What's MP is like in Mass Effect 3? Is it like a PvE raid  or is it a PvP  fight?

ME3MP is basically PvE horde mode with additional tasks.  It seems that MEA MP will stay PvE.

It means that there will be some missions while playing SP that will offer you the opportunity to jump directly in MP mode.

Something like "base xyz is under attack send an armed team and hold the position". You as the player can then decide to send an AI-team to do the mission or doing it yourself (thus entering MP mode).

This is what seamless multiplayer means although I would love the opportunity to play said horde mode missions with my protagonist and his/her crew.

Ty for explaining. I prefer PvP, but I'll try that if I can master the game controls by the time Andromeda is out :)

Probably we will play as scout teams that are sent in advance to check the status on the planets. Something like in ME3 where we were the goons that eat **** meanwhile someone was flying around trying to salvage the situation

The core combat of Dragon Age has always played like a solo MMO with a pause button, so blaming that on MP makes no sense.

PRetty sure that's Zappy, since Zip died in a freak accident on Tuchanka, or some nonsense like that.

As long as it's optional and has zero effect on the campaign they can do whatever they want with their silly arena mode. Though to me, it's just resources that could be better used making a more compelling single player experience, but EA just loves them micro-transactions.
