what if Bioware is dramatically changing its dynamic to people who were born after 1994?

I'd literally feel orphaned if Bioware did this.

I'm 52. Hush you. ;)

Hey, if this old fart can role play as a 30-something kid, surely you 30-something kids can try role playing as a 20-year-old.  I think I'm up to the challenge, but when they start asking the PC to change his/her own diapers though, I quit.

I'm guessing they're gonna play the, 'Yo, you're actually kinda new and shitty at this, but literally everyone else important is either missing, stuck in cryo or dead, so... Have this sweet spaceship?' card. It's the Hero of Ferelden approach.

Still better than giving the flagship of the fleet to a fresh cadet who flunked his exams and then snuck aboard by feigning illness 'cause... I dunno, the plot said so?

it's more about the player and crew aren't the galaxy's heroes yet at the start, they're noobs. that hasn't got to do anything with age.

It does have to do something with age though, you can explain pretty easily that the characters are inexperienced because they are young, but guys in their 30s or late 20s that are complete noobs is a bit more weird

Haha, I know many that are. You'd be surprised.

But it's noobs when it comes to making difficult decissions that define the galaxy.

An absurd overreaction thread on BSN? Is it a day that ends in Y again?

I hope they'll make the armor diaper-compatible.

Lol at this thread. Nobody knows anything about the actual ages we'll be presented with, let alone about the personalities and characters.

If something as arbitrary as an age number is enough to tank the game for you then.. well good luck with that :)

Just look at the setting of this game:
Its an ARK. They need some time to get a hold in the new galaxy, and then they must be still young enough to have a lot of kids. So it makes a lot of sense to put a bunch of barely grown ups at the Ark and just add some veterans for guidance.

Hadn't thought about it but it makes a lot of sense

I'm actually reasonably sure it already is... Or, at least, I can say with some certainty that having to take all that crap off every time you needed to go tinkle would suck.

Not that it's a direct equivalent to our armour/spacesuits, but we know for a fact that Tali's suit has working plumbing.

In the Mass Effect universe people can grow up to be 150, and that's not an exception. So, read the actual article and stop screaming.

As someone who is 2 years from 30, please don't make me feel creepy hitting on 20-year-old teammates. Please.

Also I don't empathize with children.

  Feeling concern

I've only scanned the article but Walters doesn't say young - he says green, which isn't the same thing. And the cast in ME was relatively middle aged. Shepard was young (not for a soldier, necessarily, but age wise) as late 20s. Perhaps it's the effect of the profession I'm in, but someone in their late 20s would be green and unseasoned.

I doubt they all are on their 20s, I prefer a mix cast when it comes to age. I have to say Liara on ME 1 and Sera were not my favorite characters at all, probably because they seem to immature but than again same for Oghren and he is older.

Also people should watch The 100 and than get back to me about authority and young age on a sci-fi world.

If you would read the thing, you'd know you're entirely right

I mean, as a practical matter, I would assume the population on the Ark would skew younger.

Alot of the cast being relatively young makes a lot of sense to me with maybe a few older veterans coming along to provide experience and guidance.  Younger more adventerous and open minds are needed for an endevour like this.

An 18 year old would be lucky to be trusted to run a copier machine unsupervised, let alone a space ship.

Didn't you hear? In response to the feelings and sensibilities of certain fans, they've decided to lower the rating to T for Teen with Andromeda.
