An 18 year old would be lucky to be trusted to run a copier machine unsupervised, let alone a space ship.
I would think anyone on the Ark, whatever their age, would be well ahead of the bell curve. Child progedies and wunderkinds might be the norm.

Well as we all know menopause begins at 25.....
You're still young TC.
As someone who is 2 years from 30, please don't make me feel creepy hitting on 20-year-old teammates. Please.
So that's a roundabout way of saying you're 28.
I'm actually thirty. I don't need fictional characters to be the same age as me to empathise with them and I'm certainly not so arrogant as to presume a person in their twenties is a child. If you're that self-conscious about your age, that's on you.
So you find it creepy hitting on someone younger in a game who is not real ok thanks for the laugh
I just hope it's not "Life is Strange" in space.
"OMG, This Turian is just hella cute!"
"Yeah, like totally hella hot!"
"Hey I'm like totally modding my gun!"
"That gun is just so like hella hella!"
"Let's like dance for no reason."
"Hella yeah b**ch!"
Uh? On what planet do you live on where people in their 20s are considered children?
Seriously.
You're evil. I'm going to laugh my tail offDidn't you hear? In response to the feelings and sensibilities of certain fans, they've decided to lower the rating to T for Teen with Andromeda.
We just can't be happy with anything can we......
I really like this.
It'll be interesting to see a crew of youngsters dealing with surviving and rebuilding, and how they grow from the experience.
I recommend you 100 then
(at the beginning is a "meh" TV series, but then those teenagers acts as adults in all the tough decisions they made)
I hear "Younger Cast" and for some reason think of the Fantastic Four reboot
Andromeda - Hunger games.
God help us all.
THIS IS WHAT I FEAR
Honestly 24+ is fine for me, but you get into like... 18-19 territory and I feel Hunger Games vibes. Or Young Adult novel vibes.
Or Twilight vibes...god...

Nobody said we'd be that young. And again, what they actually said is that we'd be greener. Our character will have less experience then Shepard. That doesn't mean we're suddenly 18-19 years old.
Sounds like good news to me, hopefully the protagonist is closer to my age(22).

Corrected for you
(YES FOR CHLOE PRICE IN THE SPACEEEE)
Being serious: I don't think the age is the problem, for me is about the mentality. I can't stand infantilized characters just for the sake of it (I'm sorry, I couldn't stand Merrill, I'm sorry, I'm sorry).
However, I think the point devs made is more about experience as commanding officers than a mention of their age. Very ME1 vibe, where a part of your team were civilians with not much experience (Liara, Tali), a soldier not very experienced regarding she was constantly not promoted because of her surname (Ash), and two characters with military experience but not much experience in being part of a team (Garrus, Wrex). Kaidan and Shepard were the most veterans.

yeah once the **** goes serious it get pretty good and is another reason why I wouldn't mind it. Though I do think we will have squad member of all ages specifically if we get a party member from a new race. though I'd also think we might a young alien to contrast their race.
Do we even know who the companions are?
Didn't like Tali and Liara, I take it?
I'd almost throw Jack in there, but her immaturity was more about her woobieness than being 'cusp of adolescence.'
Liara was 106, making her older than Ryder when Shepard's Father was a twinkle in his Granddaddy's eye.
If the game characters are having early onset midlife crises hopefully it's well written and relatable.

Judging as asari based on humans' lifespan isn't really fair. She's very young, barely an adult, for her race.
They'll likely be using the same CC for ME:A as they did for DA:I, so you should be able to make your Ryder any age you wish.

The same CC"
God help me!!! The hair..... where did my hair go?

It's about as fair as the lack of representation for the over 30s in gaming.
Lol at this thread. Nobody knows anything about the actual ages we'll be presented with, let alone about the personalities and characters.
If something as arbitrary as an age number is enough to tank the game for you then.. well good luck with that

A pragmatic would say if you got to colonize, then use young breeding material. Old for managerial and government positions, young to fight your wars and young to breed.
