One of the main excuses from Development of why they can't developed console games to run at 1080p AND 60FPS is that the console hardware is limited.

Well, considering the Xbone S specs, what is the excuse for MEA to not run at 4k/60fps?

I think Xbox One S is just a small bump in power. The Xbox Scorpio is the powerful console to be released in 2017. Scorpio may be able to do 4K/60fps.

Don't know, but did you see the news that Xbox one players will get a free pc version for all Xbox games they buy? Xbox Play

Nope. The One S is a teeny bit more powerful than the regular One, but it's mainly there to offer a 'slim' option, rather than a substantial power bump. You're thinking of Scorpio, which will be substantially more powerful... But probably still not to the point of being able to run complex games at native 4K with solid FPS. It'll be able to upscale to 4K, though.

As long as the visuals aren't from 1989 & are sufficient for this era in gaming then I honestly don't care if they're at 40fps. I would prefer stunning visuals but the entire game doesn't need to look like one continuous cutscene. Gameplay is what matters, graphics are nice but if you play a game for the graphics then get out. ME 1 still looks great and many games prior to even it still look good to this day. Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay and snacks that's all you need.

That the console hardware is limited.

Console hardware will always be limited unless you want to pay $1000+ for your console.

No way - and I doubt the Scorpio will either, unless it turns off all the AA etc.

1k+? I'd rather spend that on one of those matrix gaming chairs. You know the one from grandma's boy, http://www.mwelab.com/builder/ it would totally be worth the money and with recent personal circumstances it'd be perfect me. I could really become one with the no life way with one of these, next level no life.

No, it won't.

No console you ever buy in the next 5 or 6 years is going to do 4k/60fps. The new GTX 1070 can't do 4k/60fps, you'd probably need 2 in SLI to achieve that. The GPU in the Scorpio is comparable to a 980, a card that's going to be outdated by the time the console releases late next year. It MIGHT do 4k UPSCALED at 30 (maybe not even 30)fps. And even then, that's not true 4k and would likely look like ****. Also take into account the graphics settings are going to have to be turned down slightly if you want a 4k resolution, even if it's only upscaled to 4k, so textures and model quality are gonna be the same as they are now.

If you want to play games at 4k, you're going to have to shell out a lot of money for a good PC. If you want to play 4k games @ 60fps you're going to have to shell out even MORE money.

Maybe not this time. MS seems to be serious about power. They may be investing (ie losing money) on Scorpio. They spent a ton of money on Kinect which could have been spent on the GPU/CPU.

Assuming that the GTX 1080 is enough to run ME:A with 60 FPS @ 4k, that alone will cost you around $600 USD.

We PC gamers pay quite a bit of money in order to maintain our hardware superiority, and 4k w/ 60 FPS isn't extremely common among even us right now.

Just gonna have to hope ME:A is well optimised like other Frostbite games. Even the 1080 might struggle at native 4k @ 60fps.

Rigs that can run games at 4K and 60fps cost several times more than an Xbox One when you build them yourself. Get a frikkin' clue.

maybe, just maaaaaybe the fact that you cant expect the performance of a 1500$+ gaming-PC on a console for 300-400$...?

this forum really needs a facepalm-smiley.

Thanks for the responses.

I thought I could be cheap and get a Xbone S to play MEA at 4k/60fps on consoles. I guess I will invest in a beefy PC and 4k monitor to enjoy MEA on.

Yes, it said 4K in the reveal trailer, but that was for movies/tv (you'll still need a 4K tv and actual 4K media to experience it)

click and click.

With upgrading the HDMI technology in the box, we're able to support 4K video streaming. So we said, okay, if we're going to support 4K video streaming, let's also put a UHD Blu-ray drive in there for 4K disc, so you can watch video in 4K.[...]but honestly, do not buy this box if you think you're buying it to play your Xbox One games better, because it was not designed to go do that. It was designed to play your Xbox One games exactly the way your Xbox One does.

I don't want anybody to think this is somehow a performance boost for Xbox One games. That's why we said HDR on-screen, and that's what we want to be explicit about. Outside of that, you should expect your Xbox One games to run exactly the same.

Xbox One S is just a Xbox One slim, so nope and all the nopes.

And The Scorpio is a 6 Teraflops machine, so I doubt it will be able to run Mass Effect Andromeda 4K 60 fps either.

A GTX 1080 is an 8.9 Teraflops card and that will probably have problems running Mass Effect Andromeda 4K 60 fps (on ultimate settings at least)
