Has anyone managed to get the full 20?
I think it's unlikely somehow but after several goes, I've only managed a measley 9. I nearly got 11 but due to my team cowering like ickle bunnies while I fighting the last mech.
What's the highest you've managed, how did you do it and with who?

The highest I managed was 18. Had my entire team NAIL one mech to HEALTH level (not dead), AI Hack him, then have that mech + your team rail the other one. Mech + team VS 1 Mech = lolz

Glad I'm not the only one who had issues with this bull**** mission. I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to save the cargo. I'm currently holding off on doing it until I get some more upgrades and stuff. In general it feels mostly impossible without spamming Heavy Weapons.

Uh. I got 1. Wow. Ha! Maybe I'll...redo that one.

I went in pretty early - like right after he gave me the mission. I had Garrus and Miranda with me and I managed to save 8 crates 4 times, then managed to save 10 and decided I had enough of that planet and moved on to liberate Jack.

ya, i did it fairly early on as well. only got 10 crates >< maybe ill save it for later on another play through and see if i can do better. just a PITA as a vanguard though.

I'm Vanguard too - that would have been a nice level to be an Enginner on. *sigh*

Yeah, as I said, I'll save this mission for later when I have more upgrades/better weapons/more skills. But I do get the feeling it's impossible to save all 20.

The secret to this mission is using the m-920 cain or whatever. (the nuke/railgun/etc) The aoe damage after its impact explosion does not harm the crates. Shoot at the farthest away mech with your pistol to draw it closer, aim the Cain at the middle point between all three mechs and shoot, killing all three simultaneously. I reliably get 18-19 crates doing this, haven't managed to get all 20 though.

Anyone got the full 20-Crate Bonus?

my first n7 mission, and i was playing veteran. ugh. i got 8 after about 5 deaths. no cover, on veteran, level 8, and a time limit....not fun.

apparantly it's doable with the nuke. Nuke the first 2 and draw the third's fire with some ranged shot (sniper, powers...whatever). Heck if you have the upgraded ammo for the nuke you can probably beat it with 2 nukes.
I don't think you get anything special for saving all 20 so I wouldn't worry about it.

A lot of people have posted about getting all 20 in other threads. I think the strat is nuke the first 2 and immediately aggro the 3rd. I personally have only gotten 16, but without the nuke. I'll use the strat on my second play through.

I only saved 13 myself. Those mechs on hardcore weren't fun. I didn't invest anything in AI hacking so I was screwed from the get go.

I got 18 on casual using the nuke gun. I don't know if you could get any more than that

I have read there is a way to sneak around without triggering the "20 crates" countdown. This lets you target one of the mechs and take him down, then you can nuke the remaining 2 mechs.
I have just gotten Tali and and fully loaded Cain, so I am thinking of trying this mission now.
However, it's my Insanity play, so I don't know if this is going to make 20 crates impossible.

Just got all 20 with one shot. The instant the mission loads, switch to the Cain and start making your way down. When the weapon switch is complete, start sprinting, and when you're approaching firing position, start charging the Cain (you have to hold down the fire button for a while to fire, but you can run while doing so). If you time it right you should be able to release the Cain round while the three mechs are still close enough to each other so that the one round, fired at the ground roughly in the middle of the triangle made by the three mechs, instagibs them all. At least on Normal. Took me about 5 attempts to get the aim right, since sprinting while charging the Cain is not really conducive to precision aiming.

I was kinda bummed out that I didn't get anything special for it, though.

I average between 15 and 18...hitting the mech on the far left keeps more boxes from getting damaged cause its got so many right by it then have your party focus on it while you work on another....just dont forget you have that one mad at you....

Nice work! I still haven't managed to get more than 11 - I started to get ratty and so I settled with that.
And because I'm a Thicky McThickerson I can't get the Cain to work - so I just used the Collector Projector - I like the single stream of molten buzzy death.

I'm not sure if the Cain oneshots them on Insanity but the usual strategy for 20/20 is to Cain the middle and right one together since they cross close to each other and then snipe the left one to agro it before it breaks a crate.
There's a limit of one of them agroing you at once so you are basically forced to use the Cain to make 20/20 unless the difficulty is really low maybe.

Yeah i noticed that limit on my last attempt so decided that from now on during future playthroughs I'll wait till got the Cain and can 'nuke the site from orbit, only way to be sure' as Ripley would say

Saved all 20 on Insanity using the Cain heavy weapon and a Sniper rifle as a Soldier.

You'd think the Cain would destroy a couple of those crates when you fire it. lol
