I'm sure this thread has been done a million times, but if you could design a gun for ME:A what would it be like? Personally, I always thought an assault rifle based on the Kassa Locust would be really cool gun (and probably OP). Any ideas?

Followed by Scorpion rounds the face.
I also love incendiary grenades.
And the wraith just seems to work so well.

I'd plagiarize the Spinfusor from Tribes.
The Spinfusor has a relatively slow fire rate because it must be reloaded after each shot. The shots themselves also travel at a medium velocity, allowing them to be dodged. However, it should be noted that when the Spinfusor shots make contact with something they deal damage in an area of effect with a good amount of damage being dealt at the point of contact.
Another invention from the Forge of Hephaestus, the disk launcher uses existing mag-lev technology to create a fearsome magnetic cannon, colloquially referred to as the “disker.” Spinning up a magnetic “spinfusor” disk, the launcher can then fire it at extremely long distances. Few weapons can match the Stormhammer, as many tribes refer to it, for the amount of destruction it can deal.

Give me an Anti-Material-Sniper-Rifle (like the RL Barret-Rifle or the Widow from Mass Effect) and give it a magazine (or drop those STUPID thermo-clips again, they make no sense within the lore and aliens will not be nice enough to use them anyway (so how would we re-supply during a mission?)...and even if they did: They'd be incompatible with our own!) and semi-automatic capability
Would it be OP? - No, it's a single-player game damned, OP only exists in multi-player-games IMHO (FPS, MMOs etc.)
Oh and a pistol that's the equivalent to a .44 Magnum Revolver
(kicks like a mule, but if you really hit something it stays DOWN!)
Also: Give my damned Assault-Rifle a grenade-launcher or shotgun-module (under the main barrel) ![]()
ps: And drop the weapon restrictions (tying the power-recharge-rate to the weapons carried MAKES NO SENSE - neither does having a biotic N7 (still a special forces soldier, even more special of course because of the biotics!) not make use of all weapons available as the situations demands...again: Single-Player-Game, so it's not unfair or OP or anything else like that!)

Soldiers should be able to use biotics and tech as well.

But in the ME universe I'd have to say a weapon that's transformable and can be infused with biotics for more power. Kinda like a Swiss army omnitool.

Bear hands.
Or a gun that shoots guns.

Voila! The ZF-1.
It's light. Handle's adjustable for easy carrying. Good for righties and lefties. Breaks down into four parts. Undetectable by x-ray. Ideal for quick, discreet interventions.
A word on firepower: titanium recharger, three thousand round clip with bursts of three to three hundred. And with the Replay button (another Zorg invention) it's even easier. One shot and Replay sends every following shot to the same location.
And to finish the job, all Zorg oldies-but-goodies: rocket launcher, arrow launcher (with explosion of poisonous gas heads - very practical), our famous net launcher, the always sufficient flamethrower (my favorite), and for the grand finale: the all new ice cube system.
Now how much would you pay?

How about an assault rifle - that while hip-fired functions normally, but when aiming down sights, a scope pops up and it turns into a high power one-shot sniper rifle? You see, it's the functionally of two different weapons, in one single, light weight and affordable rifle!
...Okay, it's literally basically the Widowmaker's rifle from Overwatch, but I think it would pretty sweet.

Hoping for a stealth mechanic, so as others have said: my bare hands
But if you meant a gun, then I'd have to say the M490 Blackstorm from ME2. AKA "the black hole gun"

I never got to experience the M490, since it was retailer exclusive and I preordered elsewhere.

M920 Cain, there's no kill like overkill.
If not, Claymoar although the lancer and the ME2 Revenant are also decent.
Also needs more revolvers.
