Mass Effect: Contact

Twitter thread says they'll explain how we communicate with aliens. But not now.
Curious they'd keep that a secret.
With a lack of further info I would like to speculate wildly for the fun of it.
Thoughts on what Andromeda would look like if we were contacted by 'them'?
And responded by building the Arks. To make 'Contact'
Edit: Ark Contact Initiative; Instead Ark Contingency initiative?

I hope the capability to "communitate" with native Andromeda spieces won't be explained by touching some magical obelisk "by accident"... such plot devices have worn out already.
Agreed.

Well ol' Stone Cold always has a piece of sign language for occasions of language barriers.

I know I beat this drum loudly, and often... But still: give me 'Darmok' in RPG quest form, and I'll be singing the praises of Mass Effect: Andromeda for as long as I've breath to spare.
It'd be grounds for instant admission to the 'all-time favourites' list, no questions asked.

Coz nothing says peaceful coexistence like smashing two beer cans together and drinking what left in a display of Machismo.
Where's those memes of yours about primitives?

Actually I was referring to the sign language he usually saved for Vince and the referees.

I don't know what they will do, but the first scene where the species from MW make contact with some race from Andromeda have a lot of potential.
It can be super emotional or very violent or both.
I'm excited.
I want this game now.

I hope they make the first contact scene dramatic... like Close Encounters of the Third Kind. ![]()

It would be funny if it was "Contact", but once Bioware saw all our speculation that the game would take place in Andromeda and the MW sent an ark there (****, was that like two years ago now??? Time really flies), they thought "damn...that's a much better idea" and then changed the entire premise of the game.

Wasn't the original post something like: "Mass Effect: _ _ _ _ _ _ T", prompting many of us to predict "Contact" and others to amusingly predict "Dentist"?

It was --n---t.
And yes mass effect dentist was funny as hell.

Only with Krogan.....and maybe Vorcha.

If they don't like the fish we offer them, we'll slap them with the fish. Simple.
Asari don't need to resort to this violence though. Asari just fry their brains when the alien are unruly or remove their will and keep them as mindless working slaves.

Maybe some aliens (the most advanced species) have telepathic abilities. That would be interesting not only in a communication perspective but also as an element of control over andromedians (with a slight remanescence of indoctrination fear of loosing control of yourself)

The simplest and most direct path is for our omnitools to have translation software built in similar to the way Star Trek does it. Even if it is unrealistic, I'd rather not have multiple alien languages to listen to. This is one area I can accept some hand-waving to keep the game and story tempo moving along.

The flip side is do you want to spend 2 - 3 hours in a game to learn a new language? Especially on repeat playthroughs?
I can understand that a language barrier will be there but sometimes Gameplay and game flow must take a priority over things like this. If Mass Effect was a diplomatic simulation game then it would make perfect sense to have this, but being an Action/RPG(dating game) it would drag the game down quite a bit.

Or we will get the pudgy Asari we see in the trailer to "Embrace Eternity" with the native population and she will learn their language from mental contact.

And this wonderful little do-hicky uses mass effect fields to gently beak up plaque and massage the gums....
