Yeah, and they repaint it every year, because everyone should be able to remember what year it is just by looking at the ceiling.

Mass Effect 1 is set in 2183, this number says 2364. Flynn told a reporter that 400 years wasn't a 'bad guess'. Could be, could be. Nice find.

Although wouldn't ships be painted before leaving to Andromeda?

Then why not GX4632? year 2364-2186=178 years...so maybe the time traveled to Andromeda is 178 years.

IMO it's just some kind of serial number.

IT BETTER BE. 178 years is not long enough by far.

This.

Also it's not a goddamn leak if it comes from an official trailer.

Or, you know, they use the GeForce GX 2364 for those holo maps

I would imagine it makes more sense to display the name of the body you are orbiting or current system rather than simply the current year.

Assuming it is a display in the first place and not a hull number or something else.

As long as they leave after the events of Mass Effect 3, I'm happy either way.

If its a year, it'd have to be a year of construction or something like that.

They aren't. Sorry, but it's pretty much confirmed at this point. Walters heavily implied it (and sort of sarcastically, in a "duh" sort of way) in a recent interview. Or at least it came off that way to me a little bit.

Like Walfum said, it's likely year of construction. OR. It could be the year we left The Milky Way and now the year is 2564 -- 2764. Depending if 200 or 400 years.

Maybe it was the year the ship was made? :P Or was the Tempest already inside one of the Arks?

It's really unfair on the guy who paints it, since he has to spend his New Years Eve waiting until exactly midnight before repainting the year.  Mind you, he doesn't have it nearly as bad as the guy in charge of painting the clock.

Maybe a mech paints it. XD

It's not. It's pretty much confirmed the Ark leaves pre-ME3 ending. My guess is it means nothing.

Could be a reference to Star Trek: The Next Generation. The series starts in the year 2364.

If it is the construction date, then it would mean that it was constructed in Andromeda.

Why would they paint the current year on the ceiling of the ship? What possible benefit could that have?

That depends on technology of course but I would assume 300 or 400.

"Duh, we're leaving during Mass Effect 3's events - there's no other way we can dig ourselves out of this hole we created with those endings other than going to Andromed-- I mean, so we can tell a brand new story."

Im tired, someone do math again using Reaper speed (30 ly per day) how long exactly would it take to reach Andromeda. But not much more than 178 years
