Bioware reverses your choices except the one that matters least...

The ME3 Ending!(they are all bad and should be rewritten at the onset of MEA)

That's right they don't have the gumption to canonize the only ending that can push the universe forward (Destroy) and instead they have concocted a space magic plot/lore loop hole somewhere before ME3's ending to dance around something that would be as easy to rewrite as Udina or Anderson for council , Kill or save Rachni queen.

Going to Andromeda doesn't bother me, it's the when and the how that are completely out of line.

It turns MEA into a continuity subverting Pre-Sequel that is contemptuous for it's established canon like how Star Gate Universe did as much as possible to be a separate entity.

They made a mess and instead of fixing a problem they are soft rebooting in a highly annoying manner.

Not sure what responses you expect lol. Yes, they picked a solution that allows them to do a sequel while bypassing the issue of ME3 choice all together. Up to anyone's personal opinion whether it's a deal-breaker or not for their enjoyement of the new game

I don't know...makes sense they'd ignore it. The ending was controversial, and they'd avoid it for multiple reasons...least not to give them breathing room to tell the story they want and not be chained to the events of three other large games.

Why cannonize it if you can leave it be for now and let people decide how their story ended instead of shoving it back in their faces? I don't see a problem here, and what would they do if they picked something other than the ending you may have liked? It's not a winnable situation, this idea of separating the stories is a good one.

I certainly wouldn't want to deal with all the baggage, in story and out of it. Maybe down the road one day but certainly not after it was left open to be interpreted to a point. It'd be more important to me to tell a new story, something fresh and full of potential that isn't shackled to what was.

They are not reversing our choices, they just don't care what we chose and frankly I am glad. I don't want them to be a slave to try and accommodate every choice we made in the past for me that ruined a lot of Mass Effect 3 and it would only get worse over time as they cram more and more into going forward.

Besides if they made an ending canon, there would be more upset people then what you are seeing about this for I saw more anger at the fact they canonized the fact that Uldina was the Human Representative on the Council then them trying to distance themselves from the endings of Mass Effect 3.  I can only imagine how much rage there would be if they made one of the endings canon.

I just act as if Shepard trilogy never existed. The decisions you made in that trilogy won't effect this game anyway, so I don't care that much. I'm only hoping they follow ME lore as much as possible. That being said, I'm more upset that the asari have actual eyebrows now.

Their decision is intellectually equivalent to the Star Trek Reboot that ignores so many established reasons why what's happening in the movie couldn't happen it's unbelievable.

Well, to me it's respecting my ending and decision without risking cannonizing a different one, so we're going to have to agree to disagree and I respect that. I still hope you enjoy ME:A regardless of your feelings on this topic. :)

All they had to do was jump ahead a thousand years after Destroy, but no they prefer sideways side stepping in between their own lore minefield.

This "all they had to do" you're proposing ignores choices made by Control/Synthesis/Refuse fans.

This. Basically re-title the thread "Why didn't they choose my destroy ending over everyone elses! /tantrum" and it'd be a bit more accurate.

It's a smart move thematically and market wise. Wonder if the OP would still be crying if it was some kinda early prequel because it ignored his choices.

Yeah, nodody would've complained about that.

I honestly don't care what path they should've taken for the next ME, but every possible solutions would've been criticized.

At this point trying to accommodate all the choices is a non-starter.

The strength of this setting is that it is a way to reset everything but keep the flavor of the first 3 games. Anything they do (prequel or sequel) in the old universe is going to be hindered by the first 3 games.

It's not a bad way of doing the series. Do a few games and wrap them (mostly) up then find a way to tell new stories in the same universe. It works well, and it can let larger events still inform the lore but it keeps the developers from being too tied down and watering down their stuff.

Agree... also, at this point, trying to accommodate the people who are just determined to be upset about the whole thing is a non-starter as well.

OP:  We've been through this again and again and again here on BSN.  ME:A is moving forward... like it or lump it (and it's looks like you're just going to have to lump it).

Well, yeah ... Frankly I'm glad they are not canonizing any of the endings for ME3. Since it was "speculation for everyone" I can give my Shepard pretty much whatever ending I want. :)

Mass Effect Andromeda's going to take place 2.5 million light years from the Milky Why.

ME3's terrible endings will not matter from that kind of distance. Feel free to ignore them. I sure will.

The only way to fix the mess that they made with the original trilogy would be to basically have the majority of the game be cleaning up that mess unless you invalidated all of our major choices(even if you jump ahead 1000 years you'll still have to invalidate some choices).

I don't want to play that game. I want a new story, not one that's basically just cleaning up the mess the last one made of the setting.

shut up man. You're deluded. Get over it. They probably should have had a "canon" ending from the get go but nothing we can do now. No need for whining.

Really? That's a serious belief? Or are you just saying that because that's this week's method of whining about the endings?

FWIW, I'm with you on preferring them to have gone with canonized Destroy, preferably low-EMS. And yet, here we are.
