I bought my ME2 via retail and have all the DLC for it. I had planned on playing it shortly after I'm done with my current Mass Effect run but I've hit a snag. My dvd-rom just started having issues (might be a bigger issue with the mobo, stops my system from getting to Windows so it's unplugged until I can trouble shoot,) so it isn't an option for installing at the moment.

Is there any way to register ME2 on Origin with the CD keys I have now? What happens to the DLC after that if you can do that?

Yes, you can register with the CD keys you have.  In Origin, click "Origin" (top bar, on the left).  Then "Redeem Product Code".  Enter your CD keys.  Then download and play.

If you bought the DLC with the same EA/Origin account that you use then they should appear ready to install in the Origin client.~

Personally since I already have all the DLC downloaded I just install it from them and Origin is quite happy to accept them, it recognises that I own those DLCs.

All the DLCs I had have appeared for me when I registered my retail key in origin. I have even spotted an extra heavy weapon that I've never seen before.  Basically a singularity gun...

EDIT: I remember now. It's the M490 Blackstorm.  It's apparently the preorder gun, but I don't remember preordering the game, nor ever having this weapon until I loaded my key into Origin.  I played ME2 several times before, but this is the first time with it loaded into Origin. I wonder if it's like BDtS and PS being free for ME1 in Origin now?

They made all the pre-order and Dr. Pepper items free and added them to people's account.

It's nice that I finally get to play around with the Terminus armour and Blackstorm, it was only available from one retailer here in the UK and then only for the standard edition.

I did not know this - I might have to do me another playthrough just to play with my new toys

Just go to the View Game Details section for ME2 in Origin, click on Get It Now for the piece of DLC you want and 'pay' the huge amount of zero Bioware Points for it.

Interesting. All the DLC I'd purchased already was there, but there are still some DLC that aren't free, such as Genesis and one or two of the alternative appearance packs.

Yeah, it's just the pre-order and promotional stuff that's free, not everything.

Beaten to the reply by AlanC9 but he's right. As I posted above, it's pre-order and Dr. Pepper items that have been made free.

BEWARE!!!

DON'T activate ME2 in Origin if you have it already installed on Steam. Stupid Origin will go bonkers and mess up the installation, trying to redownload everything that's already installed.

I have ME2 installed on Steam and activated on Origin, there shouldn't be a conflict. Even if Origin does detect the installation then it won't automatically download anything, as you have to agree to a EULA prompt and select a install language before it'll do anything.

Wouldn't Origin and Steam install to completely different directories?

The game files do, but there are some files that install in the same directory regardless I think (save files, application settings maybe?).

I have DAO on Steam and Origin (from when it was on the house), but the game is installed through Steam. I seem to remember that Origin does get confused about that, though I've never tried to pinpoint the source of its confusion and I've never launched DAO through Origin.
