No, this isn't one of those "let me be as evil as possible" threads. I just think it would be interesting to add in an interrogation scene and give us the option to use torture as a means of acquiring information, and also give us dialogue options to justify such brutal methods. I mean, there are plenty of people in real life who actually support the use of torture. I've seen tons of people defend the CIA's use of waterboarding, sleep deprivation, etc.  They can add in the whole "does torture even get reliable information" debate into it and have varying squadmate reactions, etc. And its not like Bioware hasn't done torture scenes in the past. They allowed renegade Shepard to beat the crap out of Elias Kelham in ME2.

I love torturing douchebags.

What a relief. I thought you were going to suggest one of those button mashing scenes from Metal Gear Solid.

I always found that torture scenes in these sorts of games are interesting to handle, especially when you're the torturer. If you're a massive renegade, then, yeah, sure, you'd probably be willing to beat them to near death until they tell you what you need to know. Once you turn the table over, everything suddenly changes. You're a paragon who doesn't agree with torture, but desperately needs to get information out of someone for something important. How do you handle it? Do you try and sweet talk them into giving in, or lose your patience and lash out? It can prove as being a test to your paragon Ryder's morality.

The interrogation scene in Thane's loyalty mission was pretty fun:

It'd be cool to see them add something similar into Andromeda, as well. Even if it's us who are stuck on the table this time, it would still make for some interesting dialogue.

No. Nobody wants to have to chase kids in slo-mo through gloomy unskippable forests.

I do hope if we have a torture scene It would be interesting and fun like Mass Effect 2 had. Though I do want to do more Batman like interrogations.

I liked the questioning scene in leviathan. Pushing someone to the limit for a good reason until they basically died and i got the information i needed.

Sort of the same kind of thing.

I feel like interrogation would be sufficient. Torture doesn't really fit in a BW game. If we're going to do anything gruesome like that, I'd prefer having alien autopsy scenes on the unknown Andromedan species like in xcom

I've been wanting legitimate torture in games for like years. Not only would it make for a really good moral choice but it would highlight a topic that nobody really gives a **** about in the real world.

It tends to work better if they give me a healing shiv for purposes of the "interrogation".

I wonder if I could get a space magic variant made.

Nah.

A savage would swear to kill every Turian sight for the Genophage.

A brute will hunt down the specific Turian who pushed the button and kill him so bad that every Turian he cant kill takes notice.

Difference is, the target can still fight back. The worst insult a Krogan knows is, "You arn't worth the bother". Or any comment along those lines.

In Reverse, clubbering unworthy foes strapped to a chair is kind of uncool in that context. They might still believe in interrogation if it's imporant because that makes it worthy. Headbutting commes across as a challenge of worth, "I challenge your worth and all you got to say, prove me wrong".

Loved the option in ME2 on Grunts loyalty mission on Tuchanka where Shepard walks up to that krogan that objects to Grunts trial, and you get the Renegade interupt to headbutt that minor Krogan clan chief.

Loved the clan elders comment, "The human understands!"

There "shouldn't"

But there could, I would love if that was a optional route, not so that picky players can avoid it but so that you can decide to take the character down that route.

How far can we go with the torture? Can we cut off a finger? Pull back the kneecap with a knife? Splints under the nails? Ripping out their teeth?

Where would the limit be?

For whatever reason I'm treating this thread as a thinly veiled inquiry into sexual fetishes...

Not my place to say perhaps but I don't think it's too hard to imagine that the typical Bioware protag can have a strong disciplinary side...

I think it would be interesting if they put in such a scene, but made the outcome somewhat more realistic than most media's presentation of the subject - you get information, but it's a complete fabrication that the person being tortured came up with because (s)he wanted you to stop hurting them....
