Because Javik ate all their livers.
How about the Yahg?
They've been rejected twice already - is the third time the charm?
Damn too slow again - they coughed their lungs up? (the Drell)
Talking of charm - pyjacks?

I agree why leave any race that was in the game previously out... just seems stupid
I agree, even if it takes quite some twists to get them all there (I mean the Batarians for example were wiped out mostly - there's some remnants under Balaks command (if you let the guy survive in ME1) that you can convince to fight with you and of course there's many Batarians who left the Hegemony because they were lower cast or had a price on their head etc. - same goes for the Geth, the Quarians etc.), still I'd rather have that (I am sure coming up with an explanation isn't that hard and even if it's not the most plausible I will take it if they keep the races (and not just a few but enough so that it's plausible there's a sustainable population!)...Mass Effect has been screwed enough with ME3, it doesn't need to lose more of its core substance (the races, the lore etc.))

Well said
I do try, man, I do try (and I mean it...what god would leaving one of the races out do, unless you want to snub some fans, which is never that great an idea IMHO (well: I could do without the Hanar and maybe the "walking tanks" (forget the name all the damned time...-.-), but none of the others (and I wouldn't like them leaving those out, despite us never having that much interaction with all of them)))
Still, here: Take a "like" ![]()

I can't see Batarians making a return. Nor the Hanar, Drell, Geth, Volus or Elcor.
Batarians: For one, most see them as terrorists (with good reason). They don't play well with humans. They still see slavery as a good thing. And after the Reaper War (or even during if we leave at the beginning of the war) most of the Batarians were all killed right at the beginning. Doesn't make sense in any respect to have them along for the ride.
Hanar: We've done the whole Enkindler thing now, and what more have they got going for them? Nothing. Mass Effect: Andromeda is opening up the doors to new players, as well as old. If we bring Hanar along, they are going to start going on about the Protheans and we've already covered all of that in the trilogy. Bringing them back would just be going over old ground.
Drell: Similar reasons to the Batarians. There are far too few of them to be worth the journey. Couple that with cryostasis and you're going to give them all Kepral Syndrome before they even get to Andromeda.
Geth: Geth don't need a home. They don't need a planet. Bringing them along would not only drain resources, but it would be pointless. We are going to Andromeda to find a new home, just as the Salarians, Krogan and Asari are likely to be doing. For whatever reason, these species need a new planet to call home. Geth can just build a space station. They can survive on any planet. Zero sense in bringing them.
Volus and Elcor: I think the best time to have developed these species would have been in the trilogy. Maybe we could have seen their homeworlds. Maybe we could have learnt just a little bit more about them. A new game for new players is not the place to continue developing a species. The same goes for the Drell now that I think about it. Better to just cut them loose.

As we've mentioned lungs, its seems the Drell have their lungs on the outside.
That won't work in all the dust storms we've seen.
The Shifty Looking Cow on the other hand...

But Combat Drones--- who says they're not a race?! They're cute and I love them.

Shifty looking space cow has enough of my credits to create a whole new Citadel in reaches of dark space. Shifty looking space cow does not need Andromeda
But Combat Drones--- who says they're not a race?! They're cute and I love them.
Well the answer is in the question, combat drones would have developed sentience and be at odds with Council law by the time the trek to Andomeda was even completed.
The reapers (as it was not answered last time it came up)

They don't need sleep, could've taken over the ship during the centuries long trip and ruined everything. They also tend to kill humans.

The only place for it to cryo-sleep is in someone's butthole. Pass.
