I want to meet aliens that are less technologically advanced, but still sentient and smart. I want to encounter a galaxy that doesn't have Mass Relays. Also, I don't want less advanced to automatically equal "barbarian."

As long as I can loot their stuff, I'm okay with it.

Though if they are going to go with a less advanced species, it would be nice for once to see them not portrayed as stupid primitives.

Exactly. I also wouldn't want a stereotypical peace-loving hippy extreme.

Maybe a race that's at our current level of technology, as opposed to super advanced system travellers or primitive club swingers.

As long as we're on this, it'd be nice if each species wasn't leaning so much towards "one thing" about them.

Like Quarians are the "Tech savvy species", Krogan are the "war like brute species", Asari are the "stripper species", etc.

Humans shouldn't get all the diversity.

I think this is asking too much of Bioware.

I need to forget all my expectations. -_-

Aww, but I was hoping for this kind of primitive.  :(

It would be great to have variety in that regard. I know is excesive so many especies plus milkwayers but I will be pleased with:

3 especies without selfaware/ 3 especies we are not able to communicate in this game (i.e. Rachni until Death Asari Speaker for the Queen)

3 especies in different stages of technological advance but not able yet to go outspace for themselves (as Drells without Hanar, Krogan without Salarians...)

3 especies with technological advance different to milkywayers but similar in capabilities

1 especies or 2 more technological advanced than ours

We're going to be the barbarians since Andromeda haven't had any Reapers destroying their galactic civilization 20,000 times over the last billion years.

My Milky Way ego wants us to be more advanced but for interesting gameplay it is best that the two galaxies are at least on equal footing tech wise.

This is how it will have to work, logical or not. We will have a conflict with one or more native species, perhaps these rumored Khet, because we've shown up in their space, taking stuff. (It will be humans vs batarians all over again.) If the leak is to be believed, the race for Remnant tech will be the difference in the conflict, and of huge import.

Of course, since this is a heroic game, we will be heroic interlopers, and the Khet will be hated oppressors; so our timely arrival will be for the good of all goodly natives of Andromeda.

I'm not even knocking all of this. It sounds perfectly playable. It just seems somewhat inevitable. I'll be impressed if it isn't extremely similar to what I've just described.

Thank you, Addictress, for starting a new discussion that isn't inane or disturbing. Sometimes, I think this place needs to be cleansed with fire.

Edit: can't make it through without at least one iPad typo

Not exactly. Even though the Andromeda never had the Reapers, the Remnants had to disappear (or hide) for whatever reason they were/are the most advanced. And since we are going to be fighting Khet or whatever they are called, I'm sure they'll be on equal footing with humanity.

Science Fiction / Fantasy is littered with cliche.

If BioWare can make it good cliche, I'll count that as a win.

Look at these great technologies we have: impressionism, expressionism, bauhaus! Take that, you alien Da Vinci!

I'd like to see both sides of the spectrum. More advanced and somewhat less advanced. Nothing too over the top, but you know, variety.

Having an alien Da Vinci in our party would be very, very cool. He'd be a Tech expert combat-wise I imagine.

I feel like it's no fun. Also you'll have to bring up the AI theme again since according to the trilogy, AI vs. Organic is inevitable.

Would be fun to face a alien race that is using advanced tech from an older civilization and that they think is magic/sacred and everything new is heresy. (a bit like the human empire from warhammer 40K)

A non-jokey version of the Hanar culture? Interesting...

Do you know who I would love to encounter in Andromeda?

Someone as advanced/ancient as them:

Last_Engineer_close-up_zpsaac7cc48.jpg

But knowing BioWare we will get something like this:
