So a friend of mine and I were together trying to get him a few NM completions because he has yet to get a Hakkon... I'm not strong enough to solo NM on what I wanted to play and he's in his 50's across the board.  So we open it up to Pub to get some more players.  NO ONE.  He and I then tried to jump into other groups, nothing - not a single group playing NM.  So we go back to make our own lobby and I tell him "Lets just see how far we get, if the winds are in our favor we technically CAN do this - if they are not then we die and try again"

Around the end of the first/beginning of the second board two people we know jumped into the room with us and the game became much more fun.  Then we get to the fourth board.

My 50 stat friend blue screens... so we tell him jump back in on us.  Suddenly BOOM someone else is in the room.  We kick the guy to make room so that my friend can get back in, BOOM there is another random... we ended up kicking 4 people in a row to get him back in.  He and I had HUNTED for people to play with and as soon as he's kicked everyone and their mother wants into a NM.

I was teasing him because we actually did kick a few leader boarders in the frantic attempt to get him back in.

So to those kicked (which is something I almost never do) it was nothing personal and I still feel bad about it the next day.

Unfortunately not yet... he still has yet to get a hakkon and I still don't have my PI amulet - so we will try again today when I get home from work.

Had the opposite series of events, towards the end of the night me and my friend and a pug were clearing NM.  Had a few people drop in, but didn't last long since we were going to fast clears and didn't pick many people up off the ground.

I have had almost 200 NM and four HB dragons  now and still no Hakkon drops. (I have one through store chests tho). But I did get Valos (still level 26) through a NM Dragon.

Why not? That sounds a bit selfish to me. If they are trying at least heap them out.

My friend is about there, we got all of his HB done and he is at close to 200 NM dragons - but he started after the weekend events so he hasn't gotten a single one.

Probably cause we were in a private chat and didn't hear them spamming "Over here!".  Or more likely we saw them in starter gear and 4 bars of health.  We didn't try to kick anyone since they were trying, but no sense of urgency when the player will just get 1 shotted.

Know what is a great solution for this?  PRIVATE LOBBY!

Wasn't my lobby and wasn't complaining just stating what happened.  We never kicked anyone, but neither did we go out of our way to pick up anyone.

Sometimes it's better just to let them lay... I've ended up the last person alive many times and wiped because I was stupid and tried to pick some of the randoms up.

We were all randoms at one time.  But I've had this discussion many times in the past on the ME3MP forums.

I have seen a fair bit of this recently. I don't mind really and don't vote to kick but it does kinda slow the matches down and is a little inconsiderate of them. Surely they realize that they aren't exactly contributing.

Everyone, including you, were all level ones running Routine once and WE ALL tried our hands at higher levels than we should have been. Its how we learned and worked our way up the scale. As long as they honestly seem to be trying than I will do my best to keep them alive.

That is also why I run in Routine and Threatening a portion of every time I play. I carry the match for the NOOBS and they usually really appreciate it.  Last weekend I had a six hour run in Threatening with the same three players it was really a blast and they had a great time even tho half the time they faded before then end. But they tried so hard and really gave it their all. IMO that is what MP is all about. FUN!

I can't speak for other people, but I knew what my limits were.  People would have to drag me into perilous matches since I HATED to be carried.  Only when I could be a contributor and NOT a mooch, did I go to the next level.  A level 1 in basic gear with 5 bars of health on nightmare is a HINDERANCE.  And yet never redskulled anyone in those matches.  Just didn't make a concerted effort to pick them up.

I will carry people all day long - as long as they are trying.  Last night, actually it was the match right after the one Autumnwitch was in - we jumped to NM.  A guy hopped in wearing the inquisition jogging suit and 5 bars of health.  We started the run and he stayed in the opening doorway.  We let him have about half the match then all went back to the beginning and spammed "Over hear" at him until he started following us.  He finally got the idea that we WILL carry you, we will pick you up, and we will shower you with candy (healing mist) to keep you alive as long as you are out there trying.  On the next run he came in with a Sbus and did everything he could to be helpful.  We kept him with us for the next 5 nightmares or so... it was probably the first week of him having the game and now he can say he has 5 nightmares under his belt.

MY FRIEND FINALLY GOT HIS HAKKON!

Actually it was right after you left Rhorim - I think he said he was at 189 total NM dragons when he finally got the 2 hander.

Seems like everyone but me got the 2-hander first and I'm still hunting that one down! And wow, 189 to get just his first?!?! He was overdue.

Thought about switching it to NM on you guys, but my play style on that difficulty borders on the stupid.  Tends to make runs quick, but lots of people are put off by it.

LOL - It's pretty hard to irritate us - unless you are a jerk, racist, homophobe or crying about everything under the sun - we will probably all get along fine.  We also have nothing against wiping on a match as long as it ends with everyone laughing.

It took me 199 nightmare dragons to get my first one out of a dragon, so don't lose hope :)

Na I don't really care for the last 2 hakkons.   I like my heart of pride and andruil's gift. :P   But I need those 2 to get my master stamina amulet and my crescent shadow. :P

Don't get me wrong, there is truth in what you are saying. We all have to get out and test the waters every once in a while. I wonder if I can take X in Y and not spend the whole match on the ground. It is, after all, a game and the goal should be fun.

I spend 2/3 of my time in NM. My stats are not spectacular and I usually have to stick with certain more durable classes to stay alive. NM is not for people with starter gear and 10/10/10, that is evident by the fact that they will "test the waters" and end up faded from zone 2 on within 20 seconds of each round. This sends a pretty clear message that you are either not (1) geared enough (2) promoted enough (3) playing the right class or (4) doing something right. I put 'L2p' last in this list intentionally as most (giving the benefit of the doubt) are likely great players in other difficulty levels but the numbers aren't in their favor in NM.

After any reasonable person spends the entire match in the fade they should deduce that they are just not ready for NM. At that point they should leave the group. Some will stay because they saw that the group was successful despite their lack of contribution and can just get some experience/completions without having to work at it. If the rest of the team is fine with it then I guess there is no problem with this. However, it does irk me a little (not enough to vehemently call for the player to be kicked) when people come in with bad weapons, a starter outfit, and low level into NM and make it apparent that they are just leeching.

There has to be a balance. There are some players that are just trying their darnedest and I don't mind slugging a streak of rounds out with them, and enjoy getting to be the helpful guy that contributes to their success. I can see the desire to move up to a higher difficulty but a small slice of these players either have no self awareness or they are knowing leechers to just be a fade-jockey for entire promotions.
