Im not sure what a Tempest is. But Erasmus seems like a more fitting name especially considering the mission of MEA is to explore and create a connection between the galaxies.

And it erases the previous trilogy!

Im not sure what a Tempest is.

Tempest:

a violent windstorm, especially one with rain, hail, or snow.
a violent commotion, disturbance, or tumult.

Oh, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in ’t!

The Tempest, Act 5, Scene 1

I dunno, seems like a decent enough fit to me.

What is a Erasmus?

It's a human-enslaving robot who killed a noblewoman's baby out of curiosity, starting a space jihad against robots that would result in a total ban of computers, forcing the spacefaring civilization of the next 10,000 years to rely on spice-addicted mutants to navigate the cosmos. Out of this came a lot of contention around a big ass pile of sand which was the source of said aforementioned spice, Space Jesus who became Space Jesus thanks to genetics and getting high on spice and his water-allergic, spice-sweating Worm-God-Son.

Tempest sounds way cooler than "Erasmus". "Erasmus" sounds like an alliance exchanging program between galaxies.

Shakespear?

Indeed.

But really, not sold on the name Erasmus. It doesn't sing. It doesn't dance.

I recommend watching it instead. It's not bad at all.

Shakespeare?

Indeed! Ever since the leak first suggested that our ship might be named Tempest, I've suspected that Shakespeare was the inspiration. It works on quite a few different levels, particularly when you consider the connection between The Tempest and Forbidden Planet.

It seems MEA is more like The Martian. More exploration less combat which i like.

:D  :D  :D

Sorry, I didn´t know about the ship and sounds really interesting, but the first time I read the OP I thought he was refering to an European Student Program called Erasmus too. I couldn't stop laughing because Erasmus Program is about university students from any part of Europe who spent all a year in other european university. People get really drunk during Erasmus year and that create bonds and connections between international students. So I thought he was making that connection.

I'm getting insane.

Also, The Rasmus

(I prefer The Tempest ;) )
