I ask this because I remember in a thread the OP said that the Ryder family 'starts' in the CC, which leads me to believe you'll be able to, in some way, customize your family. And especially, the term 'Ryder family' implies more than just one or two siblings, but even parents. I'm just wondering what this is all about and how it relates at all.
Is the Ryder family customizable or affected by the CC?

It happened in Dragon Age 2, you CC looks effected your mother and siblings. But that was an old time and older team, now things are different.

Pretty sure Mac Walters said it would depend on the settings you had in the CC for how your family would look. So kind of like DA2 or Fallout 4. That makes sense given the N7 character we first saw isn't our PC. They kept the helm on to keep this feature and the default family under wraps.

Nope. He didn't say that, unless he's been doing additional, in-depth interviews of which I'm not aware. (Always possible.) He never even explicitly said that our family member(s) would be in the game, though it seemed implied.
It is a logical supposition that any family members, if they are part of the game, will adapt with any changes we make in the Character Creator.

Sort of what I'm expecting. I imagine we might get color-coding, too.

I'm sure it will be affected by CC. I just hope they utilize things correctly.

Naturally.
Can't make a Maori B-Ryder who has two white parents and a white sister. Story wouldn't make any sense. Unless a plot twist is you being adopted.

I hope not because I usually prefer the female voice acting in video games. Is to much to ask to be able to listen your prefered voice type and not be penalized. I just really hate when they make bs choices like it in games. I'd rather they just let us choose and us deal with the consequences. It would of been nice being a mage same as Bethany or a warrior same as Carver. It would of made Da 2 family almost perfect.Pick a boy you have a sister.
Pick a girl you get a brother.

I'd prefer that they let us choose the gender of our siblings instead of having to choose either male or female. Some people might want a brother for Dude Ryder and a sister for Lady Ryder. The only strike against this is that Bioware might want to use the same voice actors for either sibling, so Ryder and their sibling would need two voice actors each, instead of just sharing a set, which would be more expensive :I
Other than that, Fallout 4 had a good system in letting us design our spouse, so I'd like something like that when designing our protagonist and their family. Also body sliders. Though I can understand if Bioware decides to go for a more DA2-like system. Probably some people would be annoyed at having to design multiple characters in a row if the entire Ryder family does show up.

I'd prefer to choose to be honest, say a male protag and a brother, or a female protag and a sister.

I sure hope so, otherwise it would feel bit weird if black Ryder had white parents and siblings or other way around.

Or a child from a previous marriage or relations ship etz... And became a part of the family... There are several ways to make things more of less happen.. With complications and twists.

I'm pretty sure that our family's looks will be tied to cc choices, it makes sense and they did it for DA2.
Personally I'm hoping that they don't do a brother/sister swap dependant on Ryderher/him it seems like a waste of resources. A class change might be interesting, if your character is biotic, tech or weapon based then the sibling is that type of fighter too e.g. one is a vanguard and the other is an adept. Or just opposites so if you do have to fight together it balances out.

I imagine at the very least, it'd be like DA2, where there were several preset faces for your family. Which one you got depended on what preset you picked for Hawke's face, and their skin tone. I'm not sure I'd want to actually personally customise their family's faces though. It might make them feel less like their own distinct character and more like one I should be controlling too.

Ok what I'm about to say next is going to sound like a ridiculously over the top scenario but this is the kind of thing that's possible if you make what we're talking about here an optional reality.
If the option is there you can actually roleplay a conservative asian ryder, who was adopted at age 12 into a family of American liberals. (You could actually go so far as to make one black and one white.) And he hates idealism and his idealistic sibling with a passion. Or you can reverse the role and make it so that he's the one that hates you because he's adopted.
You could also bring that Mysterious "Other" option BioWare arent talking about when they were asked if you can play as both genders.
Stick with me here.
You can now add multi-racial family structures including transgenders into your characters story to an extent. Difficult to dialogue obviously but easy as pie to headcanon.

Double the dialogue, animation, etc for every scene the sibling is in I'm guessing.
