It's the two protagonist bull**** that scares me. I could care less about the family aspect, just as long as they look good.

So far Bioware gave no indication they went for the dual protagonist route. People apre free to speculate, it' not necessary to freak out. During this part of development we get tons of theories.

The more Bioware draws from Dragon Age 2, the better.

Does that include reusing the same cave map over and over with endless giant spider respawns?  There were some good elements to DA2, but let's not get carried away with blanket statements.

I would like the idea. Absolutely. Out of likes but yes, I love this.

1) For me, the best way to approach this without making a narrative mess is making PC Ryder your protagonist during all game. However, at some points of the gameplay, for brief periods of time (maybe 5-10 minutes of narrative and some combat) you play as the N7 Ryder, the antagonist. If the N7 is a sibling, the opportunity of playing with him/her would be a great way to make us feel a connection. And a very good way to make us care and make us feel sorry for PCRyder about what that sibling is doing. Also, it could be interesting to play for the opposite interests of your protagonist time to time (maybe I'm wrong but The Witcher 3 already did that, didn't they? Geralt is the main protagonist but his surrogate daughter is a playable character time to time).

Also, it would make us conflict if in the end you have to make a decision like let your sibling die for his/her crimes or save him/her with the cost the sibling escapes and everyone hates you.

2) Two siblings, brother and sister would be great. If the N7 sibling is the older, it would be a great dinamic to oppose him as a less experienced and younger Ryder who had grown up idolizing the figure of her brother. The opposite dynamic is a great as well: if you play as maleRyder and then N7 is your sister, it would make the unusual approach of a younger and less experienced Ryder who had grown up idolizing the figure of his older sister.

3) The game uses the two Voice Actors regardless of who you choose as the main character.

more than one Ryder ?

that could be two playable characters or i means 2 protagonist ?

This would be NICE :) (if done right...you'd have to give both a ship, companions, romances and maybe even joint missions), as you could see things from different perspectives etc. :)

Still, sadly I don't think they'll do it (too expensive...it would double the companion characters, at least, and cut down on the time you have for either of your characters (unless they make a really really long game with lots of content (that's not filler!))

Dalish: You never see the clan again in game.

Come on, you can slaughter them all in DA2...

So everyone be warned, the Ryder family is there to be killed...at some point.

They key part is they make us care for them  :D

However, maybe devs surprise us and they don't kill Ryder family...

... until the second or third game, when we already care about the Ryders :crying:  :crying:  :crying:

Hum.......

I'm not closed to the idea to switch characters but I would go for only playing my main female character. Because it will trouble my experience to switch one to another. Also, if we can decide what gender is our sibling, I want a brother for sure (would be nice to have girl/boy twins). But I have troubles to play a male character on ME (tried, disliked, strangely never felt concerned, I had a too strong attachment to my femShepard I suppose)....

:/ it's... complicated.

I don't know, it's like I will be less invested on my roleplay if I have to play 2 characters instead of 1 ... I think I prefer to be 100% my femryder.

You are right. For one gameplay would be glorious, but for replaying that would be very strange. Probably they will go for N7 brother, regardless of your gender. The easiest way

I wouldn't mind, but please ad 'change your appearance' as a menu option then. I often end up restarting the game 10 times because my character doesn't look quite as good in game as in character customization. Two protagonists? That'd be hell for me.

Could be we choose which one at the start of the game.... the bro or the sis.... and play from there.

Could be the bro was the senior and in charge and died. Ergo the dog tags that does not belong to FemRyder.. ergo the young looking female Ryder taking over but is green behind the ears in terms of experience.

Exactly.

I mean, I like to switch characters on Resident Evil 6 for example ~ don't know if you played it, but you have 3 teams (Leon / Chris / Jake), each one have its own story. The 3 stories are all part of the main plot and sometimes the teams can run into each others. It's super nice.

But for ME... you create your own character, you customize her/him from the start and she/he has to do many choices during the whole game that influence the main story and relationships with others .... it's on a totally different level.

I think a maleryder will have a sister, and the femryder a brother ~

I'm guessing it would be that male Ryder has a more experienced N7 sister and female Ryder has a more experienced N7 brother.

Then this older sibling will either die, leaving us in command of the Tempest, or become an enemy.

or we're both N7. I was promised an N7 protag in 2014. They better not disappoint me...... or there will be chaos.

Or at least have a plastic surgery wing of the ARK whenever we fancy a nose job.

I don't think that's gonna be the case. My guess is that you will be able to customize only one character (default female Ryder), which will be the main protagonist and the N7 soldier will be default (the tattoed guy?). It is very likely they will be related (family) and come into conflict at different points throughout the game.

While I like the idea pointed out by Dalinne (would be cool that if you create a male protag the N7 Ryder will be the sister) I don't think that will happen, because that would mean that your N7 sister would be the default fem Ryder shown in the trailer, which looks kind of innocent to me and doesn't really fit the role of a badass experienced soldier with a jetpack, although that is only my perception.

Some interesting thought is that you get to control the N7 at some point but of course only in action sequences with no relevant dialogue options only to see his POV.

Think about it, they both are going to get into conflict no matter what we choose as main character and no matter how paragon/renegade your protagonist gets to be.

What they did with Joker was good and DA2 was enjoyable, though I would have liked to have more input on who lived and not had it based on my class, but I was always Hawke, whether it was Sharon or Steve.

Will have to wait and see how or if, they do this.  Having two completely different characters whether it's a brother and sister, or military and explorer or something else, with two completely different stories sounds like there would be less of the interaction I enjoy most in BioWare Games.
