I own neither console as of now.

Played ME3 on both the PS and Xbox.  The Xbox controlled felt better.

However, what console would deliver the superior gameplay experience for Andromeda?

One, controllers are important. So you're probably gonna wanna go Xbox. But far as performance goes, both will be on par. Actually, you should really wait till 2017 before picking up a console.

Sony has the Playstation Neo project coming up, and Microsoft has Project Scorpio. Basically the PS4.5 and the buffed Xbox One.

As of right now from early specs we can talk about, it appears Microsoft's Scorpio is gonna absolutely be more powerful than Playstation's Neo, but thats just conjecture. That won't really matter when it comes to Andromeda. That matters when games are built specifically to harness their power, in which case the Scorpio will have a higher top point to reach.

Regardless, you won't go wrong with a Playstation or an Xbox. Though again with your controller preference, I'd go Xbox. Or rather wait for the Scorpio. If not, pick up an Xbox One S(the slim version). If you want a PS4, get one now or wait for the Neo.

Just wait for the Neo and Scorpio to come out, make a decision then. Unless you absolutely need a console now, then pick up a Slim Xbox One.

Odds are, performance will be nearly identical. The new "Scorpio" and "Neo" consoles will only be worth considering if you have a 4K television and quality audio setup. Otherwise, you'll never see that expensive performance upgrade for which you'll have paid.

If you've never used a PS4 controller, you might want to check it out. Many people who preferred the 360 controller, myself included, prefer the PS4 controller this generation. MS is releasing a newly redesigned XBox One controller, if that tells you anything. I definitely want to check it out. It looks like it should be an upgrade over their current controller, in terms of feel. It's definitely better in terms of performance and versatility.

If you're going strictly by controller, I'd go for the One and its new version of an already pretty solid one.

You're going to get virtually identical performance either way. Personally I prefer the Xbox One controller over the PS4 controller.

Oh please, don't limit yourself to the lowly peasant-tier hilarity that are "consoles" but instead - transcend mortality - Join the one, true, glorious PC Mustard Race!

It's the only right answer here, really.

As of now, the PS4 is slightly more powerful than the Xbox One, but it's not really a dramatic difference. The Neo and Scorpio should be more powerful, but the Neo won't be out until holiday 2017 and the Scorpio hasn't been officially shown yet. MEA will most likely be out before then. I've only used the PS4 controller, which is great, but has a really short battery life. If you're planning on playing more than just MEA on your new console you could look at exclusives to help you decide between the 2 consoles.

Okay so to summarize

Controller: Xbox wins

Performance PS4 > Xbox One but Scorpio > Neo

Next is to decide which consoles have better games.

Wii U

If the Wii-U had the power to run Andromeda I would choose it, no contest.

Playing Xenoblade Chronicles X made me really appreciate having the second touch-screen for maps and inventory management.

Since you're not yet all in on a console, you should probably just put together a gaming rig, hook it up to your tv, and buy an Xbox controller.

But the PS4 is the better bet if you're dead set on console.

I haven't decided yet. I own both and usually I buy and preorder first for the Xbox and then I buy extra copy for the Playstation but don't know if I'll do that again this time. If I turn out to really like it I'll probably do it though, I'll buy it for both consoles.

I consider Xbox One better for a multiplayer experience, and the PS4 better for the single player experience. That doesn't mean they can't do the other well. It's just what I associate with them.

Though I prefer the Xbox One in every respect, even though I favour single player gaming.

I only use my PS4 now for the odd game (usually exclusive) or for watching TV. Besides that, it's been nothing but trouble. It keeps turning itself on at random intervals. It keeps getting itself stuck in Safe Mode. Ugh... my console (not necessarily everyone's though I understand it is a problem among a few) is just an irritating ****-er now. Kinda wish I never bought it.

I think Sony favour single player, high quality exclusives like The Last of Us.

Microsoft however, favour those with a more sociable aspect. Forza, Gears of War, Halo...

You have to pay extra for Sony to play on internet on PS4, I wonder if it's same for XBONE?

I know this'll make me "that guy", but I play most games on PC now with an Xbox One controller in my living room. If you want the best performance/graphics then PC is where it'll be; now is a great time to get into a budget PC too as AMD are releasing their new line of RX GPU's at the end of the month offering incredible performance at budget prices. There's some great remote keyboard/mouse apps for Android that let you control the system from the sofa too.

However, if PC isn't an option then in my experience there's really no difference in performance/graphics between the consoles so it all comes down to feature set, exclusive titles and controller preference.

[EDIT] @Panda; Yes, yes it is. In fact Xbox LIVE has been a subscription service since it's introduction on the Original Xbox. Sony only started charging once they released the PS4.

Yep. You need Xbox Live Gold to play online.

I own both consoles, but because EA Access usually gives you a change to play games before actual release, I think I will buy Andromeda to Xbox One. For my taste, PS4 has better exclusive games, so I would go with a console that have more games that interest you.
