You should be able to pick up a slim version of either console pretty soon.  Some people like the PS controller over the XB.  I personally like the Xbox controller more.  The left analog stick is in a more natural position, IMO.

Alternatively, you could put together a gaming PC and play with KB/M, or whichever controller you like.

I was an Xbox 360 girl last gen, but this gen I've got a PS4. I find the features better, the cross platform games tend to perform better and I like the controller.

That being said, the Xbox One has been getting better and better feature wise so if ME:A was bundled with an Mass Effect branded Xbox One, I'd definitely consider getting it.

To be fair I miss the giant original X box controller. I have insanely large hands and find these tiddly controllers fiddly. I would love a giant version for the likes of me, nobody ever thinks about us . I have over a 11 inch spread from pinky to thumb. Really bigger than the old X box would suit me. Any console next gen actually addressed this issue would get my cash. I often mash two keys on a keyboard and have the biggest keyboard I could get hold, of yet feel like I am on a mobile at times.

Next is to decide which consoles have better games.

It's a matter of question of do you like Halo/Gears of War/Quantum Break better or Uncharted/The Last of Us/God of War/The Last Guardian better, or at least which appeal more to you. Consoles have few exclusives nowadays, rest from 3rd party publishers is identical and releases on both.

In my personal opinion, you should just pick PS4. It's winning this gen by 2:1 margin, most people play on it so

As a PS4 owner I would suggest you from refraining to buy either of the two consoles till their upgrades PS Neo and Scorpio are out. You will get a greater experience just wait for it. As for which console you should buy wait for their specs and see what meet your needs the most.

If you can afford it a gaming PC with Xbox controller is the ultimate solution

I wouldn't go with a console (those supposed next-gen/new-gen - what ever! - consoles can't even outpace my PC and it's older than those systems (my PC was built by myself in 2011)), just buy a PC

(you can build one that's either cheaper or at least not much more expensive than a console after all and it can do so many things a console can't...(or not as well as a console!) from mods (yes: consoles want to offer that, too now, but I bet the PC can do it better and mods will be out earlier, too because they don't need to be approved by Sony or Microsoft etc.) to simply writing an email or using a word-processor ;) )

PC would be the safest bet as you can get it tailored to play the games you want.  Plus you have to keep in mind that Microsoft and Sony are going to be releasing "step up" consoles in the next year so you need to factor if you will be find buying a console then buying again if games start getting released exclusively for the "step-up" consoles.  Microsoft have the XBox One S coming in August with the Scorpio coming about a year later so it is something you do not want to rush.

Side-note I'm a VERY CASUAL gamer.

The less gaming I do, the happier I'll be.

Outside of Andromeda I'm minimizing how much gaming I'll do.

PC with a Xbox Controller is the best option.

I choose PC. I bought DA:I for the PS4 but hated the controls especially when picking up loot etc. So I bought the Game Year  Edition on the PC through Origin and liked it much better. I also upgraded my card at the time so... :P

I have two PS4s and an Xbox One. I only use the Xbox for exclusives (Quantum Break, Ori and the Blindforest, Gears 4, Recore,) and it gathers dust for a few months before I boot it up again with another game. I play my PS4 everyday. More people play on PS4 right now, numbers don't lie.

MEA on PS4!

I own an Xbox One and a PS4 but i'll be getting Andromeda on Xbox because I prefer the controller so have a think about what version your friends are getting if you want to play multi or which controller you prefer because the game will be the same either way :)

I prefer Xbox One, mostly because of the controller.

I own both consoles, though, and they're both solid.

Then you should definitely just get a decent PC.

You'll have a better experience with the game itself, and then you can use it for other things. A console is just a doorstop if you're not gonna use it to play games.

I'm a console gamer who's never even played on a PC, and I couldn't agree more.

I don't have online gaming friends.

That'd be a recipe for not going out in my world.

As someone who has owned both, there's not much difference graphically.  Whichever one is cheapest is best, though the Xbone does have a slight advantage if you want to play the previous trilogy, since they will all eventually be playable on there.  As others have said, though, remember that a upgraded console from each company will probably be released at the end of next year.

Is the Xbox remote compatible w/ the Apple Laptop Mac OS?

Since I don't have a laptop right now this seems to be the best option for me.

I'd switch the gameplay screen onto my PC monitor for a greater view.

Although things could get shitty due to the "old specs" of the laptop if they release a sequel

Personally, I'm going to get it on both my PS4 and my PC. I want it on PS4 so I can play with a few friends, and also because I'm in dire need of a new graphics card. I want to get a higher-end one, but I don't have the money to put into that at the moment.

Then the controller should be the biggest deal with you for a console, right? The Xbox One controller is a fantastic gamepad which is why much like its 360 predecessor its loved by even those PC players that use it for games better played with a pad than a keyboard and mouse.

My stepbrother's got a PS4, I've got an Xbox One, he said he'd pick up a One when it got smaller, so with the slim version coming he'll be getting that potentially. Though both he and I think its better to wait for Project Scorpio.

Scorpio and "Neo" are only going to be of use to those with the appropriate audio and video setups to take advantage of them.

The average gamer who hasn't even bothered to pony up for a PS4 or Xbox One, as of yet, likely doesn't have a 4K television and a quality audio setup. That's an assumption on my part, and will be wrong in some cases, but I felt like it needed repeating. There will be plenty of guys running out and dropping tons of money on these console for absolutely no reason, once they are available.
