Titan Books will publish four new Mass Effect books.

The first by N.K. Jemisin, launches in august and is called Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiative (so not Initiation). The second has no name yet, comes in march 2017 (before launch?) and the third in september 2017 (unnamed). In march 2018, Mac Walters will finish this line with the fourth book.

According to Titan Books the books are unmissable. Some books are prequels, other sequels to the events in the game. I got the information here, and the only interesting new thing about the game itself is that there is talk of a new and deadly enemy (as opposed to 'enemies')

This is a brochure for the The London Book Fair (last march) where publishers sell translations rights to other publishers. Still, the release dates could be changed of course. My experience is that usually the online bookstores have early and no longer accurate information.

UPDATE: This brochure from 2015 had 'Pathfinder Initiative' as title for the original novel, so perhaps they also changed it in the game to 'Andromeda Initiative'. Other than that, the exact release dates. Which mean they might no longer be accurate.

If this is true, I've got a book to read.

NK Jemisin is terrific - but man oh man, she's the last person I would have thought would write Mass Effect tie-in. Although I do think she's a fan. That'll be one to watch though.

It's entirely likely that it's the first one I read since... whatever the second one was.

As long as they are not abominations like Deception was, I may check them out.

Btw, did they actually ever fix that? They said they would but then I heard nothing about it, which makes me think they didn't and just said they would to appease us.

If it's true, then cool. More to read  :)

Well, that was kinda obvious when she started saying "I'm not allowed to talk about it" on direct question. Guess these are at least worth checking.

There were rumors that NK Jemisin was writing a ME book before but this seems like a confirmation. Well I'm excited. Jemisin's Fifth Season was great, which means I now have 2 Jemisin books to read this August. I wonder who the 2 unknown authors are.

2 books before the game will be onsale (prequel then?) ? eur .......... I'm sure some BSNers will buy and read them so I will patiently wait and see if they worth it before ordering anything. I find it strange to publish books that soon, the game will not even be on sale... I want to avoid spoilers about the plot as much as possible.

Launching is august? Alright, at least I'll have something to sate my Mass Effect appetite.

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms are awesome - at least the first two books are. I've read them 2 or 3 times each. My copy of the third is signed, which means no walking around with it, which means I still haven't read it like a jerk.

I like the DA books more, but ok...it's something to pass the time while waiting for the game.

Honestly I'm kinda shocked that they managed to get a high-profile author like her to write a video game tie-in, even if she's a fan of the series. Video game tie-ins are not exactly well-respected. And she must already be quite busy writing her own fantasy series.

So the first one is releasing in 2 months, but there's been no fanfare about it?  Weird.

I'm betting most people here haven't even read the first three novels.

What's that? Four novels? Naw, man, they only made three.

I'd be more inclined to go with the publisher over Amazon. That listing also has a different name than the one given by Tor (Initiation compared to Initiative).

November would make more sense than August, since BW would've revealed the basic scenario, and probably much more by then.

It could be an old brochure (they make these for publishers in other nations that could be interested in buying the translation rights), those dates are often not set in stone. Still, new information. Hype.

"The novels will act as prequel and sequels to the events in the games and will become part of the overarching
Mass Effect saga. They will focus on key characters and answer the many questions fans have been asking."

This has me very nervous.

So this confirms that the "Ai" logo stands for Andromeda Initiative, right?

I agree but August or november, what bother me here is to start my MEA experience by a book and not by the game itself.......... I don't know, it sound just weird.

Oh well, wait and see I suppose.

Or other key stuff like plot or lore as well as that answering many questions. I'm afraid since the books will answer those questions, the games might gloss over them because "the books explain it".
