This is a photo the Mass Effect team posted on their website. If you look at the image there are 3 Arks. All three have the outside arms closed. (In the N7 day trailer, the arms are open) and They all have the black docking station. I say docking station because I don't know what they really are. Also note that the docking stations were not in the N7 day trailer. My guess is they are some kind of mini Mass Relay, used maybe to get us out of the Milky Way. (Please note that I also think there are a total of 4 each) What are your thoughts?
Confirmed, More Than One Ark

I predict something bad happens and only one of the ships makes it.

There are 4 most likely. 3 seen from the side, and one head on, partially hidden by the one in the foreground.
Yep that's what I thought as well. Only 3 in the photo, but I believe there are a total of 4.

We saw this in the trailer. I snapped a still as it played. "Confirmed" would be a developer saying, "Yes, there will be multiple Ark vessels in Mass Effect: Andromeda".
I didn't snap this photo. Bioware, from the Mass Effect website, posted 5 screenshots, this being 1 of them.

Officially speaking BioWare has never confirmed that they are Ark ships. Of course they are, but they are not 'confirmed'.

Sure... probably making several. Until we see the opening though... No guarantee any but the "one" makes it. Could very easily see an opening scene with reapers attacking the construction yard and the ships are being destroyed and only the one manages to make it into FTL.

Clearly. I was just pointing out that the pic is nothing new, and that your "Confirmed" title is baiting and misleading. I'm not trying to give you a hard time about that. I just wanted to point it out in my initial post.I didn't snap this photo. Bioware, from the Mass Effect website, posted 5 screenshots, this being 1 of them.
I see three Arks myself, as my own posts made during the live announcement show. I also see enough to indicate the fourth is present in the shot. Still, things change, so it's not "confirmed".

I assumed there'd only be one, the intro is going to be way more interesting if there are actually 3 or 4....and more emotional, if only one makes it through it'll seriously mess with the survivors heads.
It could also spawn new storylines in the future if one of the lost ones shows up again. Nice.

I hope all the arks get there in tact. Gives the Milky Way races a little more presence and can create more opportunities for conflict and story angles.

Well, there's this from E3 2015 trailer, so I would guess they call them the Arks too:

Start the game off ME2 style with a big azz UFO blowing up a ship of ours
This time it'll be a Reaper and its deathbeam

I disagree, sort of. I think they all make it, but only one becomes accessible to the player and the others go missing. One may vanish altogether, possibly because of whatever the antagonist (N7 character?) is doing, and another probably has some sort of major issue that renders it destroyed (like attacked by Andromedan natives). This would up the ante, making only one ship viable and possibly making a plot point tracking down the missing Ark and the N7 character (who is likely related to Ryder somehow).I predict something bad happens and only one of the ships makes it.
The reason why I think this, besides it being incredibly predictable as a mechanism to insert conflict into the plot, is that in the trailer last year the word "ARK" is written on the destination screen. Not Ark 1 or Ark 2, just Ark. Sure, it could have just been for art and whatnot, but I bet that there is only one viable Ark left.

I do hope that more than one makes it, it feels like a waste just to kill them for the sake of backstory drama.

Really, is there any possible good explanation of how the Arks were built? How they have more advance technology than we had when we faced the Reapers?

Honestly, it'll probably be a hand wave. I just hope it is a semi-creative and non-lore breaking hand wave.
I would honestly much prefer a hand wave like "we investigated the deep anomalies of Ploba and discovered they were actually these giant Arks. Lucky us!" than "yeah we just built them real fast because reasons".

"Good" is, of course, subjective, but there's definitely an explanation. Right now, apparently it's considered a spoiler to reveal it.
Whether it'd be spoiling the next game or spoiling August's tie-in book is unknown.

We don't know they all reach Andromeda, so while there's 4 in that shot (and they're above Earth or near it,) we can't really say how many are actually in game.
One would assume at least more than one but maybe to set dire circumstances ours is the only one that actually made it and the others become fun mysteries.

My guess more than one will make it. The intent might have been to seed Andromeda. I wouldn't think we would spread a great distance apart, but we may not intend to land in a cluster. In short, not placing all our eggs in one basket. Also accidents do happen. It is possable a ship, our ship, or other ships suffered a malfunction and separated from the fleet
